I first called Pro Zone. They came out, charged me $69, and told me my compressor wasn't working and the evaporator coil was rotted out. They recommended a full system replacement for up to $30,000. Then I called Super Service. They arrived about an hour later, went up to the rooftop, and quickly diagnosed the issue -- it was just a bad starter. They replaced it, and the total cost was only $530. What a difference. Trust has to be earned. read more

As I write this, ProZone is rated 4.8 stars out of 167 reviews on Yelp. That's amazing! And gives much less credibility towards our family's experience, which spans 2 households. To start off, let me mention the good. My mom and I really enjoyed our initial interactions with ProZone. She had a contract with them and had a history of stable, reliable maintenance checks. Her very last check, near the tail end of 2024, is when things went awry. They claimed she had insanely high amounts of carbon detected in her household and that her HVAC system needed to be replaced. They even had photos of burns on her wall that were supposedly from her faulty system. Our understanding is that this would cost her somewhere between $15k-$30k to replace. Keep in mind that her house is less than 7 years old and there were no indications of problems during their checks before then. Before we had any reason to question them, I requested they provide a 2nd opinion check to my home's HVAC system. Our sons and I were having serious sinus issues, including asthma for my oldest and antibiotics for all 3 of us. I had great conversations with our ProZone tech, and they were even so kind as to offer us the maintenance check for free because I shared that I was out of job. The tech also drew pictures of the system and what he was describing so that I could understand better. I've NEVER worked with a contractor that's done either of those things! That said, sometimes the worst greed hides among those that outwardly act the kindest. Do I know for certain that that's what is happening here? No, but the evidence points towards it. During my check, ProZone said the sealant that was supposed to be loose--at least according to the last company who gave us a quote--was not, in fact, loose; at least no more loose than other houses by the same builder in our area. They said it's pretty typical. Then they tried to sell us on new filters and an ionizer to purify our air. They also claimed that cleaning air ducts is not necessary, which is what I paid the last company over $500 to do. I'm taking a look at our PDF quotes now, and some of what is written in them contradicts my memory. Here's ProZone's summary, word-for-word: ------ "There is not a direct leak where attic air is infiltrating system, however the ductwork seals are not great. Plenum box is sheet metal, allowing best possible seal given the circumstances. After assessing the whole system, I created a few options to douse correct the dirt issue with this system and home. Option 1; upgrade filtration from 1" to 5" to properly trap any unwanted dust/debris at the base of the system. This will allow for cleaner air, and a cleaner system as well. This will not directly stop any dirt from *infiltrating, the system... however it will prevent the unwanted dirt from getting into the system and air stream. Option 2; upgrade filtration from 1" to 5" to properly trap any unwanted dust/debris at the base of the system, we will also seal the ductwork connected to the base of the unit, this will prevent any sort of infiltration of unwanted dirt and dust. Option 3; upgrade filtration from 1" to 5" to properly trap any unwanted dust/debris at the base of the system, we will also seal the ductwork connected to the base of the unit, the final step would be an installation of an IWAVE air purification/ionizer device. This device will catch microscopic amounts of dirt, dust particles, and also alleviates allergy issues by removing potential viruses from the airstream. This would be the best solution to keep the system protected." ------ The options ranged from $1,045.00 to $2,813.79. We got a 3rd opinion, and my mom got a 2nd opinion. The additional companies that looked our HVAC systems had differing views, and photos to match. Her 2nd-opinion company couldn't find any evidence of burns on her walls, nor abnormal carbon levels in her house. Further, this 2nd-opinion, very long-standing company, as well as the people that use it in her neighborhood, are highly respected. The owner of this company even called her directly to discuss the issue, and said that he sees this kind of scam occurring a lot with the newer HVAC companies. According to my mom, it didn't feel like that owner had anything to gain other than making sure a fellow senior wasn't getting taken advantage of. The 3rd company that visited our household charged $59 for the estimate. They confirmed our sealant was off, and even recorded a video of him flicking it out of place. Additionally, they appear to have been around longer than ProZone. Finally, their solutions were similar but the quoted prices were much lower. I wouldn't say they were quite as charming as ProZone to talk to, but that isn't really important anyway. If ProZone was truly trying to take my mom and I for fools, I hope karma gets them. Please keep in mind that it's also possible that the 2nd and 3rd opinion companies were incorrect; though it does not appear that way. read more

I received a call from a nice gentleman by the name Brian, the owner, within a couple days after the visit/review and he was genuinely concerned about the service I received. After I had explained the chain of events that happened on the day of service, he informed me that the technician whom was sent out to my residence was no longer with the company. Brian also insisted in refunding the full cost of the service call to make it right in which I really appreciated. It definitely shows that Brian truly values the reputation of his company as well as the trust from his customers. Having said that, ProZone will continue to get my business when it is needed! read more

2 days in a row we requested a reply to get or a/c serviced... 2 days we waited and had no reply... since our time is not important to them or they just do not care - we are moving on to someone that may want the money to get the job done... no reply indicates 1 of 3 reasons... below was my comment to them when they failed 2 days in a row to reply... 1st) my guess is either you do not want my business (hint was no responses)... 2nd) you work alone and have nobody to respond to someone trying to hire you... 3rd) you do not need the business... either way - i am moving on to someone that wants the business... good luck dealing with people that do not respond... how they earned a 5 star i have no idea... no deserved... read more

Not only did he service the system, he was able to identify and replace a failing capacitor and sr-install the soft start motor for the AC we previously purchased. All under warranty. I laughed because that is more than the price I paid for a 3 ton heat pump Trane complete unit. After several attempts to haggle I realized this deal was not going to happen. Was contacted by Lee's Air and Plumbing. I had called Prozone. Never heard of Lee's. Anyway, Lee's/Prozone came out to do an estimate. They charged $69 for diagnosis. They found the problem (evaporative cooler was leaking), but told me it would cost an additional $972 to confirm the problem. Ridiculous! They dropped the price to $650 for the extended diagnosis. I paid the $69 and called someone else out to my house who did the diagnosis for free. The evaporative cooler was leaking. It didn't need $972 for further diagnosis. read more

Ashley (the person we were in contact with most) was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process literally saved us over $10,000 by helping us deal with insurance. My HVAC broke down suddenly one day and I was trying to get insurance to cover it. Review I'm leaving 3 stars because I don't know if the issues I've had are by coincidence or not. I called in for the discounted tune up for my AC unit. A few weeks later my unit stops working. The same company dispatched another tech that stated the tune up check should've included the issue he now found with my unit which I need to replace. Spent $15,000 on a New York two stage unit because I was flying out of the country and had to get the situation handled since I have a tenant. (I was told I could've saved $3,000 on this unit by some other HVAC techs but I'm not positive. I was in a rush) A few months later, they call to schedule free winter maintenance. Temperatures start to drop and I notice my heater has a hard time keeping the house up to the correct temperature for two weeks. It's another week before they are scheduled. I called a friend to just look and see and the furnace valve was turned off. Apparently the permit inspector could've possibly turned it off during inspection and forgot to turn it back on. I cancelled my winter maintenance to say the least. I'm not sure if it's just lack of procedures in place or if their quality of customer service is going down. They're highly rated by so many people so maybe this was just my experience. read more
