The jerk chicken dinner was better than any I have had in the Caribbean itself. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection! The Rasta Pasta has a special "zip " that sets it above anything I have ever had in the States. Excellent food and spectacular atmosphere! read more

Clean restaurant. Not big but can sit a few people. Parking is around the back. Staff met and greeted me right away. Had carribean music playing in the middle of the day. Will be trying the food to update this post. read more

PT Just Jerk is an absolute gem--a true portal into a Jamaican oasis. The moment you step in, you're welcomed by warm, friendly staff who make you feel like family. The space is clean, spacious, and filled with good vibes that instantly put you at ease. A friend recommended this spot to me, and I'm so glad they did. I stopped by for the first time yesterday and was so blown away by the flavors, I came back today for another plate! I had the jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and sweet plantains--everything was seasoned to perfection and full of authentic Jamaican flavor. The chicken was juicy with just the right kick, the sides were comforting, and the plantains were the perfect sweet touch. Between the incredible food, welcoming atmosphere, and amazing staff, PT Just Jerk has officially become a new favorite. Highly recommend! read more

Customer service is terrible. don't bother calling ahead because you'll be waiting. Jerk chicken isn't great, it's more like baked chicken.

I was recently in Jamaica so comparing to that experience. Note that I only ate jerk chicken in my hotel, which I'm assuming is average (or even below average) compared to the good spots there. How did this compare? Well it was okay. It's not spicy at all, although still flavorful. The chicken is cooked well (its juicy), although its not cooked to order, so doesn't have that fresh grilled taste. Pricing is very reasonable though, hence the 4 stars. Parking is easy, as they have a lot. Note: prices on grubhub (via yelp) are a few dollars higher than the menu prices, so I recommend calling in your order. read more

Saw some good reviews of this place and wanted to check it out. It's off a main busy road so was glad it had available parking lot. Colorful outside and inside reminded me of a bus stop diner. There's some table seating but also counter seats. Small place so more of a takeout spot. I ordered the small jerk chicken meal that came with rice and peas and cabbage. I ate it when I got home. The chicken was nicely flavored. Rice was good but didn't have any peas and there wasn't much cabbage. It was okay in my opinion. read more

The service was amazing upon stepping into the establishment. The owner greeted us immediately. She offered samples and suggestions. Between the six of us we got the curry chicken, curry goat, jerk chicken and oxtail. We also sampled the Bulla it was delicious Jamaican dessert. We came all the way from Delaware and well definitely be back!!! I didn't catch the owners name, but the experience won't be forgotten!!! Thank you so much for your hospitality being all the way from New Orleans and living up north now this has place has definitely made me feel like I was eating one of my grandmas meal a must try!!! read more

Great food. Excellent and quick service and very friendly staff. They play good music as well though a bit too loud sometimes. The dinning area isn't the largest but it's quaint. Favorite Jamaican spot in Newark. read more

I was craving good jerk and had passed this place a hundred times, meaning to finally try it. We ordered Jerk Chicken meal and Jerk Pork meal. Disclaimer:: I'm from The Bronx, NY. I grew up in a Jamaican area where some of the best Jamaican food existed. My kids Dad is Jamaican. So I say that to say I KNOW GREAT Jamaican food. The Jerk chicken was really good. Smoky flavorful and just right so 3.7 for that. Not the best but definitely good. It was a dry exterior but juicy interior. Jerk was flavored lightly but well throughout. The Rice and peas were bland nothing to wrote home about. The Jerk pork was very fatty, which usually I don't mind if done right. The jerk seasoning was lacking very much. Everything was just one texture. Soft. Not up to par. I would not get this again but will get the jerk chicken again. read more

Ordered from here 5/29 and unfortunately I ended up with food poisoning. I had a MINI order of goat w/ rice & beans and cabbage. It was the only thing I ate all day so I know this is what's causing my stomach to feel like a wreckkkk!!!!!!!! Horrible, just horrible! read more

Still on the hunt for good Jamaican food after moving out of Brooklyn. I placed an online order for pickup: jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I didn't hate the food; it just wasn't very good. The cabbage was dry and overly salty. The rice and peas (or maybe the jerk sauce on top?) had a sweet taste rather than the smoky, spice that I was expecting. The chicken was pretty juicy, but the jerk sauce wasn't very flavorful or spicy, and the flavor wasn't all the way through the meat. For the high marks from other reviewers, I had high hopes for this place. But it was pretty mid. read more

Overall experience was great. From the moment we stepped in to when we left. Ordered the jerk chicken. It was smoky and nicely cooked and the sauce was mild, flavorful and not spicy. Sides were seasoned nicely and the portions are filling. Very friendly customer service definitely would go again. read more

