I have moved at least a dozen times in my life and this has by far been the worst experience and biggest nightmare of my life. Hired Proud American for a long distance move (Boston to San Diego)and they brokered out my move to unreliable movers that are impossible to work with. On Trak Movers picked up in an unmarked truck, and charged me an extra $400 to move my couch down 4 flights of stairs. This was after I refused to pay $800 (first lie). This company held my stuff for a week and then handed it off to another company MMG Moving without my knowledge or consent. I was told they would give me 48 hours notice prior to delivery. MMG called less than 24 hours prior and told me when they were coming, refusing to work with me on a date/time. I told Proud American and On Trak movers (multiple times) that my building requires a reservation in advance to reserve the loading dock (as do all buildings in San Diego or any city in this country-standard!) Jeremy from MMG refused to agree on a time the loading dock was available and said if you can't do 9am today too bad then we are forced to move your stuff into storage and can't give you a delivery date. I called the MMG office and spoke with a woman that confirmed delivery on June 15th at 3pm. The following day they called and refused delivery and apparently moved my stuff into storage. It's now 21 days later I do not have my stuff or a delivery date. No one will return my calls or confirm a delivery date. This company MMG is impossible to work with and Proud American has accepted no responsibility. Jeremy at MMG is absolutely impossible to work with and has no interest in helping get my things delivered. Tori Brooks at Proud American is the person I originally spoke to and she has done nothing but lie every step of the way, nor will she send me a copy of the contract that I have asked for 3 times. Ava the dispatch manager my case was escalated to told me she would take care of it and she is no longer answering my calls. No response in the past 24 hours. I have spoken to all 3 companies and no one is willing to help me or taking responsibility to get my things delivered. Absolute nightmare. I have asked for a copy of my contract 3 times and they refuse to send it to me. Close to $10k later I am forced to hire a lawyer to get my stuff. I have also filed complaints with BBB and FMCSA. RUN as far away from this company as you can. You have been warned. read more

We used these guys for our move last October. They were great! Quick and efficient. We made sure that 99% of the stuff was boxed and stacked neatly so they could just get it loaded and wouldn't have to break any furniture down. But I am sure they wouldn't have had a problem doing that. They had positive attitudes and offered great customer service. They treated and handled our things with care..not a scratch! Also, their price cannot be beat! We won't likely be moving again anytime soon, but I have referred them many times! Keep up the great work guys! read more

Brian, Ryan and Chester did a great job moving us into storage last week. Given the fact they have a very competitive rate and charge by the hour, I was amazed by how fast and hard they worked! It ended up costing us only 60% of their estimate because they were so fast and efficient. I chose Proud American for my interstate move. My nightmare began when they "brokered" my move to another company, MMG Moving. MMG raised the price THREE times. Not only was MMG's customer service poor to non-existent, they were VERY long in delivering, lost boxes, left trash strewn outside my new home, and unlabelled boxes piled wherever there was space. Worst, they packed a group of things I specifically told the foreman NOT to pack; it would go in my suitcase to be carried with me. IT WAS PACKED while I was elsewhere. It included a container with a ziplock bag of gift cards, 3 men's watches, and several small bags of my fine jewelry. The container got to my new home, with gift cards, men's watches...and no jewelry. Proud American put me in the hands of incompetent...and dishonest...movers!! read more

