Came in here during a Sunday car show. The place was hopping and the menu was limited for the day due to the crowds. Our waitress was pleasant enough but obviously hurried. It took awhile to get our check and hand off our payment. I ordered the Thai wrap and it was refreshing and light. It did have a bit too much dressing on it. My mom ordered a burger and it was huge! She ate about a quarter of it. The Italian beef also scored well in the group. I would definitely come back on a day they aren't busy to get a better feel. read more

This was my family's first time visiting the Pub 64 and we were not very pleased. Our waitress was very rude when we first arrived. The food was actually pretty enjoyable. We ordered the pub burger, crispy chicken melt wrap, cuban and shepard's pie. The least favorite of the group was the shepard's pie, but that's understandable with most of the food being bar food. We ordered the pretzels with beer cheese as an appetizer and the waitress forgot to put in the order. She brought it out after our entrees came out and were still charged for it. In town on business and always like to try non-chain businesses. It was a cold and rainy day which just cries for comfort food. Menu looked good so in we went. The place was rather empty when we arrived. Seating was our first issue. High tops and stools. My hubby has back issues and high tops are just not good for him. However, a couple of the high tops were against the wall and the seat was like a raised booth seat and a platform for his feet which made it comfortable. That gets a star. The music was way to loud as most restaurants are these days. I think their thinking is...hey if they are yelling at each other for conversation the music must be a the right volume. Ugh I asked the girl if the could possible turn it down a bit. She did so immediately. Another star. On to the food. We ordered the burger and decided to split it as it was huge. Asked for it to be medium. It was almost raw. I give it a star but not sure why. read more

Review overall: Mediocre food At above average prices. Atmosphere is small but ok. They do have a couple kids items on the menu but I wouldn't say it's "kid friendly" There's nothing for kids to do (no crayons, etc) About our visit: We arrived before the kitchen opened and asked for something - crackers- anything for the kids. At first the waitress said they had nothing (what bar has NO food until 5) but then brought us some chips and cheese. When we finally could order we thought our food would come our quickly since there were not many other patrons. I went to Pub 64 based on the yelp rating. I'm a somewhat skeptical individual but I have to say that they earned all 5 stars that are posted here. The menu was not so expansive but that's ok because they're really good at what they have to offer. I had the "Import" burger, which was a burger topped with sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and onions on a brioche bun. The burger was a very generous size; I would probably estimate it between 1/3lbs and 1/2lbs. I ordered the burger medium but it came to me medium-well. Despite it being overcooked, the burger was still very delicious; it hadn't lost any flavor and was still juicy. I've had other mushroom and Swiss burgers before, but the mushrooms used on this burger were bold with the perfect amount of flavor to know they were there. The Swiss cheese that was used was everything I would expect a Swiss cheese to be; it was pungent and gooey and had the perfect melted cheese texture. These bold flavors were then balanced by the onions. The onions looked like the spicy purple onions you would put on your taco at an authentic Mexican restaurant. Much to my surprise, these onions, though expecting hot and savory, were cool and sweet that accented the rest of the burger very well; I don't recommend ordering this burger without the onions. The burger was accompanied by homemade potato chips and coleslaw. I must note that I did order fires instead of the chips, but I am actually glade they gave me the chips in the long run. I also ordered a little side cup of their house made beer cheese, more on that later. Now, I'm not a fan of coleslaw unless it's on my fish tacos or pulled pork, so I can't really comment on the quality of the coleslaw other than it looked fresh and healthy. However, the potato chips were fantastic; they were a nice thick cut, they weren't overly oily or overcooked which happens all too often at other restaurants that offer house made chips. The chips, by themselves, were delicious with a nice crunch... but... I would strongly recommend getting the beer cheese sauce to dip them in. Unfortunately, I can't think of a way to describe this cheese sauce that will do it justice, but I will say it vaguely reminded me of a queso blanco dip you would have at a Mexican restaurant. While there were some mistakes made, my overall experience exceeds pleasant; the restaurant/bar was clean and quaint, the service was fast, friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. If you are in the area, I suggest a visit to this establishment. read more

Had dinner at Pub 64 last night. What a great experience, the food was high quality and very tasty, something you would find in the city. We had the potato appetizers that were excellent and our sandwiches with the parmesan chips were great. We had great service and the restaurant décor is very relaxing. Very disappointed that this was just another 'bar food' restaurant, Sycamore did not need another bar, they need a superior steak house with a nice atmosphere. The prices are high and menu limited. Excellent! I have been waiting for a place like this to open up in the Dekalb/Sycamore area for a while.The food is excellent, the Parmesan chips with beer cheese are impossible to stop eating. The only downside is there is limited seating, so coming during peak hours on weekends will pretty much guarantee a wait. And for being such a small place it was surprisingly loud. read more
