Don't get confused! This is not just a bar it's also a restaurant. I personally think that the hamburgers here are amazing. This restaurant deserves 5 starts because it has a very good view and location. The service was amazing! It was packed in the restaurant everyone eating and some drinking but I still got my dinner in under 15 minutes. I also think that the decor is really good. The place isn't really a fancy place. Woo hoo! Came here for a delightful little pre fix lunch on my last day in Quebec. Soup, a burger, and a little raspberry tart for roughly 13 bucks? Don't mind if I do. The food is great-particularly the shoestring French fries. Tres bon. The ambiance was great-it had an awesome Irish pub feel, was meticulously clean, and the downstairs pub area is beyond charming. Went with 4 other people. The best part about this restaurant is that the setting is very beautiful, especially the lower level. Service was pretty attentive and friendly and prices were pretty reasonable. On to the food.. My vegetarian sandwich was tasteless (no sauce and no salt/pepper it seems) and in general a pain to eat because of the bread they use and how they fill it. I liked that they used artichokes, but aside from that, nothing much to say. The fries that came with it felt like it had been sitting around for a couple of hours before they served it. From what I gathered the others thought their food (burgers/chicken and pizza) were just OK. The one positive note about the food: their Snakebite beer is very good. It's probably worth to go have a couple of those and just skip on the food. read more

Great atmosphere and large beer selection. We enjoyed sitting in a stone walled room by a fireplace. The staff was awesome - funny and friendly. When we were greeted the host asked us our purpose for visiting as a hockey game was about to start - by telling him we wanted to enjoy dinner (and didn't need to have a view of the game) he led us well to a beautiful room. We thought that was a great touch. The jerky appetizer was unique and yummy. The fondue appetizer left a bit to be desired. Too deep fried. The hunter burger was incredible. The blueberries on top took it to another level. The onion rings on it weren't my favourite but they were hidden in the other toppings. This pub is located smack dab in the middle of Old Quebec on touristy Rue Saint-Jean. The outside is impressive and the inside first floor is equally impressive. Too bad the "pub" portion is downstairs in the basement in the rear of the building. Also downstairs is the majority of the restaurant section too. Overall it's OK. I didn't have any food so I can't really comment about that. Thumbs up on the CLEAN restrooms. You can probably eat off the floors and counters. But why would you want to? Why are you asking me? Disappointing :( the "nachos" are store bought rounds made with spaghetti sauce and mozzarella. The burger was a frozen patty that tasted like mutton. This place has a great location and good beer variety. The problem we had on a Sunday evening was that we sat at our table for well over 15 minutes before we stopped a waiter and told him nobody had been to our table to greet us or take a drink order. He noted that they were short staffed and "that is your waitress over there" and that she would be by shortly. We waited a few more minutes, longer than we should have. She finally came over and we ordered drinks and food at the same time because we didn't know how soon we would get the opportunity to talk to her again. It was a good thing we did because we didn't get the drinks until the food was on the way to the table. There were five of us and only four drinks made it. We had to ask several times for water before we got it. Short story is that the food was mediocre and the service was dreadful The street where the pub is located has numerous restaurants, try any one of them before trying this one. read more

Okay place, good location, good drink (beer) selections. But if you m care about the quality of your food, I would say, just walk several more steps and find somewhere else. The fried stuff we ordered - not over cooked but the color is very deep, and the only possible reason is that the oil is very old... Great Service, and wonderful if u want to sit in sun, with a great view from their terrace, and enjoy a beer. Their french onion soup was really good and they said they make it with local beer cooked into the boullion, but otherwise the food is pretty plain. Though the sweet potatoe fries did look awesome. So we came to Quebec City for the weekend as a family and enjoy another part of Quebec. We stop by this pub and wouldn't mind trying it out. Hostess was excellent and helpful with our needs but our first server was a dick. Super rude to my pregnant wife. She just wanted a simple non alcoholic beer that she likes a lot and just recently discovered. I guess her trying to describe the bottle tried his patience because his response was short and rude. After mocking her to the bartender which she caught them while she walked by. The saving grace was the hospitality of the manager who more than made up for how pissed I was at this server. The service here is hugely lacking. I recently ate at this establishment and was left wanting so much more. Unfortunately, I had to physically get up from my table to grab both a drink and food menu, order my food and drinks at the bar, and also ask for the check. The hostess with the curly hair has a major attitude problem. I had to ask her for our check as our server was nowhere to be seen for at least 30 minutes. She literally rolled her eyes at me and then went back to shining silverware directly across from our table. She did not even try to print the receipt (she was right next to the register) or alert another server. I was shocked. Best of luck to her in any future endeavors with that attitude. read more

