This place is really cool. They have such a clean and neat aesthetic. I happen to walk in here while I was walking down the streets of Saint Charles. I love finding little shops like this that have homemade items for you to try out. I will say it is a little pricey, but of course that's what you get when you get clean, handmade products. The employees were very friendly and helpful. I did smell this one scent that had oatmeal in it and it smelled so good but unfortunately it was all out. They are able to add you to an email list to let you know when things are back in stock, which is great. read more

I am a sucker for lovely scents and Provenance Soapworks did not disappoint. The fresh, floral aromas drew me in right away. I resisted buying everything and instead tried one of the bar soaps (I'm a body wash gal). I don't remember the name, but it has a clean, ocean scent and I love the creamy lather. It doesn't leave my skin sticky or slimy. LOVE IT! They also have a rewards program that I signed up for so I will be back! read more

What a delightful store with so many fancy soaps! Everything smelled great. Pricey but nice for gifting.

Provenance is the best! I have been hooked since the first time I got a bar of soap here, and love how they chance the soaps with the seasons, but still have the tried and true all year long. My favorites (apologies for not knowing the exact names) are coffee, honeysuckle, almond, peppermint, and and honey oat. They're basically like an ice cream shop for your skin. What's not to love?! read more

This is the perfect store to shop for a friend or for yourself. The shop itself is setup perfectly! They make all the soaps, scrubs and bath bins in house and have a sample section so you can try out their scrubs. They also have a gift building section where they provide the basket/box and ribbon and you fill the contents! What an amazing idea!! They have all of your bath essentials and their array of scents is incredible. There is a scent for everyone here. This is my new gift shop! read more

St. Charles you never disappointment with your shops and charm! This is my new go to place for artisan soaps, scrubs, candles and bath essentials. Quickly, I was swept back into a memory or a Paris soap shop j was in years ago. Beautiful packaging a wide variety of smells and types of soaps for your need. My favorite is the Shea and Jojoba but I also love the lavender goat milk and rosemary mint! The sugar scrubs are great and when finished leaves nice moisture behind. The service is great everyone so so polite and helpful. Their soaps are a perfect way to spoil yourself and make beautiful gifts at a reasonable price for holidays and thank you's. Definitely stop and give them a try! read more

Love love love this little shop! Good smelling soaps galore! This Sweet greeter girl Anna welcomed me as soon as I stepped foot in the shop. It's located perfectly on St.Charles Main Street. You looking for cute gift givers or holiday stuffers or for yourself this place to be. And there is even build your own soaps and bath salts. Must check out! read more

What a wonderful shop! The layout is easy to understand, their smelling jars are straight forward, the aesthetic is relaxing, and the whole staff is super friendly. I love their bath bombs so much here, and their soaps all smell amazing but I've never tried those because I get weird about bars of soap. They have a variety of other bath/soap products, but I love the size and fizz of the bath bombs the most out of everything and the price point is great. Onto the scents, they have a great range that's appealing to everyone on the spectrum, from earthy and botanical smells to fruity and sweet smells. Also, they have really clever names, including cocktail names, which make them even a better gift for someone! read more

Candles: Candlefish No. 88 | French 75 I need to keep these candles on continual rotation in my home because they are just that good!! Really amazing bright smell to them & pretty gender neutrally delicious. I bought these for a friend to include in her & her husband's housewarming gift box that I made them & she's just as in love with them as I am. Time to re-up next time I'm strolling down St. Charles' beautiful downtown strip!! Owner Carolyn was so kind & helpful as my boyfriend and I shopped & was a very gracious host as I shamelessly gawked around her beautiful store. Her & her husband had recently done some renovations & the store is absolutely stunning! You'll be inspired to bathe and smell better, even if you already think you smell pretty good. Such a clean air to their space that promotes self love & care! I'm in love!! read more

I love this place. Came here for a Yelp Elite event and loved the products so much that I came back. I bought soaps from them as gifts for my preceptors for my clinical rotations and some for myself. They are akin to the high end French milled soaps you can buy in France. read more

Wonderful smelling soaps, body scrubs and co. and the nicest people selling them!!! Perfect for gifting your loved ones!

