My grandmother lives at The Manor at Providence Place. There are worse places, but God willing they are also better. Her clothes get stolen all the time, and there's no reason for anybody to touch her clothes because we wash them ourselves. There is a rumor going around that the staff takes clothes and distributes them to other residents who don't have any or takes them home to their own family. As far as I know it could be a klepto resident. I don't know and I don't care who is taking them, what I care about is that either the hiring practices or the oversight and actual maintaining and watching the residence and the employees is so slack that this is allowed to happen. My grandmother also got locked in the bathroom thinking someone was coming back to give her a shower and they couldn't find the key to get her out. She finally opened the door herself. I'm sure if I had not been there, we never would have known anything about this. She is 104 years old. Obviously she shouldn't be locked in the bathroom by herself, and her clothes should not turn up missing. This does not happen just to her, we hear tales of people's hearing aids, clothing and personal items being stolen all the time. I could not with a clear conscience recommend that you put your loved ones in this facility. It may not be one of the worst but like I said earlier, I sure hope there's some better out there if not we're all screwed when we get old. read more
