I came here to pick up wine for the holidays. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner who gave us a tour of the wines available. I am not a professional in wines, however I do enjoy the occasional glass. The owner was able to select the perfect wine based on my limited descriptive capabilities. And even offer recommendations for similar flavors, which I would enjoy. His expertise helped make my holidays exceptional. I am grateful to have had a professional help me select my holiday wine. In addition to the friendly service, the store itself was well organized. There was art everywhere which gave it a rustic feel. The beverages were clearly organized in a way which made it easy to tour the different selections. They even had fun posts for local events on their pillar. I'm a Silver Lake native and have so many fond memories of this location when it was El Croillo Market. The Cuban family who owned it treated all of us like family. It's a shame that the new wine shop has such a different vibe. I had a really poor experience yesterday when an employee gave me a cold look over the dogs. This is my favorite wine shop in all of LA for many reasons. I never drank wine until I tried a bottle of Tre dame rose some years ago during the pandemic. Since then, I've come to psychic for every special occasion. I know I'll find something incredible for birthday dinners, potlucks or celebrating the holidays with family. Such a good neighborhood wine shop! My only wish is that they made it more evident on their Yelp page, social, or website that they're only open for curbside and that you need to call ahead (D'oh! Should've checked out Tobi K's review ahead of time). I was given a gift card for my birthday and headed here on a Friday afternoon only to find that they're not open for shopping right now. The upside? I gave them a call and whoever was managing the shop was totally helpful, gave me a great recommendation, and I was able to pay over the phone for a contactless pickup. I can absolutely give five stars to that! I'm exploring natural wines lately and asked about a two popular-ish brands over the phone. They don't carry either, but the staff member went through a few similar wines while also highlighting the winemaker, where the wine is made, and the price point. How helpful is that? I'd definitely take a virtual tasting class or something like that if this shop were to offer it. Parking was easy on Bellevue and (especially when the world isn't struck down by a pandemic), this is a darling block with a great place to get your haircut (The Harbor) and a bagel shop (haven't been yet, but this was a nice reminder). read more

The number one reason this shop is the best Natural Wine shop in La is that the crew there is 1000% Not Pretentious. No one there trips and acts like they're some tenured professor at the Oxford or Yale of bio-natural wines. They're there to help and make sure you have an awesome experience and keep Coming back. Stopped by for a bottle of wine on the way to the Hollywood Bowl and was warmly welcomed on the way in. They have a great, large selection of natural wines to choose from. I am not wine savvy so we asked for help choosing a white wine. The woman helping was knowledgeable and personable and made the process easy and quick. My brother and I went to pick up some wine there a couple months ago and as we were waiting outside while he was on the phone with a friend (for a short period of time), a employee came outside and asked if we needed help (but was very much said as in "get out of here and move along " vibe) basically trying to shoo us away. And may I add my brother and I are not white. They decided to specifically ask us and not the other white folks outside waiting around. We felt picked on, like we didn't matter to them because of how we looked. This establishment really needs to reconsider their values and employees they hire. Y'all are literally in a neighborhood that was majority black and brown folks just 10 years ago! Do your research and remember the community you decided to come into. Look, I like this place. But I gotta say something about how I was treated. As a disclaimer, I understand COVID is hard on everyone, so I'm not accusing anyone of racism or discrimination, but one can probably infer how I felt. One of experiences here really disappointed me. My friend found this place by my house because we wanted to get some wine. Seeing that the store is closed to visitors, we were deciding what to do. We didn't know what to expect here, so we were thinking of going to another place. That was when someone opened the door to ask if we have a pick-up, my friend explained that we were looking for a Petit Shiraz that didn't break the bank. The person who helped us brought out two options and was knowledgeable about the products. We each bought the wine they recommended and left happy customers. When we opened the bottle, I found that was one of the most delicious wines I've tasted and judging from my experience this day, I wanted to go back and get the same wine. So I did. The very next day. Now, this day, I got a completely different level of service. Earlier in the day, I was reading about the philosophy of the store and how they're aware of the neighborhood and space they're taking and really emphasized community. Of course, as a new resident, I was excited to support this business. I drove by at around 6:38 pm, twenty minutes before they close. I suppose that was my first mistake. During the same time, I was on the phone with one of my dear friends who I haven't talked to in weeks. I got out of the car, still on the phone, thinking that once I got in front of the store, I'd have hung up so I could call the store. Unfortunately, I was on the phone too long. The door opens, the shopkeeper