I really love this store. I am kind of a soap addict so that's probably why. Everything about it is so clean, fresh, and well laid out. The only thing I would suggest is having a way for customers to try the sugar scrubs and maybe providing some type of samples because $15 is a lot of dough to spend on a really big jar of scrub that you may or may not end up plowing through. Or offer smaller sizes? But I realize they're a small biz so all of that costs money for packaging and whatnot. Carolyn was fun to talk to, and I am glad she was there because I could share my passion of soap with her and have a conversation about what it's like to be a small business on Main street--something I had been considering doing myself! (And still am, sort of, as soon as I make more money at my day job first!) ;) I ended up purchasing the chocolate cake soap. It was hard to smell through the plastic wrap but I am sure if I had asked, she would have opened one up for me to smell. Having them sitting around unwrapped for people to smell is a good idea but I realize that soap tends to lose it's scent after a while of being exposed to the air--especially homemade soap using fresh ingredients and minimal preservatives. This happened frequently when I worked at LUSH. I really enjoy using the soap and I love to just pick it up and smell it everytime I go in my bathroom. I look forward to purchasing more of her lovely products!! read more

I have fallen in love with this place. It smells wonderful. It looks amazing. The design reminds me of the French Countryside but with a well-masked modern sleekness to it. As soon as I found Provenance, I stopped buying soaps at the supermarket. Why would I? I can get handmade soaps that are made in-store and in St. Charles!! Awesome! Please support this awesome, small business! read more

Provenance Soapworks - Cosmetics & Beauty Supply Near Me - St Charles, Missouri

Great locally owned store on historic Main Street St. Charles. My wife and I came here for the soaps. She was looking for "truly" natural soaps and washes and Provenance Soapworks delivered and did not disappoint. We were greeted by the owner, who was friendly and super knowledgeable on her products she produced (which are on site) and the products that aren't. Candle's I believe? The body scrubs were really interesting, and the bath bombs were really intriguing. I wish I could have really explored the store more, but my wife was so passionate about looking through I held back and attended to my monkey of a toddler and 2 month old. There were so many great smelling products to choose from, my wife ended purchasing a sampler pack. I thought this was very helpful and convenient for those of us who don't know how to make up our minds...wife ;) You can pick up to 5 slivers of soaps and I believe you receive one more "the sample of the day". It really worked out, because a month later we came back and knew exactly what we wanted and left with the whipped goats milk, and oat and honey bars. I remember asking the owner if they will at some point have liquid soaps. She said they were working on something but that it was difficult to determine those ingredients such as the friendly ingredients we love in the bars. I hope that comes to fruition someday...that would be awesome. I'm a lazy man I guess.... Support this store! Plus there's a lot of good eats and drinks nearby. read more

Prepare your olfactories for an assault! So much so, I got a sneeze attack. They can't help it. It's a stinky store. You get used to it. But the wares are astounding. Things I've never seen before. Lip balms, bath bombs, body butter, creams, soap sticks and soap slabs, pumice-type lotions for the hands and feet (probably too gritty for a facial). Many other skin helpers. All in different fragrances. And they've got a testing station for the pumice lotion, so you can see how it works on your hands!! We must remember the skin is our largest organ, so we have to take care of it! read more

What a cute shop! I stopped in during Festival of the Little Hills and was happy it was open as I'd had it bookmarked. It is a cute little shop with a front room and a back room. They have lots of soaps in different scents. I like that the scents are clear.. I know some places think up cutesy names for things that make me wonder what it actually is made with. I prefer it clearly marked! I bought a bar that is ocean breeze, and it smells like that. Very yummy. I like that they use natural ingredients, and it's also cool that there is a sign that tells you what they are making at that moment. They have some other products, like bath bombs and lip stuff as well. I would've liked a little more assistance on where things are and background on the products. It was a crazy day though. I didn't realize that they had a back room til I saw someone heading that direction. This is a great shop to have on Main Street and I'll definitely be back! read more

The owner is delightful and the shop is well-turned out - between those two things, youll drop a dime easily. She spent at least an hour with us and $60 later I'm custom-blended!!! We bought soaps to scrub and oils to moisturize. Lush stores ain't got nothing on this place. PS - the shop is well turned out- too cute, the trim work, the paint, the hardware - it's what pottery barn and crate and barrel try to inspire. read more

If you are in the market for all natural body soaps that contain 100% real ingredients and oils and nothing you can't pronounce, then look no further. This shop is locally owned, they make all their soaps on site, and are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I'm constantly on the lookout for skin care products that are natural and chemical free for me and my family. I am tired of products such as soaps, lotions, scrubs, labeled as natural and organic but when you really look at the ingredients you find SLS and a bunch of other toxins. My husband and I just so happen to stumble upon Provenance Soapworks while down on Main St, St. Charles. The first thing you see when you walk in is a sign saying (in a nutshell) the soaps they carry contain nothing you can't pronounce. Instantly I knew I had found what I was looking for. Provenance offers a washing station where you can test their products out, and you can even buy samples before committing to a whole bar. I bought 5 samples to test out. I'm so happy I did because I wanted to see if the goat's milk soap was too strong on my kid's skin. Which it was not! The soap left my 8 year old, 2 year old even my 1 month old's skin feeling silky smooth, smelling fresh and most importantly chemical free! Success! I will never EVER buy soap anywhere else! I highly recommend this shop and remember it's great to support locally owned businesses! read more