Found this gem of a spot in Irvington, NJ. The best service I have ever experienced. They all made us feel like family. They started off with a tasting menu of oxtail, Jamaican jerk pork, and Jamaican jerk chicken which was all absolutely delicious. We all decided to go with oxtail. Literally all the food fell off the bone and it was obvious that the food was cooked with love. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. GOOD MUSIC TOO. Prices are very affordable and they take card! read more

Please come visit this place if not for the food then for the lovely people who work here. We were welcomed so warmly and the owner offered us a taste test since it was our first time visiting. "Taste test" was quite generous as she gave us so much meat to try! We were almost full before we even ordered! Great hospitality and you can tell the family is so passionate about Jamaican food and culture. Lovely authentic family-run business. We ordered a large jerk chicken, small oxtail, and a side of Rasta pasta. All of that cost around $40. The jerk chicken has a wonderful Smokey flavor and you can see the grill they use in the restaurant. The oxtail was super flavorful as well. Both entrees came with plentiful sides: plantains, cabbage, and beans and rice. The pasta was great too! We had plenty of leftovers to enjoy for dinner. I'm looking forward to my next visit. Also a bonus they have parking in the rear. read more

My friends and I wanted to get Caribbean food and tried this spot. When we arrived I parked on the street in front. We walked in and was greeted. I ordered the stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. It was ready in about 15 minutes. When we got back we ate and the food was really good. I enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and the rice and peas was good as well. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. I will definitely return to this establishment. read more

Went on a Sunday around 12pm. The inside was nice. Has indoor seating if you choose to eat in and the staff was very friendly. I ordered a large oxtails with two sides (rice and beans, cabbage) and a large Jerk chicken with two sides(same as above). Each platter comes with two sides and plantains. So, the oxtails and chicken were both dry. They tasted as if they were reheated from the day before as opposed to being freshly made the day of. Additionally, the rice with the jerk chicken platter did not come with sauce poured over it and as such was dry and lacked flavor. (I would recommend asking for jerk sauce poured over the rice and chicken). The plantains and cabbage were good. Overall, I was a little disappointed at the meat and rice. I will go again but probably at a different time of day when the food is likely to be fresh. read more

There are not very many Caribbean restaurants in the neighborhood and the couple that are here have to be put to the test. This place is small, so to dine would be quite cramped. I usually order my food to go and I usually order from here when I'm really tired of the same fast food places and want something different, like a really good cooked meal. I think the service is ok. I think the prices are a bit high, but everything has gone up by at least 20-30% since the pandemic. Their food is pretty decent. The jerk pork and chicken are tasty and not as spicy/hot, so it's bearable once it hits your mouth Their rice and peas could really be bit more on the shelly side and not so soft and together. I'm times past, your jerk meats were usually served right from the jerk pit, but now it seems, they go to the back of the restaurant (I presume where it's already cooked and stored) to get it. They also do catering just in case you are wondering. read more

Nice spot in the cut that we never would have found had I not seen on Yelp!! The proprietor is very welcoming. The Jerk pork is divine.

Amazing comfort food, you will need a nap after eating there lol, Nicky was an amazing host as well. I was a little skeptical at first because i wasn't getting those Jamaican spices aroma but boy oh boy when that food came out, I was hooked immediately, absolutely delicious and yes I got all the aromas as soon as i opened my plate, will visit again read more

This food tastes like home and prepared by friends wit the ocean roaring in the background. The great atmosphere and taste is an experience (and they travel - try the catering). I was recommended to Just Jerk by a good friend of mine. We were greeted by the owner who gave us a warm welcome. She was so GOOD to us. We ordered the oxtail with cabbage and rice & peas. The owner even asked if I wanted extra gravy over my rice lol. My husband and I got a platter to share and I'm lowkey upset because it was soooo good I'll snap a pic the next time, this time the food didn't have a chance read more

This place doesn't give an authentic Jamaican feel, Jamaican vibe or Jamaican taste. The food from this place is a HELL NO! When I went in there it was a Spanish guy who went in the back and made the food. He wasn't even of natural Jamaican descent. I cannot believe this is considered a Caribbean restaurant. They need to visit the Caribbean and do some soul-searching on Jamaican food and how it is cooked season, prepared and how it is served. I wouldn't recommend this to my dog and his friends to go and eat. I would not recommend this to anyone, anything, or anybody. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Please don't go to this place, I promise you that you will hate it. read more

