They also added the 9-hole links style to start off the Warrior course, which I think was a brilliant idea (though I'm not a fan of the kick-ball holes they added or whatever they are -- just awkward). Also, the greens on the 9 links holes need some love -- the little clumps of grass are frustrating. Otherwise, the back 9 are how I remembered them, and they were fun to play again. Patriot is my favorite of the 2, and again, as enjoyable as I remembered. The greens were in better shape on this course, though the fairways are à course superintendent's nightmare as it is one big anthill. I have to imagine the maintenance bills are pretty high, but the fairways need some love. Lastly, I appreciated the staff at Redstone. All were friendly and professional, and made my wife and I feel welcome. Can't wait to play here in the Fall. Cheers! RS

The gate asks for your driver license and grants u a pass to play that day. It is open to the public. The staff there are very nice. Day was very humid and hot, water was provided on the PATRIOT course at 1 location. Before COVID water was more easY to have. Pictures are of my dogs at Madison dog run during a rainy weekday. Walkways were flooded as creek was overflowing.

We managed to make it right before a huge storm opened up and enjoyed the overlook and a few hiking trails. The drive up is nice and scenic filled with windy roads. As we were leaving definitely be alert as the hill down is extremely windy and dangerous with a drop off. There is a fee you pay per person to enter which was not expected but it came to $5 per adult and the money goes back into the park.

My hair guy and I came here for a post-hairdo drink after he wrapped up his workday at Fringe Salon. The bartender/golf employee was beyond friendly! I wanted a glass of wine and if you think about it, they likely don't sell much wine at X-Golf. I bartended at the 19th hole at The Huntsville County Club and primarily the golfers' liked highballs and beers. I don't even think we stokced wine! The bartender showed his bottle of pinot grigo or chardonnay and said it had likely "oxidized," which I agreed, as there was maybe a light 1 glass pour left. He kindly opened another bottle, and even tried to chill it for me, and I said "1-2 ice cubes are fine." He was very apologetic about the wine situation, which was actually fine! He offered to let me hit some golf balls in the simulators for free and then sent us away with two leftover doughnuts from the Parlor Doughnut Shoppe next door. I took them home, and the hubs ate them and said "they were delicious!" I'm looking forward to visiting X-Golf again next haircut date!

This beautiful and moving memorial park is located on the northernmost end of downtown Huntsville,…read morejust off I-565. I've been there several times, and it's never crowded and parking is not a problem. I've taken Mom there several times, and she uses a "wheelie" walker, and we use the handicapped parking spots right up front when we take Mom. I learned so much about the park from the American Legion's website (for some reason the actual Huntsville/Madison county Veteran's memorial park website is currently down) https://www.legion.org/memorials/241757/huntsville-madison-county-alabama-veterans-memorial. For example I didn't know the bronze statues' models were actual Madison County combat Veterans. Nor did I know the right portal leading to the Alabama flag is a time capsule in which Veterans have placed personal artifacts, letters, and items reminiscent of their service and the wars they fought. It will be disinterred on November 11, 2062. The Patriot's Walkway is extensive, too and features the Aviator Statue, sculpted by local artist Dan Burch and modeled after Marine Captain James 'Trey" Wilbourn, III, Huntsville only Persian Gulf War casualty. It also features the 8 ft., 3 ton Revolutionary War Monument, dedicated to the 84 Revolutionary War soldiers who are buried in Madison County, which was relocated to the Huntsville Veterans Memorial park in October 2016. The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument was installed in Sept. 2020, developed by Herschel "Woody" Williams, one side of the monument states "Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, a tribute to Gold Star Families and Relatives," and the other side features a 4-panel story, with panels titled "Homeland, Family, Patriot and Sacrifice." Legacy Walkway Brick Pavers are available for purchase for 100.00 for 3 lines of engraving. I've purchased two of those and the process is so simple, and the staff who process these purchases is on top of it - you receive email updates and top notch paperwork including the exact location of the brick paver and a nice, suitable for framing certificate for the recipient's family. It's 2.00 to have the certificate mailed via USPS. The park opened in Nov. 2011 and I'm proud of the city of Huntsville's dedication to maintaining the park. The first issue in the news was the amount of typos on the early brick pavers that were installed. This was rectified. Around Christmas 2014, vandals put graffiti on the timeline wall and drove a 4-wheeler across the park, damaging the capstone. This vandalism resulted in the city of Huntsville installing security cameras in the park. Last month, around St. Patrick's Day, someone filled the main fountain with bubble bath. Kudos to the city for fixing all these issues. This park does not have picnic tables, however, there are some places to sit and plenty of nearby restaurants. I hope you will visit! It truly is a beautiful, moving place with plenty of interesting displays to explore, or just a quick trip to the main fountain area.

