Professional staff, secure, temperature controlled units with many different sizes to choose from. 24 hour access was a plus with our own code to get in and out of the gates. The place was locked up like Fort Knox! We left the unit a few days early in our final month and we were pro-rated, not having to pay the full amount. A rare occurrence in many businesses where you pay month to month! The units seem new. They are all so clean and up to date. Would recommend, 5 stars.I have not a bad thing to say about our unit, the staff or our experience overall! You can buy a lock there for your unit of you do not have one as well as packing tape and really good boxes if you are moving.

I would not store my items in the Public Storage at 2450 Centre Ave in Calgary. Shortly after we…read moremoved in, we had our storage locker broken into. The thieves had our access code and could defeat the Public Storage lock on the unit. As well, the record of their burglary was deleted from the computer system. They stole all my sports equipment and items of incredible sentimental value that are irreplaceable. After we reported the matter to the police, the response from Public Storage was, firstly, and most insultingly, that the incident never happened. Then they suggested that I was responsible for the loss. The thieves were in the storage unit for HOURS on a date between Christmas and New Year's. We have a description of them provided to the police and some of our replaceable items were found by police. In spite of all of this, Public Storage's response has been defensive and indifferent. Rent a storage somewhere else.

The…read moreday I signed up and paid was handled by Melissa and she was quite friendly, other than this day it was all majorly downhill from there. I was harassed incessantly by phone calls and emails onyl two weeks after paying for my first month to pay for another full month's rent from Inderjit, however I only needed the storage unit for that one first month. I continued to receive invoices even after public storage called ME to confirm my move out. Unfortunately, left two items in my unit that I had tucked away from view beside the wall at the door. When I called two days after vacating, I was told that any items left in the unit would have been thrown in the garbage as per their strict rules. Why would anyone be so wasteful and disrespectful ? Inexcusable ! The staff did not follow up on emails from me and even lied about requests that I had made. Don't let them fool you, the only day they will be courteous to you is the first day they sign you up and take your money ! I have never seen such a dishonest, unorganized, terrible storage facility in all of Canada. I do not recommend Public Storage !!

Prices range from 25 dollars to 317 dollars a month and the great part is if you sign a lease for 1 year then you only have to pay 11 months. They also have fax services, box rentals, mail forwarding, and warehouse servicing and packing supplies. At the front of the storage area is mini garage sale of things that people have left at the self storage, items like knapsacks, shoes, books, DVDs and electronic equipment. The place seems like a warehouse but its clean and the attendant is pleasant.

July '11 to February '12. That marks the time of my tenancy at Downtown Self Storage. I needed…read moresomething that was accessible. As far as self storage places go, I haven't got anything to compare these guys to, but my experience during my months of rent were positive. I can't remember the dimensions of my locker, it was about the size of the storage room in my apartment and cost me around $65/month. You can go in and pay every month, or set up a recurring payment on your credit card (which is great if you want to avoid the $10 late fee charge if you don't make it down in time for the first of the month). You need to provide your own lock, and you cannot move your stuff in until said lock is with you. The area is secure, you've got to sign in and sign out to gain access to your storage locker and you cannot enter your locker more than 4 times per month. The explanation was to keep the number of people coming through the place to a minimum being that lots of companies seem to use them as storage. There's a nice big loading dock to bring your belongings into and a couple of large carts you can use to ship your stuff from the loading dock to your locker. The guys in the office are also nice. Not once did I have any issues when paying rent, attempting access to my locker, etc. If other people need access as well, you can set them up on your account and have them sign in or out as well. What ended my tenancy? Well, I moved from an apartment to a house with a garage... not so much the need for extra space anymore.
