Do Not rent from Public Storage! They trick sack you into terms of a contract making you think it's a great deal and then charge you crazy amounts! They told me for the first thirty days it would be $55.00. Well that wasn't the case. That charge was for the remainder of the month which was 10 days. Unless you read the entire agreement I suggest not renting. I'm furious. I did a revocation of my signature. And trust and believe it's exactly how they train their employees. They want you to be mislead so you rent and sign. This review is for every location in the USA. I have used storage units consistently over the last year - traveling between WA and ID. When I moved into my unit at Public Storage it was by far the best experience! I will never use another company. I reserved my unit online which was incredibly easy. I received my unit number and gate code immediately. Once in the facility it was incredibly clean from street to unit. The access is bright and open and my unit was spotless. Not to mention, there was a lock included in the unit waiting for me. I downloaded the app and now I can open/close the access gate with my phone instead of getting out and punching it in the terminal, which is a huge bonus. I went in to pay a compliment not knowing it was just passed closing and Todd unlocked the door to make sure I was ok. Todd is amazing and cares about the property and the customers. I was startled when I came by to inquire but was greeted with a kiosk. But all went well and there was a follow up phone call. I was told the app would get me in the gate (and out) but it didn't work. The unit was super clean. So far so good but having to key in a gate code sucks. read more

BEWARE OF BAIT AND SWITCH!! 3 months ago I got a unit from this facility at $105/month. The facility is nice and I like the access times and everything else. However, 3 months in, they just increased my fees to $145. An almost 40% increase...in 3 months. Now I get that sometime rates have to be adjusted to account for inflation, but 40% in 3 months?? Thats bait and switch. And when asked, they said "Well, you still getting a good deal.", and when asked that if the market goes down, will they automatically decrease the rent? A resounding NO! Although I do know that in Idaho there is no law governing the percentage of a service increase, a fair company would take this into consideration. I guess not with Public Storage. read more

I had a reservation for a unit everything locked in called 5 minutes later to pay for said unit. To be told they had sold it to someone else and there is no more units of that size and all they could do for me was upsize me and what a great thing it was for me that they could sell me a size I didn't need that was only going to cost me over a grand more a year. Federal Way, Boise, Idaho Friendly staff with no power over pricing. Like the app for entering and leaving. They jacked my rate up and said it was temporary. Then when the manager looked into it, they raised it again. I was almost done moving out and the manager said they had lowered it, but not enough. No advantage for longevity. I would caution against renting from this Public Storage. My daughter rented last summer and turned her keys in and received the final paperwork. She was using a credit card she rarely uses and didn't realize for a couple of months that they were still charging her. She called and they said they would stop and she asked for a refund. They charged again the next month and she called again. They again said they would stop. They finally did after about 3-4 months, but no refund. They admitted it was their mistake, but the manager won't return calls or messages. She has called their corporate offices and they agree she should receive a refund, but they defer to the locally owned location, but the manager won't return any calls. read more

This is a awful storage facility. There isn't a live person to speak of ever! They change code and code machines without notifying the customer of the changes. Their call back in an emergency situation is 72 hours. When dealing with a person in office they were rude and didn't care if you were put out. Always excuses and rude comments. This is a small community and just leaves a bad taste. So DO NOT SEEK TO STORE YOUR TREASURES HERE! read more

we had high hope for public storage...started out fine. The facility was sold 3 times since we had out things stored there, and thenrates have climbed each time. very seldom is anyone in the office on site. You have to go thru an automated phone system to leave messages. we emptied our unit as it was approaching $300/ month. we've always paid on time, but there seems to be no way to reach anyone live...just recordings, when you have an issue. Why even have an office on site? we wanted to know where to drop our keys, how to have the unit 'inspected' before leaving, etc...but all we could do was leave a voice mail on the automated system. If you have an option, don't choose Public Storage on S. Federal way.....no customer service at all, and no way to reach a live person via phone. Pathetic. read more

wouldn't recommend this place to anyone in the area. between the shady business practices and terrible customer service and greedy rent increases every other month along with the mandatory "insurance" that serves absolutely no purpose especially since their facilities are poorly maintained. the app sucks too because it didn't even notify me when my autopay was no longer on nor would it allow me to make a payment on it. the individual who assisted me in the office was so rude and nasty. they don't follow their own agreements and will deny you access to a copy of the original one you signed in an attempt to cover their own greedy practices. definitely would avoid this place if i had known about the class action lawsuit and several other lawsuits and complaints to the bbb. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I went to go check on my storage unit after moving everything into it 9 months ago, to my surprise rat shit EVERYWHERE. If you don't want your valuables to be stored for the mating ground of rats and mice...don't even bother!! I have over 5k worth of valuables locked away in there that I will just have to throw out. All of my clothes, shoes, and bedding is infested with mice and rat shit. I'm absolutely horrified of the shape my storage unit is in after putting everything into it in January. I hope this shitty storage center pays for my damages and learns to take proper precautions over other peoples valuables. I'm pissed. read more
