Wings were pretty big and delicious. A few wings were fried a bit harder then I expected but were still good. Also would preferred half wings half drums. They were all drums. We stopped by the 217 Pub last night for date night and dinner before theater. I was curious due to the fact that as an Uber driver, I had dropped and picked up customers from there frequently, and most gave favorable comments on the Pub. The decor was what you might find average for a Pub, floors unfinished, all tables, no booths, and just average, nothing that would bring you back. But the service and food should give you all the excuses to return. We were served right away, and the service was excellent from then on. I ordered a Black and Tan, since they featured several Guinness blends of beer. I'm a Guinness and Bass Ale guy when it comes to the Black and Tan, but their ale subsitute was more than ample. I liked how they had several to choose from, although I don't know about the Black and Blue (Blue Moon?) Price was reasonable. We shared the Corn on Cobb salad and the 1/2 pound burger, normal fare, but a good test for the popular burger and salad. The salad was the best $10 salad in town, large, lots of natural toppings, including romaine lettuce, real bacon, a whole hard boiled egg, nicely broiled chicken in bite sized chunkcs, and even avocado. Nice size and the salad dressing was good. The burger was exceptional, not frozen, fresh and hand made, cooked perfectly medium, good toppings included, and tasted just a gourmet burger. Couldn't be better. And not only was it a nice offering to get the chili as a side dish, the chili was really good. I think the extra ingredient that separated it from others was a hint of barbeque sauce, and like four types of beans, very nice. The dinner would be very hard to top, especially for the price. Their salads are amazing!! On two separate trips, I have had the steak salad and the corn on the cob salad. Both are flavorful and extremely filling. They also has $3 Craft beers during happy hour. The bartenders weren't the friendliest, but they gave good service and were attentive. Good music playing, good food and drinks. Must try for happy hour! read more

My mom got a tenderloin, it was giant and tasted great. We were there on a Sunday with my 1 year old, they had high chairs with buckles. There was buy one get one half off appetizers. So I got the chicken quesadilla and fried pickles (came with homemade ranch) both were tasty. The service was fast. The waitress forgot to put the buy one get one half off but, was quick to fix it. We decided to try a new place on a Sunday afternoon, so we went to Pub 217. The place was a little dark, and could some work on decor to give it more atmospere. The big horseshoe bar was cool, but the place didnt really have an apparent identity. Menus and a drink list were brought quickly. The tap list was good, although I was surprised not to see more selection from Lionbridge and Turner Alley, given they brew in CR. There was a good selection of canned and bottled beer as well. I ordered a breaded chicken sandwich and it was fantastic. My wife thought her Rachel sandwich was very good as well. The food made it worth the trip! Overall, Pub 217 is a little generic, as bars go, and needs to build some character, but I would think it to be a fun place to hang out after work, or before a show. They definitely do a great job with their food, and the service was good. I will be back to eat soon! read more

Clearly freezer burnt pretzel bites, waitress left while we were waiting for drinks and food and my girlfriend and I weren't checked on for a solid 45 minutes. Bartenders pressured customers to chug their drinks. They said they needed to chug their drinks or they were going to take them. It wasn't even bar close yet. A bartender should never tell a customer to chug their drink. If they're worried about getting some kind of fine then say that instead of just saying "chug your drink and get out". read more

Great bathrooms. Very clean around the toilet rim. Toilet paper is two-ply: not ideal but acceptable. Soap smells like green apples-- nice touch. Had to give my compliments to the janitor. Great place for both 1's and 2's! Would recommend to a friend! read more

Great food and great atmosphere had a really good time there before going to a concert

I had to take a trip to Cedar Rapids with my mom for a very serious matter but we decided to grab lunch. Time was not really on our side and not knowing the area, we didn't know where to go. She caught a glimpse of the Pub 217 sign and I quickly hopped on Yelp to see what folks had said about it. After two reviews, we were sold on the idea of checking it out. We walked in and the ambiance was awesome - it was a fun but pretty classy take on the pub idea. Our server, Ally C, was fantastic! She promptly greeted us and took our drink orders as we began to peruse the many delicious sounding menu offerings. There was really not a single item on the menu that I would not have eaten. As we didn't have much time and no place to store left overs, mom and I decided to split an entrée. We ordered the "basic" 1/2 pound Fresh Steak Burger with sweet potato fries. The kitchen divided the burger for us as we each received a huge portion of fries. We both agreed that there is no way that the fries were really half of what they normally serve one person, however, after seeing food delivered to other patrons, it is entirely possible. Everything we saw at the other tables looked amazing. We got there a little after noon and were done in less than 30 minutes which was perfect as we had an appointment at 1. The menu was hilarious - I took a picture of every page and will post them here for your entertainment. If we lived any closer or had any reason to pass through again, we would most definitely visit Pub 217 and I encourage everyone else to as well!!! read more

Great new bar in downtown Cedar Rapids. The beer selection is good, and the service has been very good so far. As expected there are a few hiccups now and again, but I give them a pass since they are new. This is a new added comment...I do not like their wings. That said, I prefer a crispy wing with a traditional buffalo wing-type sauce. These wings have not met my standard after three tries at three different times. In short, their wings are awful by my particular criteria. I haven't tried much of the food yet, but their wieners are very good. I must say that they have the best wieners that I've put into my mouth. Almost too big, but you start at the tip and work your way down to the end. The Yelp map is wrong. I stopped in for lunch for the first time today. The smell wafting from the restaurant drew me in. The BELT bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato was delicious. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice too. I wish they offered week day lunch discounts to the business district workers like many many of the other restaurants do but I have no complaints about Pub 217. Went there on a Sunday late afternoon/evening with my wife after she had been there with friends the week before. I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries and my wife had shrimp tacos. There were four people at another table and six or seven at the bar. After an eternity our food arrived and we were very disappointed. The shrimp in my wife's tacos were cold and the chicken breast on my sandwich was about as thick as two sheets of paper and was also overlooked and cold. The French fries were somewhat hot and the only positive was that the beer was cold. I will admit the only reason I came here was for the pokestop out front but the food is so good I keep coming back. The Staff is polite and prompt. The food is insanely good.