Cute little shop. Stopped in today after seeing several good reviews on Yelp. My skin has been hyper sensitive of late so hoping to find some relief in the form of cleaner soaps. Everything smelled great. I got a scrub and a bar to try. I really liked that they even added a "sample" of the day of another soap to my bag. Added bonus. Owner was super sweet and personable. May have found a new addiction. read more

This shop is great! They are very friendly and let you sample their products. I love the sugar scrubs and body butters...scents are not over powering and even though I buy them for my fiancé, they work well on my rough hands. We just picked up some soap and going to try it out for the first time...hope it is as awesome as everything else in the shop. read more

I love this soap shop!! All of the scents are wonderful, and the service is so personable, not to mention that homemade bars of soap can get pretty expensive, but this soap lasts a long time and is a perfectly wonderful price. I've used the bath bombs too, and they always leave my skin feeling smooth and smelling wonderful all through the next day. I will always travel to St. Charles to support this wonderful business!! read more

Is your regular body soap not everything you want it to be? Is it not leaving you smelling good all day? Does it give you a slimy feeling afterwards? If you have answered yes to any of these I have a solution for you! Your solution is Provenance Soapworks, located on Main Street St. Charles. There is a variety of soaps, bath bombs, body butters, body scrubs, and lip balms, and there is an even greater variety of awesome fragrances. Provenance Soapworks even has a section for men. This past Christmas I bought the men's Black Tie soap for my dad, brother, and boyfriend. They all loved it. My dad has even been back for more so he doesn't run out! My brother loves it because even after a hard wrestling practice he still smells great! Also, the owners of Provenance Soapworks are always very nice and helpful. This is a quality shop, feels luxe when you walk in. And the products are soooo good. They feel good and smell good. Lipgloss isn't too sticky, lotion isn't greasy, etc. Just lovely products that will be standout gifts. I will say I was having a dry/itchy leg situation with the weather changing...I got their Lavender & Shea Whipped Body Butter just because I loooooove lavender. I put modest amounts on my legs at bedtime just because it's a nice/relaxing scent at bedtime (not intentionally for the itching)...and it honestly cured my dry itchy skin after a couple nights of continuous use. What a nice surprise. I would support and endorse whatever they make, it's all good and you should try it. read more

A lot of good variety soaps, for both men and women. As a dude, I still recommend this place, as all the soaps smell quite good and work well. I like the Aspen - hopefully that's still in stock. The staff (owner, I think) was incredibly friendly, and happily let us shop even after the closing time, when most other shops on Main st. were closing. read more

This is one of the best stores in old Town. Her shoppe is always sweet smelling and the staff are friendly to everyone. I've been going there for seven years. My daughter is obsessed with their bath bombs and won't take a bath without them. While shopping on Main St. before heading back home to Chicago, my daughter and I fell into this adorable store. We walked away with some great bath fizzes and soaps. The service was fabulous and we especially appreciated how gracious and kind the Owner was when popped in at closing time on a Sunday! read more

Amazing bath bombs!!! The people are so nice also! Thanks for such an amazing store in our area!

i always have to stop at this store if I'm on main street but I recently had some soap delivered to my home. The packaging was very artsy and cute, it would make a great gift. My favorite soap is the jasmine and shea butter but this time I also tried the body butter. I was a little disappointed in the size but soon realize a very little goes a long way and so softening to the skin and the smell is beautiful and mild just like all their soaps. They also enclosed multiple sample soaps which made the cost of shipping worthwhile and I love being able to sample a wide variety of soaps. read more

As a self-confessed soap snob, I easily endorse this soap as some of THE best I have found in the US and other countries. The formula is creamy and washes clean. Your skin will thank you after each use. While I try other soaps, I always come back to Provenance. Thanks for offering such luxurious soaps and products at affordable prices. My favorite soap scents are peach and strawberry. I would love to see these offered year-round. Kudos for providing wonderful bath items in a most charming setting! Charming shop with handmade soaps that are absolutely wonderful. The owners are a delightful young couple that were very welcoming to everyone that walked in their shop. I purchased three bars of soap and have been extremely pleased with the quality and aroma. The soap makes a creamy lather than has really helped with dry skin that comes with the colder temperatures. Many scents to choose from with discounts if you buy three. The shop smells good when you walk in; however, if you have sensitive sinuses, it might take you a minute to adjust. I loved it! I'm telling all my friends and wholeheartedly recommend you stop in if you in Historic St. Charles. The soaps will make a perfect stocking stuffer for the holidays. read more
