I like this place due to the proximity to my apartment but the hours are good awful. They are one of the only storage facilities over here who have such a late opening and early closing. The operating hours have definitely messed up my business a few times. read more

DO NOT use public storage at all if you can help it!!! "First month $1" doesn't include a $29 one time admin fee, and my rent went up **twice** from $174 (Sept 2022) to $238 (March 2023) to $264 (Jan 2024), which is over a 50% increase in just that time. In case you don't read the rental agreement closely, it states they can raise the rent whenever/by however much they'd like. On top of this, there's also $15/month insurance on the unit in case something happens. I called to explain I'm a student having a hard time paying, and they'd only grant me $26 off a month for 3 months. They also barrage you with calls if your rent isn't paid on the 1st of each month, and there's a $47.60 late charge by the 8th of the month if it's not paid by then. OH and the staff is always rude and if you're working 9-5, best of luck with the hours at this location. The elevators are super slow and there's only 2 elevators for 4 floors of hundreds of units. No cell service also. Overall, this is absolute robbery and no transparency, the company's aim is to rip you off at any chance -- try your best to give away/sell or throw out your stuff!!! Junk services can remove large items, even paying for this will save you thousands vs public storage. read more

I had a real nightmare of an experience here where I went to transfer my space to a larger one and encountered a very grumpy worker Lisa that claimed the price of a slightly larger unit would be $50 more per month than any other space of a similar size in all the storage units of the surrounding area and $50 more than I was quoted for that same space a month before. I feel like they've swindled me and customer service for public storage is impossible. The district manager Eric Lopez does not return phone calls, emails or texts despite guarantees that I would receive a call to help resolve some of these issues surrounding a disgruntled employee literally yelling at me (their customer) for no good reason. The situation elevated to the point where I called the police because I believe they stole my property and held it hostage for more money and I've never in my over 40 years of life called the police before. I will be filing a case in small claims court in an attempt to recover some of the unfair funds this business has essentially stolen from me. Save yourself the trouble and rent a space from Extra Space storage about 10 blocks away... they understand how to be decent human beings and treat one another with fair respect that everybody deserves. read more

Kayla is the bomb!! She was so so helpful. The customer service here is great. I don't love that the cost of my unit has steadily increased quite a bit. They know once they have all your stuff in there, you'd prefer to keep it there than move it elsewhere - it's not fair! But location-wise, this is good. read more

Guys don't be fooled by the person trying to push you to buy insurance you can go buy from lemonade or other decent and not overpriced companies, same for the lock like $20 bucks! Nobody can force you, go with your own lock when they start with telling that you have to purchase it just keep your position, when they realize you are not a fool they would just stop, if you find someone hard headed enough to not want you to sign then talk about calling the department in charge of abuses from businesses can't recall the exact name, trust me the issue will magically disappear. Also cheap customer service comes with cheap rent don't expect to make friends there. read more

First, there are a good number of hidden costs/clauses when booking online. You may have seen that PS was found (in a class action lawsuit ) to have forced its customers to buy its overpriced insurance policy, on a monthly basis. Now, that they can no longer do so, when signing a rental contract you will also find yourself signing away your right to join a class action suit. What a coincidence. PS knows this clause will one day also be deemed a violation of your rights, and so the contract states that should any clause (ie the class action waiver) be deemed unenforceable, the rest of the contract still stands. When you are about ready to check out you will find yourself the new proud owner of a $20 lock! But I don't need a lock you say. Too bad. You are required to purchase one at check out. No way around it. Rest assured, you can return the lock upon arrival at your unit, because moving day isn't busy enough already. If like me however, you are booking your unit 30 or more days in advance you will learn merchandise, such as a lock, can only be returned within 30 days of "purchase". But, you get to keep your new lock forever. Great, except the dang lock only fits the units at PS. As you call tell from this review I took the time to read most of the contract. But that was a problem for PS. As I was nearing the end, wouldn't you know it, my session timed our. I had to start a whole new booking. So now it's moving day and you're at the facility. There are four spots available next to the elevators, and you will find that some of your fellow visitors have left their cars parked there for hours on end. Now you need a cart. Are they stored in one place? Is there a sign saying where to find them? Who knows. Just get ready to fight with strangers over plastic carts. Time to unload the truck. This is where it gets bad. Say hello to the one working elevator. That's right. Height of summer (moving season in NY), last day of the month (when no one moves), amidst a deadly pandemic where you need to social distance, say hello to the one working elevator. You will find signs telling you one household allowed in the elevator at a time. What you won't find is a repair person, or a sign telling you the second elevator is out of order, or directions to the stairs, or so much as an apology. But hey, who needs an elevator when moving anyhow? I mean this sincerely, if I spent four hours here I spent a hour waiting for the one elevator to either go up or down. Better hope everyone else moves swiftly, because their delays are now yours. Once in the elevator you will have 20 seconds before the doors start to close (they're very time conscience here). Then you need to enter a ten point code to work the elevator. Not an easy to remember 3 or 4 digit code. No, ten. Inside you will find you no longer have cell service (in case your family wants to know why you've been waiting for the elevator for 30 mins). What you also won't find are signs directing you to your unit (1-100 this way, 101 - 200 that way for instance). My unit was smaller than the one I booked, so that was fun too. Now say hello to your new friends in the office. When you call they will not pick up. When you go in person the desk will be unattended (they will be in the office watching videos). There will be a loud, obnoxious siren going off endlessly. When you give up on the desk to look for the bathroom you will find each and every one is out of service. We all know that's not the case. There's a scary and contagious coronavirus in the air, and you don't want people using any of your bathrooms. That's cool, I guess. But maybe just own it? read more

