We ended up here a few times for a pint or two and a poutine to share. We wanted to hear the live music, but every time we went, the entertainers stopped so that the World Cup could be shown on the huge flat screen TVs. Alas... But the beer was cold and the food was good. read more

Absolutely Loved this place. Stumbled across this place by accident but then later i heard its one of those few places in the old quebec city thats open on sunday late nights. We were starving so we ended up buying ALOT of food and drinks!! No! No regrets there coz everything was great. Loved the performance of the solo musician that night. I think his amazing talent and everything else about the place put together created a great ambiance for the place. Now to the best part ! Service! Our server was Mathieu (hopefully spelled the name correctly) and he was the cherry on top. We had to sit outside and it was a fairly cold day but to be honest we barely felt like complaining about it because he made us feel so welcome!! It could be that my 5 star rating is biased towards his amazing service but i think it deserves a good rating. We didn't expect such hospitality so it took us by surprise!! read more

We wanted an outdoor spot for a quick bite and a few drinks...needed a place to sit! We had a nice outside table; great for people watching. The server was very nice and and the poutine was good. We had never eaten it before....I liked it a lot. My wife said it was ok, but she's not a fan of potatoes; so there's that! It was a very touristy place (aren't they all in this area?) but it was good for what we needed read more

Food made us sick. Coffee creamer came out in a big lump and waiter made an excuse. He brought a new cup of coffee and the cup had a big lipstick print on it. Waiter said it's tough to get some lipstick off. Just gross. Stay away. It took 5 hours and lots of ginger ale to settle our stomachs. Thank goodness our dinner was terrific at a different place. read more

Stopped in here for some lunch while visiting Quebec City. Had a delicious burger with the most amazing salad. I believe they said the dressing had curry in it. Dear god it was amazing. Service was very pleasant and attentive as well. Definitely will swing by next time I'm in the area read more

A wonderful place to eat. I had ordered the classic burger and a homemade lemonade, both left me more than satisfied. The fries are what blew me away. Their warm a steamy inside and thick crispy outside was perfection, I wanted a whole plate of them instead of the burger. I felt the portion was too much, it was a quarter of the plate salad, half of the plate fries and a quater was the burger. It was overwhelming. The salad was decent, and the burger was overall average. I would come again to hang out with friends and have a nice meal for a lunch or evening bite. read more

Get the poutine. The murphy poutine is delicious, the potatoes were crispy the cheese curds were soft and a little melty and the gravy was hot and savory. The staff were very kind and friendly. The food came out quickly. We came here after walking around looking for a wuick bite. The poutine was very good. We also got the nachos which were kinda good. Honestly just get the poutine. The poutine was soooooo good, sauce was amazing. We also got the Greek salad which was so fresh, it had capers in it which I've never had before. We came on a Friday night so there was live music which was nice. It was extremely packed and very loud but on a snowy Quebec night this is just what we were looking for! read more

Decided to go for lunch to Murphy's on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I admit to going there mid-afternoon but there was a healthy amount of people anyways. We were seated right away in a cute corner, the staff was very friendly and efficient. We ordered drinks (bloody ceasar and Kilkenny's beer) and both took the fish and chips. The food didn't take too long and everything on our plate was delicious. Crispy hot fries, tasty salad and hot fish in a light and crunchy beer batter. The music was a good mix of american and irish and we enjoyed our visit. Pros - Delicious food: hot and fresh - Short wait (not in rush hour however) - Friendly staff - Great decor and atmosphere Cons - Beer is a bit pricey $$ - A bit pricey in general but since food was good it passes read more

I would not recommend this place. The only reason I gave 2 stars was the guy on the guitar was fun and the beer was cold. Service is poor. We didn't enjoy the pizza or fish and chips. I had to ask 3x for malt vinegar for the fish and chips. She finally went next door and got a to-go plastic little container, splashing as she brought it. Nobody seemed to care about the customer. read more

Food was terrible but the service was okay. They have music most of the day but it is a bit loud if you want to have conversation.

Food was great. Waitress was super friendly. Service was excellent. Good choice for vegetarians as well. Bar is amazing , music was decent. We went for lunch, evenings probably would be more fun. My teenage boys and me loved the place. read more

Great place with great food prepared quickly. Music sets a great tone and would recommend this place to anyone and everyome.

