She can read multi-syllable words more confidently than ever before. Her reading abilities have improved to the point where she is reading street and business signs, a task she showed no interest in during her kindergarten year. Each tutoring session with Alecia is a unique experience tailored to our daughter's needs. Given her struggles with emotional regulation and ADHD, sessions have taken place in unconventional settings such as the floor, under tables, or on whiteboards. Alecia's adaptability and understanding of our daughter's needs in the moment are truly commendable. Navigating the world of language is challenging, and so is advocating for a child's needs in and out of the classroom. Alecia takes the time to explain why our daughter struggles with reading, to name one thing, and also how the activities she is working on will help. Alecia also provides suggestions on interventions that may help in the classroom that follow along with our daughter's IEP. Alecia's communication skills are exceptional. She is always responsive and takes great care to ensure we, as parents, understand the care plan. Her ability to explain complex issues in a clear and concise manner is reassuring. If you are looking to add an experienced, holistic Speech Therapist to your care team, do not pass up Alecia with Thrive Therapy.

We had nothing but an amazing and highly professional experience and our 2,5 yr old was very sad when we no longer needed the weekly speech sessions because his speech developed so well thanks to Jill's skills. When our child aged out of a First Steps Talking Time agreed to allow for us to pay for ongoing outpatient care for our child at school and home. This care continued for two years and in that time we experienced high turn over with the Speech Theripists assigned to our child. Our child's outpatient Speech Therpy sessions became unpredictable and on several occasions our Speech Therapist didn't show up. Then to our disappointment with no notice we were told that Talking Time could no longer provide services to our special needs child. Failure to provide our family adequate notice left us scrambling to find alternative speech therapy for our child. Our family has paid this school thousands of dollars. Disappointing ending to a long and expensive relationship that was very important to our family and our child.

We were only at Kids Innovative Developmental Services for a little over a year, but I have nothing…read morebut great things to say about the people who work here and the services we received. My kid worked with Christine, the speech-language pathologist, on a stutter that developed when he was in late elementary school. By the time he was in middle school, it was something he wanted to seek help with, so we reached out to Kids Innovative. I was a little concerned that they might not take my kid because he was so much older than the kids in the pictures on their website! And yes, it's true that Kids Innovative seems to skew toward younger kids -- we saw a lot of preschool- and elementary-aged kids during our visits. My kid was usually the oldest in the waiting room. But I think it's because speech and occupational impairments tend to present themselves at a younger age. Nevertheless, they DO take older kids, and bonus: they DO take many kinds of insurance! Very few speech therapy places take insurance, so it was a huge relief to find this place. A year of working with Christine helped my kid tremendously. She was patient, kind and always available to answer questions, and very flexible with her schedule. She would give us "homework" to work on or ideas to think about, which I appreciated. Eventually, my kid aged out of Kids Innovative, and Christine gave us a recommendation for a more specialized therapist who works with older kids. So we've transitioned to a new therapist, but I'll always be thankful for the help we got at Kids Innovative.

ZERO STARS - THIS PLACE IS A DEATH CAMP. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE…read more If I could give Community North Rehabilitation Center zero stars--or better yet, negative stars--I absolutely would. This facility nearly killed my mother, and I want to make sure no one else goes through the nightmare we did. My mom arrived at Community North Rehab after suffering a stroke. She had some mild speech impairment and early-stage dementia, but she was mentally sharp, alert, and active. She also had a stent between her kidney and bladder. Despite her condition, she was prematurely discharged from the hospital, under the all-too-common excuse of "testing will be done outpatient"--which really just means "get them out, we're done here," even if they're still on the brink of a medical crisis. From the moment she entered this facility, she declined rapidly. She stopped eating, became lethargic, and couldn't even complete her therapy sessions. Staff blamed "severe dementia," which was a lie. Before coming here, she was engaged, talkative, and functioning far above the level they claimed. The reason she couldn't participate in therapy? She was constantly needing to use the bathroom--a huge red flag they brushed off as nothing. I raised hell. I demanded answers. I asked to speak to the doctor overseeing her care, who coldly told me there was no reason to send her back to the ER. I asked him, "So, blood in the urine and needing to use the bathroom ten times in a half hour is normal?" And he said yes--as if that was something any human being should accept. They insisted she was "fine" and that this was normal for someone with a stent and told us to take her home for outpatient testing. So I did. Within one day of being home, she was practically unresponsive. She had explosive diarrhea, slept the entire day, and was only awake for about 45 minutes. I told my husband, "We have to get her to the ER--now." We took her to a different hospital, and within hours, they diagnosed her with C. diff--a dangerous, highly contagious infection that she most likely contracted either at Community North Hospital or at the Rehab Center. And what did the rehab staff do when she complained about needing to constantly use the bathroom? Nothing. They ignored her. I was there--I heard her begging to be excused from physical therapy because she had to go to the bathroom. And the staff still insisted she finish her tasks. Meanwhile, I kept repeating, "She is not doing well!" and was met with blank stares. I have to call out Robin, her case manager, by name. She was apathetic, stubborn, and completely dismissive of my concerns. Every time I raised a red flag, she gaslit me--saying there was "nothing they could do." I cried. I sobbed. I begged for help. Robin remained completely unmoved. Cold. Detached. As if my mother's suffering meant nothing. Now, my mother is fighting for her life in another hospital. And I can't help but believe that if Community North Rehab had listened--had actually cared--she might not be in this position. This place is a death camp. And the most twisted part? When I first arrived, I saw their signs and banners proudly announcing they were voted "Best Rehabilitation Center." I was fooled. Duped. Don't let the polished signage and smiling faces fool you--they are not what they appear. Please, for the love of your family--do not bring your loved one here.

The majority of the times,I'm there; the aides function as baby sitters. sitting at the desk or other chairs minimally interacting with residents. Sometimes the TV is on but most residents are not wheeled close enough to watch or hear. Music is not played, although research clearly shows music is excellent therapy for patients with dementia, which the majority of residents suffer from. I will usually play music on my phone while there and residents visually perk up. A couple times, I've asked the aides to please put some music on to no avail. My sister is in her wheelchair all day from morning till night. When I come in, she is sitting with her head just hanging down. She is verbal and experiences minimal conversation with the aides, as they sit, observe with minimal interaction; virtual babysitting. The room is usually just dead silent. There is an activities lady who comes in during the week days and she clearly makes a wonderful difference for these dear residents. Early evenings and weekends are a depressing atmosphere at Maple Park. Ive spoken with my sister's social worker with minimal results. The aides appear bored and rarely smile with the residents. Thank you for taking time to read this.

This is not the prettiest facility, but please, please, PLEASE don't let that hold you back!…read more I moved my very sick father, from a beautiful facility in Carmel, where he was ignored, his health deteriorated, and he was hospitalized several times. The staff at American Senior Communities in Westfield takes care of their patients, keeps the family updated, and works their best to get every last benefit you can out of Medicare and Medicaid. The facility director gave me his personal cell phone number; and the head of nursing gave me her cell phone number as well. You will always be able to reach someone. It is a wonderful facility, that will take great care of your family member. One of my dad's nurses actually sketched a picture of him, and shared it with me; she truly cared for my father. I will take excellent care over pretty rooms any day.