I initially gave PAM a 5 star rating in 2016 when they unloaded a U-haul for us, but our last experience was far from 5 star material. We had all of our stuff packed, stacked and ready to go. All we needed was for them to load our U-Haul. The truck we rented was nearly 2x the size that we needed so there was plenty of room. No need to stack to the ceiling. Aside from stacking boxes to the ceiling and leaving a sloping mess at the rear of the truck such that the rest of the cubic feet was unusable, we discovered upon unloading they had placed boxes marked FRAGILE upside down, place my turntable packed in its original box (so it was clearly identifiable) on its side, among other clueless things. Nearly all the boxes were U-Haul boxes designed to stack on top of each other safely. Most of the boxes were stacked askew. Heavy boxes were stacked on top of my sewing machine that was in its zip-up roller case (kind of looks like a soft sided suit case). When I called Francine she was courteous and said she was taking notes. She said she would call back on Monday. On Friday of that week I called her to see what was up. She apologized about the delay and the poor experience we had and offered a partial refund that would be in the mail that day. A couple of weeks later after my husband reassembled our turntable I still hadn't received the refund so I called. Francine apologized again and I did get a check within a couple of days. I hate changing a review especially after being so happy with them the first time. Maybe they are good at unpacking but not so much at packing. IDK. We were just horrified after the second experience. Below was my original 5 star review: (sigh) Kevin, Travis, and Harley are fantastic! They were on time, very conscientious of our belongings, and communicated well with each other and us while unpacking our rental truck. Proud American outsources their entire operation and takes zero accountability for your items moved. The actual movers they sourced with damaged my furniture and acknowledged their obligation to reimburse, but have deliberately neglected any process to complete this (even after 15 calls over 3 months) and Proud American has only served as a barrier between the customer and actual moving company to be held accountable. There is no process in-place to ensure your claim is completed and no process to escalate issues. read more

Do not use this company. Proud American is a broker. They are very good at signing you up and taking your money. But if there is a problem or if your property is damaged, they disappear. The moving company they retained damaged several items of my personal property. The moving company allowed me to take a picture of the bill of lading, but did not provide me with a copy at the time of the move. After the move, I contacted the moving company and they said they sent all the paperwork to Proud American. I contacted Proud American to get my bill of lading so I could file a claim. I've asked them dozens of times for the bill of lading. They have it, but they won't respond. They simply ignore every email and phone call. It is now two months after the move and I still don't have the bill of lading or even the courtesy of response. RUN away from this company as fast as you can! You have been warned. read more

Nothing to criticize, really. Everything went as expected and even a little ahead of schedule despite a detour that I threw into the mix. They showed up slightly early, ready to work. Did a quick walk through to size everything up and started hammering away at it immediately. Expect 3 normal, healthy, clean dudes with tons of blankets and straps and tie downs, etc. They're not sprinting like at les Schwab but they keep moving at a reasonable, sustainable pace the entire time until it's over, so things get done before you know it. I'd recommend having everything packed and ready to go for them for smooth sailing. You're paying for muscle and hustle so set them up to start moving stuff from the get-go. I'm not moving again anytime soon, but would recommend them to anyone who is. read more

They all were friendly and had amazing attitudes the whole time (How? I don't know. Nothing makes me more angry than moving). Harley and his team were punctual, careful, and kind, and they worked incredibly hard to help us move across town. They take pride in their work, and it shows powerfully. When I mentioned that one of our dressers cost me $10 at Goodwill, they said, "We'll treat it like the Mona Lisa!" Even though we had just asked them to move our furniture, as we were bringing our boxes over ourselves, they helped to unload our U-Haul truck. What a disappointment. I spoke with someone from Proud American Movers on the phone and they asked me to video the house and explain what was moving etc. I did that and the video was received, but there was never any response with a quote, other than "ok" when I said that I needed the quote by Monday. So I know my correspondence went through. Waste of my time and Proud American Movers lost money because I have hired another mover. Would never recommend this company. read more

This has been my favorite moving company to work with. A couple of moves ago I started using movers to load and unload the moving trucks. I have had bad movers and ok movers. Proud American Movers has by far been my favorite. Great price, on time, knows how to manage the space in the truck, careful with our belongings, and they don't waste anytime standing around either! The movers at the first destination (loading) were great, but the movers at the second stop (unloading) were over an hour late so I simply ended up canceling them. Proud American saved our bacon. We had contracted with Cascadia Moving, and after showing up very late, they begged off to go home before completing the work. They asked to be paid in full for the work to that point and said would be back promptly the next day to complete the move. We saw the fatigue so granted them their request. But the next day, they not only did a NO SHOW, but also did not call us and refused to respond to texts or voicemails. Cascadia Moving sucks!! We lost much of a day when we only had a short time to get our move done. Luckily, someone referred us to Proud American, and Francine answered our call on President's Day and had a competent, polite team in our driveway in no time at all. They were fast, careful, great to have around, and reasonably priced. read more