Orquídea and David were pretty helpful with me when I got here last month June 2020. The price was right and the location of my storage unit was good for me. One of the reviewers mentioned no cell service inside and that's true. I believe it has to do with the construction of the place being metal and concrete. That is, for me, a concern if I were ever trapped or injured. They should have cell repeaters inside the facility. It's a little annoying that there are only 2 elevator for 4 floors. On busy weekends and end of month, you can be stuck waiting for one for a while. They should have had at LEAST 3 elevators installed. Issues aside it's still a very good bang for the buck in a new facility. read more

Javonna is a good human. We thought we had 24h access to our space. We don't, the facility closes at 5p. We arrived at 5:05p with a full moving truck and were told that the place was already closed. I pleaded w Javonna to make an exception for us, and she kindly let us in and stayed TWO HOURS longer on a Sunday night to let us access our space. She is a complete saint and went above and beyond for customer service, hope she never leaves this company! read more

unbelievable, my girlfriend set up a unit while i was away on a trip. I coordinated w my friend who went way out of his way to help me move now that im back in brooklyn. the first thing i did, obviously, is double check the facility's hours. i was told the office closed at 6pm but i would have gate access until 9pm. so of course after loading my friends truck w stuff from my fourth floor walk up, we pull up to the location to find the gate locked up tighter than a nuns %#*+. called the number i had for the place and got some grumpy fella from a national call center who told me i can essentially just go f myself. called again, got a woman, who was much nicer, but told me nothing could be done. not going to go into detail about how unbelievably inconvenient having your friend w a truck full of your stuff w no where to put it is, and the logistic nightmare I have, now, trying to work around both our schedules to make this happen. but how the hell do you mess up your hours? and how is my only recourse talking to some national call center rep from god knows what state who cant do a damn thing to help well im stuck outside their business. beautiful example of a big ugly corporate beast. no one knows what the hells going on, no one cares, and no one can help even if they did. Stay away! I can only imagine the levels of frustration this place has pumped out into the universe. read more

I would never use this storage unit ever again. First off the move in times are horrible; 930 -6pm weekdays and 930-5pm on the weekends. That is not enough time to move stuff into a unit. On top of that if you're already at the unit still unloading your truck they put the elevator out of service at 5pm on the weekdays so you can't even keep unloading if you're already at the location. They make you take everything off the elevator and put it back onto your truck and tell you that you have to come back another day. It's no type of consideration, the workers are rude and always have an attitude. I booked my move in date for the 28th, on the first it said that I would be charged only $1.50 since I bought the unit on a first month rent promotion. On the first I ended up getting billed $21.50. I called and asked why the price change and the she said it's the prorated rent for the amount of days I been at the unit so far. THIS WAS NEVER STATED IN ANY DOCUMENTS I SIGNED. You can't just change a bill price without notifying someone. This is just insane. I would not recommend this location nor this company. Avoid it at all cost, it is not worth the hassle at all. I'm pregnant and just over it this has been my worst moving experience. If I could rate this place zero stars I would. read more

On July 19, my girlfriend and I went to the Public Storage location on 50022nd Avenue in Brooklyn after she had made a reservation for a 5x5 unit as we wanted to see the units available and make sure everything was set for when she was going to move her belongings on 7/31. The lady at the desk showed us a 5x5 unit that had a column in the center, which was taking up a lot of space and when we pointed it out, she told us that she could have gotten us a unit without the column, as many were available. We went back to the desk and we asked if we could get a printout of the prices of different units. She printed out the princes for us (which we still have). The only thing she pointed out was that the price from ordering at the facility was slightly higher than online, but if we had made the reservation online we would have gotten that price. AT NO POINT IN TIME or nowhere on the website or in the printout she gave us, IT SAID THAT THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A MANDATORY INSURANCE TO BE PURCHASED FOR $15 A MONTH. When we went back to the facility to store her belongings on 7/31, we were assisted by Jowanna, who told us that we had to purchased the Public Storage own cylinder lock and if we used our own lock, they would have cut it. This was news to us, as we were NOT TOLD SO ON 7/19 BY HER COLLEAGUE. In fact, I even took a picture on 7/19 as the lady told us to make sure our lock would fit (I took a picture for this very reason). In addition to that, it turned out that THERE WAS A MANDATORY INSURANCE FOR $15 A MONTH WHICH WE WERE NEVER TOLD ABOUT ON 7/19, NOR IT WAS MENTIONED ON THE WEBSITE WHEN WE MADE THE RESERVATION. Finally, as if this wasn't enough, Jowanna gave us a 5x5 unit with a column in the center. When we pointed out we were told on 7/19 that we could have gotten one without the column, she told there were none available. Eventually they found another unit available that didn't have the column and we moved the stuff to that one. We asked Jowanna to speak with a manager but he wasn't there. This is nothing but False Advertising. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I am going to contact some of the newspapers we collaborate with at my office on a daily basis. read more