said something, but I was still on the phone saying goodbyes. I put up my index finger to signal that I'm still on the phone, which I understand can be rude, but I was on the phone and I don't know what I was supposed to do. I abruptly hung up and explained to the shopkeeper that I was here yesterday and I didn't know which Petit Shiraz I had. See, this is where I experienced a 180 from yesterday even though I was serviced by the same person. The person who helped me made me feel like I was a nuisance or a bother to them when I was asking for a specific product. They explained that they prefer customers to call in advanced to limit social distancing, which I completely understand, and will do if I decide to come back. The day before, I was met with excellent customer service. I was well informed about the product and was given a bag for the wine. This time, I was met with (what I felt was) aggression and wine bottle wasn't even bagged. I felt like I was shooed away from the store for whatever reason. Truthfully, I was very upset and disappointed. Honestly, it made me feel like I had to bring my white friend and boyfriend to receive the level of service the day before and I don't know how I feel about that. I felt welcomed the day before, seeing the "Black Lives Matter" signage out front signaled a level of social consciousness that I thought translated to a space I could be comfortable in even though I am not Black (Granted, a sign can just be a sign, but I tend to give others the benefit of the doubt). I find that I don't feel seen a a lot of spaces in this area, so it broke my heart when I experienced this type of treatment especially when I received a different one from the same person the day before. I don't know. Ultimately, whoever helped me didn't know what was going on and I don't know what's going on with them. I am writing this just to shed light on my own experience. I'm sure they're great people, but I am definitely unsure about this place now. I thought I could come back, but after reflecting on my experience, I feel like a sucker to support a place that didn't even want my presence there. To the shopkeeeper, I'm sorry that I didn't call ahead and gave you my one index finger while I was on the phone, but I don't believe that my mistakes warranted that drastic difference of level of service. I am a paying patron and I feel like I deserve the same level of service when I am not surrounded by my white friends. Boarded up retail strips in largely residential neighborhoods I've been driving past this particular corner strip of markets since the mid 1990s, and I've always been curious what was happening inside these boarded up stores. Well now there's Pyschic Wines. I walked in today and was instantly welcomed by one of the owners, Quinn. Quinn is truly passionate about natural wine, warm and knowledgeable in baggy chinos and black Vans, and not the least bit pretentious. These are wines made to enjoy, not to hide in a dark cellar. The space echoes this sentiment. It feels like it was renovated and built out by the people who would be working there, elegantly simple and a bit rustic but sparse and modern. I spotted bottles from some of my favorite producers, Frank Cornelissen especially, and many bottles I hadn't seen but wanted to try. And I wound up buying a few of them. As the Eastside wine scene continues to evolve, I find comfort in the fact that Psychic Wines is part of the landscape. If you take the 101 to Rampart Boulevard slash Benton Way, PW is surely on your way home, and open until 9 pm. They have my highest recommendation. read more

This place is the best. The owners are super awesome and the staff is incredibly helpful. I know nothing about wine but I've never felt stupid asking questions at Psychic. This place is great to broaden your knowledge of wines, especially natural, organic and biodynamic wines. A buddy of mine (wine hag ) introduced me to this place and I was blown away. I went there for the first time pre-pandemic and learned a lot. I picked up a few bottles and tried them at home. The wines were different but they were definitely "cleaner" and interesting. Go with an open mind and try not to compare to your past favorite wines. Needless to say, I have been buying more wines from them during the pandemic and learning and enjoying their wines more and more. The team members are terrific and they also print some great information on the wines, wineries and wine makers. Psychic and the vineyard owners are smaller businesses so it's an added bonus.! We got delivered a case of 6 bottles of wines from Psychic wines from a client for the holidays. We opened the first two bottles and they were vinegar. We called Psychic to let them know and they said "we make our wines with a different profile - we clearly dont know how to appreciate them." What bloody cheek! Love wine? Hate sulphites? Search no further. The only shop on the east side that can boast an entire store dedicated to TRUE natural wines. If you're not familiar with the term do a quick wiki search on it and you'll be impressed. It houses some of my favorites from around the world. The only wine missing from their shelves is the beloved Sicilian 'Cos' wines. I'm hoping they'll make their stock list soon... happy to try others in the meantime. Absolutely wonderful experience! We miraculously had the place to ourselves and experienced a true show of knowledge and listening skills by the people working there. Asked for a few suggestions of natty & pet-nat wines within a price range. We were showed various bottles with explanations of their qualities, origin, and not once was there an ounce of annoyance or pretense on the part of the employee. Walked out with three wonderful bottles + a birthday bottle for a family member, all within budget.
