I visited Big Spring Park for the water lantern festival and it's such a nice community space. There's a pond with a walking trail, cornhole boards, and trees sprinkled throughout for shade. The park is also right by the museum of art, so you can enjoy a day there then go soak up some sun. There's lots of parking around the perimeter, which makes visiting easy. Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun decorating their lanterns. Watching them all on the water once the sun set was beautiful.

Fish & Ducks park where you can feed them. .25 cents for food.

It's a nice park with benches for sitting around this pond. There are fish and duck that you can feed. There are machines that you can put in a quarter and buy food to feed them. Something to do on a Sunday afternoon just before having lunch at one of the local restaurants.

Spacious, family friendly park. Different activities through the seasons. Great park to walk run or feed the fish / ducks

Fantastic park. Love the fish and the birds, beautiful piece of nature in the midst of the city. Awesome trails. Lovely park.

I loved the walks that I went on. They were perfect and I got to do a lot of things on the walks. I fed ducks, fish, and pidgins for only ¢25. I think it's a good place to go especially on Christmas based on what I saw. Only problem was there was duck crap on the sidewalk which you have to miss. I think you should go.

This park is so nice! There is a ton of parking around the park in the street and In parking garages. The sidewalk is nice and wide. It is also pretty flat and easy to navigate. Throughout the park are several fountains with informational signage. It is pretty and quite photogenic. The ponds are filled with fish and ducks. You can get food for them out of a machine for a quarter. When we walked all the way to the end , near the rotary waterfall area we saw some needle drug gear and a homeless persons bag. It seemed so out of place in an otherwise beautiful spot. If you have kids just be alert. If I lived in the area I would certainly hang out here. It looks well maintained and I'd recommend checking it out.

This park is located in downtown Huntsville. It's not a large park but it is a nice size . Plenty of space to run around , relax or feed the ducks. Some of the ducks are mean. One duck used the bathroom really close to me and it was so gross ! It was an older duck so I guess he couldn't hold it. Haha This park is near the museum of arts so it was cool to visit these two landmarks in one trip. There are machines available to purchase food to feed the ducks. Great fun for kids and adults !!!

We love coming here to see the tinsel trail during Christmas time. It's always beautifully decorated and well lit. Perfect to walk through with your friends or kids to see the Christmas lights.

Pond at the park. Lots of my favorite bird here, the Mallard Duck.

They have ducks, beautiful scenery, and did I mention ducks? Not those annoying nasty dirty Canadian geese, real mallard and a bunch of other beautiful ducks. Go, feed the ducks (not the geese). Ducks rule.

Free Christmas Tree display in beautiful downtown Huntsville's Big Spring Park. There were a few food trucks and a spot to get in a carriage ride for $40 per couple. There were so many beautiful trees and you can just walk around the park and listen to the Christmas music and looks at the trees. The historic canal is filled with Koi fish, which are neat to watch. The spring is lit up right now and a nativity scene rests above it. Highly recommend coming here! Again, free entertainment. If you come after 5 on weekdays or come on the weekend, street parking is free.

Lots of walking area, cute restaurants that face the ponds as well. Great area for picnics, family time, or a nice walk.

Great green space with plenty of room to walk around and relax in. They host tons of different events in and around the park all the time and with it being in the middle of downtown with the art museum and lots of restaurants nearby, you're bound to have a memorable afternoon or evening at Big Spring Park. The ducks and koi fish are also super adorable, the orange one pictured below is favorite.

What a lovely park for walking, taking pictures and enjoying the fall colors. We walked the full trail and met many walking their dogs, taking engagement pictures and some just exercising. We also enjoyed the babbling waters, cabin, bridges and covered bridge. our favorite was the chapel in the woods. Will be back when in town again

Eternal Flame and Dec. of Independence Monument. Is it still there? :-)

They replaced the tennis courts with sand volleyball courts. The Park has the 2nd oldest disc golf course. It has at least 1 18-hole disc golf course in super-tall pine trees on the east side. You can fish here. The water features are on the south and north sides of Drake Avenue. People catch big mouth bass and catfish here. They have vending machines where you can buy food for the fish, ducks, and geese. There's a free splashpad here, and I think it's on astroturf that's open from Open Memorial Day - Labor Day, every day from 10:00AM to dusk. It closes very Tuesday at 5:30 PM and reopens on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM to allow for maintenance. There's not a lot of shade near the splashpad, so you may want to bring an umbrella or some type of covering to get some relief in the hot summer months. I can't think of many restaurant options in the immediate area, except for the McDonald's which is just east of the park, the food court at Parkway Place Mall, the City Cafe Diner east of the park on Drake, a walk-up Taqueria El Cazador at Drake, and Triana and another Mexican place closer to the park on Drake. In other words, pack a lunch to enjoy! Covered pavilions are available to rent for events such as parties and reunions. We grew up playing ball in the ball fields at Brahan Spring. It looks like they offer flag football, soccer, and softball and baseball now. Personally, I would limit my visits to daytime/morning hours if I were taking children to this park. Also, the restrooms aren't very convenient to the splash pads and are often locked.

Since it was sprinkling out, there were only a few people out. A man BF knew walking his beautiful pup, Lilly and a man and his son who were fishing. I asked them what they caught and they caught a turtle! I was happy they caught and released the little critter. Or maybe it was big, I didn't get a chance to see it. Tom and Lilly were a delight to talk to - well Lilly didn't talk or bark either. And the pavilion and two ponds were a nice respite from the long day both BF and I had. There were ample garbage cans, nice walking/running paths, maybe (I wasn't sure) a free little library (it was empty making it hard to tell what it was), the pavilion with picnic tables and plenty of seating and lots of geese. Why no 5th star? Tom told us the goose poop was cleaned up recently, but it really was not cleaned all that well under the pavilion. Do check out Jones Farm Park, it is really pretty and peaceful. Looks like a decent spot to fish, too!

The park is essentially a nice series of paths connecting Four Mile Post to Carl T Jones with some retention ponds, benches, and pavilions to provide some "natural" space to counteract the sprawl of the shopping centers next door. (And if you doubt that this is sprawl, ask me about what this area looked like when I was growing up and Carl T Jones was new...). We parked in the small lot around 10am on a Saturday. My mom said that we were lucky to find a spot since the lot is often full in the morning and evenings, to the point that they've already expanded parking and it's not enough. We meandered along the paths, letting our toddler be amused by the gravel and flowers, while others fished in the ponds and walked with purpose. We saw some great birds, including a red-winged black bird. It's close enough to the greenway to be a lovely addition to my runs whenever I visit my folks.
