The property is very inviting to walk around as they have a small pond, lots of artwork on the outside, and the inside most buildings are connectedand you can walk from building the building without having to go outside. This is a higher end residential community, so it is a bit expensive to live here but as I stated the quality of care is exceptional, whether you are living on your own or assisted living.

I work as a sitter for a client in Strickland Place. The CNA's when I'm working here are rude and…read moreunfriendly. On multiple occasions I have heard them talking about the residents loudly out in the halls. I have even heard them talking about the resident that I sit with. One of the CNAs said that the resident under my care, "is very rude and when I see her call light on when I'm working I purposely don't go in there because I don't want to deal with her" what if I wasn't in the room with her and there was an emergency? Another one of the CNAs took a very ugly tone with my client and said, "I don't know I'm not in her brain" when the resident asked when the nurse would be coming in with her pills. I found this very disrespectful and I personally would never speak to a resident or any person that way. Another thing is that they take up to 30 minutes to even come into the room and see what the call button was pushed for. The nurses, food service workers, and other employees are very nice and the facility is always clean. The only real problem i've seen is with the CNA's. f

This is a beautiful place in every way. I went there for an afternoon to volunteer alongside some…read morefriends and get to learn about what they do. The people in their care are severely disabled and completely reliant on the caregivers. Most of them are completely non-verbal. Some can say a few words. Those who work there so obviously adore their patients/clients, and love what they do. The grounds are gorgeous, and they have plans for renovating the facility. There is currently construction underway and they are excited about being able to offer even more to those in their care. The way that they treat the people in their care is so reflective of an acknowledgement of their human dignity. Everyone has heard horror stories about institutions that care for people who are unable to care for themselves. This place is on the opposite extreme, and it's such a noble cause. They are looking for volunteers and they have a wishlist of items on their website for those who want to help a charity that is having a tangible impact on people's lives.

The entireties of the staff - from the sales, to skilled nursing, to the dining room servers were welcoming, obliging, and happy (which is not always the case in senior facilities!) The residents we encountered were equally cheerful! My father decided on that 1st visit that "this was the place for him", and fortunately there was an apartment that would be available to him in a week's time. Unfortunately, as is often the case with elderly parents, we experienced a medical "emergency" with my Dad several days before his scheduled move-in. The amazing team at Abbotswood moved mountains to get him in-house, and under their expert Living Well @ Home skilled nursing care...an answer to our prayer as we could not give him the care he needed. The team at Abbotswood is enthusiastic, respectful, responsive and incredibly professional! The grounds are beautiful! The interiors are updated and bright! The restaurants serve wonderful food, and are accommodating for each resident's particular needs! I doubt you will find anything in the Triad that is even close to the gem that Abbotswood is!

My Grandfather became their family and developed the best relationship with his caretakers. I never worried about the care he received, because it was always at the level where I would have cared for him. I expected the best, and he received it. When he passed, his entire household mourned along with me. Pennybyrn has some of the lowest resident-to-caregiver ratios in retirement living, and this is designed to allow extra time to build relationships, give extra care, and support enjoyment of life and home. As an employee, I can share that this company will go to bat for its team and try to give the best of every penny and benefit possible. I knew from the very first time of meeting with Paige at the Solista High Point, this was the place I wanted my mom to be. Going from a private living environment to a Independent Living community is a scary experience for anyone, but the Solista Staff took her under their wings as they do every tenant and made her feel she was a part of the Solista family for years. Thats what they are at the Solista, one big happy family. The Solista unlike other Senior communities doesn't change their ways acting differently once you've moved in, they continue to grow as a community and the residents there are made to feel important and have a voice. Every time you walk in the front entry, you are greeted by the sweetest smile from Tandra at the front desk, Paige and David are always seen corresponding with the residents and helping out wherever necessary ensuring no one goes without. I was at Clapps for rehab after hip surgery, worse food ever,care was terrible I dropped a pill…read more on the floor the nurse picked it up and gave it to me to take but her lie was she just gave it to me to look at it. I asked to speak to someone no one came to talk to me.,they believed her when she said she gave it to me to look at, why would I want to look at the pill I told her, the staff didn't take to me 2 days after and they lied for her. The worse place to put your love ones in. The aids doesn't know what they are doing can't make a bed up. I left before I was ready and needed more therapy. I was happy to leave.

I can say that approximately 10% of the staff are professional and seem to actually care about patients needs.The remaining 90% of the staff are unprofessiona and treat you as a burden rather than a patient in need. I was in extreme pain during my time at this facility and found it to be a nightmare in order to get pain medication. If you are looking for care while you are going through your ordeal I strongly advice you look elsewhere.