We passed this place while walking around and it looked as though it could be a fun place, well we were wrong. We were steered to the bar down stairs which was dark and a bit dirty. Service was ok, as was the food. Not a very good selection of beer. There was really nothing special about the place and I would suggest people visit Le Pub Saint Alexander instead. read more

This pub is centrally located in Old Quebec, on a great street. There is attractive outside dining and the interior is quaint with brick and barrel vaulted ceilings. However, I can't say anything good about the food. We had 3 different dishes, none of which was even average. We visited during winter fest and had drinks and the poutine. Not bad. Went back a couple weeks later for lunch. I had the vegetarian burger. Was the thinnest burger I've ever seen. Flavor was ok though it was also a bit burnt. Bun was very dry and fell apart while trying to eat it. I asked if I was able to have a vegetable instead of French fries. He said yes I could have a salad so I got a small salad with it. My plate comes out and the salad was on there. And so we're the fries. Ugh. I got charged a $4 fee for "adding" a salad. Make sure if you ask if you can substitute something that they realize you do not want the other item. My husband and daughter got burgers. They both said they were not good. Atmosphere was nice. We will go back but really we would not get anything but drinks. read more

I had two half and half beers, half Guiness, half Harp. $10 each and like many posters, $14-17 for a burger. Great pub food, great drinks and great atmosphere! We usually come during Carnival for a snack and a drink to warm up but this year we came in the spring and were able to enjoy their outdoor seating perfect for people watching! We had the small nachos and a couple if beers. Great place! read more

On the negative side, the beer selection is pretty limited. We were disappointed with no real local Craft options. We got there about 10:45p. The hostess tried to be very helpful in pleading with a server to take our order because the kitchen closed at 11p. He finally did. Almost wish he didn't. Maybe the worst hummus I've ever tasted and the pizza option wasn't far behind that. Maybe we caught them on a bad night but with so many other options available, we wish we would have chosen better. No. Just no. Our son wanted a steak so we decided to try this place despite being surrounded by great restaurants. The menu did seem to have good variety. We were seated downstairs which was nice and cool on a very hot day. However we sat facing the kitchen, which made us not want to eat after watching the cooks touch all of the food, cooked and uncooked with no gloves on, for almost an hour while we waited for our food. We saw several orders sit under the heat lamp for 15-20 minutes waiting to be served. The same, huge bowl of fries also sat for an hour and the cook kept tossing it with his bare hands and then shoving the fries into containers to serve. When our food finally did come, our steaks were very over cooked with little taste and quite tough. We didn't eat those fries. Overall, feeling very disappointed and a little gross read more

We are vacationing here in Quebec and decided to try this pub for lunch. First being from America and not speaking French the sign out front said in French to wait there. It did say it in English underneath but I didn't see it. I walked past it a couple of feet and was rudely met by the hostess when I apologized and said I did understand the sign she said "what you can't read" and pointed to the English part underneath. Strike one. We got a table and waited about 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge out existence. We ordered drinks and by that time already knew what we wanted to eat. The food came out I. About 15 minutes or so the drinks came about 10 minutes after that. The food itself was not very good. I was very disappointed here. Love the ambiance and interior design, has 4 levels. Outdoors, ground floor, cellar and upstairs. Cellar has a bar, old wooden chairs and tables, bean bags and it resembles a quaint pub in a small Irish town. Located in a pretty happening location in the old Quebec city .