The Huntsville Veterans Memorial Park was dedicated to Veterans of Madison County on 11-11-11. It…read moreis a beautiful park with easy access from downtown Huntsville and from I-565. There is parking along Monroe Street. The park honors the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marines and the Coast Guard. It houses a time capsule, two larger than life statues, an eternal flame and it is surrounded by brick pavers that you can dedicate to a veteran for $100 each. It is a wonderful memorial to honor the great men and women fighting for our freedom.

Jones Farm Park has a flat, paved path that winds around two large ponds. One section running along…read moreone of the ponds is gravel, but it can be avoided. There is always a pretty good sunset, as it reflects off the still water! There are a few pavilion coverings with picnic tables, as well as a few benches around the ponds. I quite often see people fishing. There are a numbers of ducks, so sometimes you have to watch your step to avoid their droppings. There are no bathrooms and the parking lot is pretty small. Although, there is a short pedestrian bridge connecting the path to the parking lot of the shopping center nearby (with Handel's ice cream and Peppered Pig). Also, on the far side of the park (behind the second large pond), the path connects to the sidewalk on Carl T Jones (close to Yogurt Mountain). You can also cross 4 Mile Post at a crosswalk with flashing lights to get to a section of the Aldridge Creek Greenway.

This is a nice park that I have driven by 1000s of times and never really noticed…read more Out during COVID, after a long work day and then afternoon errand day, my best friend and I enjoyed a lightly sprinkling afternoon break under the pavilion at Jones Farm Park. Since it was sprinkling out, there were only a few people out. A man BF knew walking his beautiful pup, Lilly and a man and his son who were fishing. I asked them what they caught and they caught a turtle! I was happy they caught and released the little critter. Or maybe it was big, I didn't get a chance to see it. Tom and Lilly were a delight to talk to - well Lilly didn't talk or bark either. And the pavilion and two ponds were a nice respite from the long day both BF and I had. There were ample garbage cans, nice walking/running paths, maybe (I wasn't sure) a free little library (it was empty making it hard to tell what it was), the pavilion with picnic tables and plenty of seating and lots of geese. Why no 5th star? Tom told us the goose poop was cleaned up recently, but it really was not cleaned all that well under the pavilion. Do check out Jones Farm Park, it is really pretty and peaceful. Looks like a decent spot to fish, too!

Facilities here include a boat launch, fishing in the Tennesse River, picnic grounds, playground, rentable pavilions, softball fields, sand volleyball court, basketball court, Path to Nature Trail and The Cliffs at Redstone. The Cliffs at Redstone is one of the venues on base at Redstone Arsenal and can host up to 144 guests. Hudson is rustic and clean, with covered pavilions of various sizes from covered 4-top picnic tables to large pavilions. There have outdoor grills around to cook on. Although I haven't been in the Cliffs, it looks to be a nice rustic location for a wedding reception, or a large scouting event. Like anywhere outdoors in Alabama, it gets hot out here in the summer. If you are one who has to attend the "forced fun" of an org day here, I recommend brining a chair, preferably one that provides shade, and a hat. Also, storms blow up on a moment's notice, so it doesn't hurt to bring an umbrella along, too. The Tennessee River is always a pretty sight. If you go to the Hudson Rec Center, you will certainly enjoy the river view!