So I live in the States, but grew up in Eastern Canada and always fly in to Quebec when coming home, so I can spend time in Vieux Quebec, as my heart is tied to this city. Have passed Murphy's many times but never stopped in (ALWAYS great bands playing, but I normally travel alone, so don't normally frequent bars/pubs when alone). Queue January 6th, 2021, red Covid days, and I'm staying down the street, so stopped in for takeout. I'm in love with this place now! The food is good, their craft beer was great, the music is still awesome, but with all that I'll be back because of the people! With all the shit going on in the world, and watching the Trumpers riot Washington DC while I was waiting for my food, my heart has been heavy. But the staff were all very warm and upbeat, there was joy in the room and hope in the air, and great music filling the room. I know this is starting to sound corny, but when a place (filled with strangers) can lift your spirits when you don't think there's any way possible, you take notice. I also had a nice long conversation with the owner Jean-François, and left feeling happy, and hopeful, and reminded why I love this city so much - because of the people! So happy to see Covid hasn't taken hold of this place, and excited to hear they have plans of more local music and art to share with their customers this summer! See you all in May! Merci Beaucoup!! read more

Just perusing Quebec City during their Marathon Race and was in the mood for a smoked meat sandwich so I randomly picked Chez Murphy's. The hostess was pleasant and spoke English. My waitress, Drew, was amazing. Not only is she strikingly beautiful (like Nicole Kidman) but her service was impeccable. Her English sounded native but listening to her French, gave me the impression that she was well versed in both languages. I ordered the smoked sandwich and it was THE best one I've had, even compared to in Montreal! Drew helped me with my beer of choice, a dark stout and she did not disappoint. She recommended the Aphrodisiaque (local brand). Loved everything about the meal, the beer, and the service. Thank you Drew for making my meal in Quebec perfect! read more

I'm just reviewing our receipts from our vacation and was reminded that our worst meal over 2+ weeks was here. We stopped for a drink and wanted to share a small meal. Their Murphy's Smoked Meat Poutine sounded like a good dish to share. When it finally came, the potatoes had been deep fried several times, the gravy was lukewarm so the curds were still solid. The smoked meat was minimal and the onion rings were non-existent. If I could have caught our waiter's attention, it would have been sent back. The beer was tasty but I would not recommend eating here! read more

This pub was alright. Had great live music that was a mix of traditional Irish and more modern pop. When we got there the kitchen had just closed. That was fine but we asked if they had any type of snack and the answer was no because the kitchen was closed. About an hour later we see a waitress handing out chips. I felt lied to and deceived. I want my chips. read more

Turist trap. Can I give less than 1*? 9cad minimun for beer. 8.25 cad "happy" hour for boreale. Terrible slow and unfriendly staff. We were sitting by the kitchen, waitor spilled our beer on us & table and was not even sorry. The bar is loud and the performers were very mediocre. Go anywhere else, trust me! read more

Quebec has some great bars, this is NOT one of them. Poor service I think that is what they were trying to do over their conversations with one another. Ordered a vodka tonic, I got vodka...close and I do like vodka but come on that is about as basic a drink as you can get. Avoid! read more

Chevre (goat) pizza on menu stated it had grilled peppers pesto and black olives ..could not find it on the pizza though...must have disappeared on its way from the kitchen to our table. Did not like this place at all. First off, it took about 15-20 minutes for the server to approach our table to even bring water, and mind you, the place was not crowded at all. When he came, he was very unapologetic. We ordered the nacho du pub and they was very dry and way too crispy. The stone fire flatbread pizza was also very dry and way too salty, I didn't even eat half of it. I tasted my boyfriends burger and it was definitely not worth almost $19, there was nothing special about it, I could have grilled it in my backyard. Very disappointed with this place. read more

Don't come here if you're hungry. Service is really slow. Food was not worth the wait.

Had poutine and fish and chips. Both were good. No complaints about the food. We went for lunch and enjoyed it. The service was slow and inattentive. The place was empty so no excuses. Never got offered a beverage. The waitress wasn't very friendly. But then we got a different waitress who was very nice. Not sure about the switch. read more

Decent food but drinks are crazy expensive! Most cocktails are double the price of anywhere else.

We were with a group of 10 people so I expected some issues with timing and such. But was really disappointed when our food came out spaced over an hour. 2 people in our group had eaten and had 2 rounds of drinks before the last of our group was served. Out of 10 people only one order came out correctly. Most of us were just too hungry after waiting almost an hour for our food, to wait for them to fix our orders so we ate what they brought us. Food was decent (it's barfood so we had low expectations ) but overpriced. The nice college kids serving us were trying hard, but clearly they are either poorly trained or the kitchen is not running properly. In our three hour dinner there we saw two of them wipe out on the floor and break dishes. I feel sorry for them, but not sorry enough to go back. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Three couples walked out because the food took over 45 minutes we almost did but then we stayed and let's say not worth that Long of a wait and the excuse was, 'we did not prepare for how busy it would be.'