First time trying Jamaican food. I walk in and the smell hits me, immediately I'm transported back in time to memories when I was a child in my grandmothers kitchen back in Romania....crazy how it did that just by smell alone. After that I knew I was going to invest in this food. Oxtail, Jerk Chicken, Rice, Chicken & Beef patties....OMG how come I never tried this sooner. Truly a blessing to have stumbled upon this place. Cherry on top was how welcoming they were towards me, all around good for my soul. May God bless this place and bring prosperity to it. I've been meaning to review this place for a while they are AMAZING! I'm a big time foodie and when I saw that they were opening a new Caribbean place by me I couldn't wait to stop by!!! They are friendly I've been here about 5 times and every time I've felt welcomed and greeted with a smile!! They are super clean as well which is always a plus! Now there are several Caribbean places up the street and literally one on the same block and I've been to all but THIS PLACE has the BEST TASTING CARIBBEAN FOOD OUT OF ALL OF THEM!!! I'm not big on jerk but their jerk sauce is amazing! Their oxtails and curry chicken /goat are my favorite! As someone from the islands their food is amazing I'm surprised they don't have a bigger crowd running in. With some advertisement and a great marketing strategy this place could really do big things! Also the portion sizes are Big and the prices are reasonable!! Oh and they have a $6 lunch special I heard about mon-fri! read more

Incredibly caring atmosphere, just by the amount of care put in the meals gives this place a perfect store. They allowed us to taste any meat that we wanted as well as even gave us a Rasta Pasta on the house. They were incredibly kind throughout the entirety of the stay. The food was also great, tasted home cooked. I got a Large Jerk Chicken & Small Ox tails, both of which the portions were large and sufficed. The sauce and seasoning for the jerk chicken was amazing. I can not stress enough, local and home cooked styled restaurants like this is what family businesses is all about and is definitely a hidden gem in the area. read more

The BEST homemade style Jamaican food EVER, period, no arguments, beyond debates, full stop! Apparently PT stands for People's Temple which is a noble concept but visitors to this scrumptious food establishment have made it Patricia Trisha after the name of the owner. Regardless, just jerk up and enjoy the ride of the best home style, freshly prepared, around the hour, by caring hands who got their game on point, made from scratch Jamaican deliciousness. Opened during the past three years in a safe and growing neighborhood of Irvington, New Jersey, PT Just Jerk joined the market is quickly taken over. The restaurant features home style cooked meals available for dine in and for take out, with catering availability as well. They have bar stools, and booths for seating. I visited PT Just Jerk on a Saturday night, 30 minutes before closing time and was able to try almost every dish in the menu. There wasn't any concern here with closing time affecting food quality at those closing times like many other businesses including warmth, quantity, quality or service. The food and service here were superior and the dishes I tried were delicious and fresh. I was very impressed when a regular customer walked in 10 minutes before closing hours and the owner accommodated his order of fish despite that taking at least 30 minutes as it was prepared fresh, especially after he mentioned his ill mom who isn't eating the hospital food nearby. If Jamaican grandma eats here, then there is no doubt I was in the right place. Must I say the interior was simple, and doesn't reflect the quality of the food. I am not a red meat person but I have enjoyed every single dish here, the veggies, jerk chicken (sooo moist), stew chicken, curry chicken, oxtail, jerk pork, the veggie platter, the white rice as well as the rice and peas, the plantains, the Jamaican patties, and lastly I was able to sample the red snapper and oh my god, you should try no where else. Hands down. Don't waist your time or money else where. Hands down, PT got it best. Parking spots available in front of the business as well as in the street. The prices are very reasonable to the portions you get. PT and Just Jerk friends, Bon Appetit. read more

I literally just finished eating my takeout and felt obligated to show this place some love because it was that good. I am still licking some oxtail gravy from my upper lip as I type because wasting it on a napkin would be wrong. The smell in the car was something serious. You can smell the ambers from the grill on the chicken (that's a good thing). Got home and got right to it. The chicken is fresh, juicy, well seasoned, a light smokey taste from the grill and the sauce was very good. The reason I came was because I was in the mood for oxtails. My search took me to Just Jerk and I'm so glad it did. You only need a fork or spoon to mix it all up and have a vehicle to get to your mouth. The oxtail was so tender it would fall off the bone if you looked at it wrong. Not only was it tender but delicious. I will definitely be back. You should go try and then you'll be back. ENJOY!!! read more

I work near by and end up coming here multiple days a week. So fantastic with friendly staff!

Loved everything here from the food to the hospitality. The Jerk Chicken was very tasty. Chicken pieces are big. Small has 2 pieces, medium with 3 and large with 4 pieces. We also tried the curry chicken mini meal and Mac and Cheese side, even those are very yummy . It's a must try place if you love Jerk Chicken. Came here after a quick stop from the airport doing a yelp search ... was not disappointed at all! A little hole in the wall spot but these are usually the best.
