I called Provident Jewelry and spoke with Marianne, explaining that I had over 60 grams of vintage estate 18K gold jewelry including pendants, earrings, and rings with diamonds and gemstones along with additional 14K gold. I told her I wanted a professional evaluation of the pieces, both as potential estate/vintage items and for melt value. She told me to come in and ask for her specifically. When I arrived, she briefly looked at everything with her eyes, did not weigh or test any of the pieces, and immediately asked, "What are you looking to get?" I explained that I came to them as professionals and wanted their evaluation. Instead of assessing anything, she insisted I give her a number first. She then threw out "$300" as an example -- a number far below even the melt value of the 14K portion alone. I told her that comment felt disrespectful and unprofessional, especially since no evaluation had been done. She became defensive and said she wasn't sure they should work with me. She also admitted she wasn't the decision‑maker and would need to take it to the owner, despite being the person I was told to meet. At no point did she weigh, test, or properly assess any of the jewelry. The entire interaction felt dismissive, unprofessional, and like a complete waste of time. I left feeling disrespected and will not be returning. I don't think it is wrong to expect to take your jewelry somewhere and have them look at it as professionals and give you an estimate in their mind. Whatever that value might be. But to throw out a number like $300 when I have almost 80 g of gold in total without even testing it or looking at it or even accurately going through it is just absolutely shocking. I recommend not going here for anything as you are clearly going to be taking advantage of overcharged and they're hoping no one is wise enough to know the difference.-5 star review if it was possible. read more

Impeccable customer service, truly a first-class jewelry experience! My husband and I were touring Old Naples and 5th Ave. for the afternoon and decided to stop into Provident. She (Yani) showed me many sets of beautiful earrings and although it was hard to choose one, she helped me find the perfect one. My experience with Provident Jewlers was upsetting and unpleaseant. I found a men's cartier tank watch at an online jewelry and considered it. Provident had the exact watch and priced matched. I decided to purchase it the next day. I was happy I could make my purchase locally for convinience. Before I wrote my check I made sure the watch was returnable by specifically asking the salesperson TWICE. There was no question about it,she said absolutely and no problem it's returnable. When my husband decided to return the watch everything changed . The manager said the watch was only EXCHANGABLE as it reads on the bottom of the receipt that your wife signed. My husband called me and I spoke with both the manager and salesperson. The salesperson admitted to me that she did tell me it was returnable. I asked her to repeat that to her manager John so we could initiate the return, instead she told the manager she told me exchangeable. I would never make a purchase for a gift at that price that wasn't returnable. The manager was only inconsiderate and rude with no consideration or any thought resolving the situation or the discrepancy. So unprofessional to not find a way to diffuse the issue. I've lived in and conductuted business in Naples for over 26 years and this is the first time we have been so disappointed at such arrogance and disrespect from the manager. Ive deat with numerous jewlers in Naples over the years. The difference is their reputations and consideration to our community is paramount. In April, 2016, took my Movado watch to Provident Jewelry (heading WEST, the store on the right hand side of the street). The watch was losing time, so I figured it needed a new battery. A young, thin man took the watch in the back. He claimed he tried two batteries & couldn't get the watch to work. He suggested I could leave the watch & a $100 deposit & they would figure out what was wrong with it, but the actual cost of fixing it could be more. I wisely declined. I came back to NJ, took the watch to a jewelry shop on the BOARDWALK. They put a new battery in it & it works like a charm. I was in town for a couple of days with my fiancé and decided to look for a wedding band. I talked to a female salesperson that looked at me and asked what I was looking for. I told her that I was looking for a wedding band to go with my engagement ring. She looked at my ring and said she might have something in the back room. My fiancé came in shortly after and she asked if that was him. I said yes and she said let me see I might have something. Mind you that we didn't give her a price range but I can tell she was judging us by our appearance. We were dressed casual that day due to the fact we were driving on a motorcycle on our trip. The salesperson shouldn't judge a book by its cover if you know what I mean. She basically said they didn't have anything in the store that would go with it and that I should go back to the jewelry store we got the engagement ring from. She didn't help us at all. I was so upset and I couldn't believe her lack of enthusiasm. I have never dealt with anyone like that before in a jewelry store. We ended up at another jewelry store down the street and guess what, they showed me many different rings and options I had. They were so kind and so awesome to work with. I found not one, but two wedding bands, one for each side. They are beautiful and exactly what I was looking for.
