The Juice IPA is amazing. We were in town for the blackberry walkabout and the Blackberry festival, and the Hopped Up Blackberry Juice IPA was mind blowing! I also loved the Sweet Belgian Blonde. read more

This place is epic! Super clean and the beer is awesome. 100% certified organic- are you kidding me! Gimme more! Amanda was super helpful and sweet! Can't wait to come back! read more

A friend and I were looking for a new spot for libations and this brewery popped up in his search results. I was a bit skeptical about the whole organic beer thing, but still willing to give the place a legit chance. I'm glad we did. The owner and his wife were super cool just hamming it up with us and kinda explaining their process and what not. To be honest, I wasn't expecting their beers to be great, but they blew those expectations out of the water. Pretty much everything we had tried was really good, and this is coming from someone that is not a fan of IPAs. And coming back to the whole organic thing, you really taste a difference. It tastes cleaner, for lack of better words. We're definitely coming back here! read more

This was a great atmosphere to spend time with friends and drink great Organic beer! The beer was incredible tasting (especially given that it is 100% organic!) and was reasonably priced. The staff members were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer and the brewery. I like how this establishment is purpose driven and connects protection of our freedom by the SEAL vets who own it with the protection of our planet and bodies via organic beer. I can't get over how relaxed and fun the brewery was, I will definitely be back!! read more

The beer taste great. They have a nice patio to drink on during COVID. They have teamed up with Mr G's for food options. I'd go back for the pizza as well. read more

Great new brewery. Super swank tap room and solid beer. The hef was my favorite, stout least. The hoppy pale was excellent and the IPA is true to the west coast. Best of luck! Cheers read more

Protector is by far one of the best breweries I have been to. Their hazy IPA is amazing and the entire place is comfortable and enjoyable to sit and enjoy a beer. The COVID hasn't effected this place much, simply get some food at a nearby place and enjoy it with their delicious beer. Awesome place and awesome people. read more

Beer was excellent. Had a IPA. But $8 a pint is crazy. That will keep me from coming back.

Terrific small brewery. Excellent IPAs, absolutely recommended. Definitely come by and try it! And Alannah is a wonderful server!

Really friendly, good beer, adult brewery atmosphere. Would come back. Check out The Juice IPA. A bit softer than most IPA's, but very drinkable. read more

Oh yes, good price and vibe. The staff is nice and attentive. Location has plenty of parking and a shush I and a Mexican spot next door

I went to this brewery for the first time. The beer was amazing, staff was fantastic, and the atmosphere was great. I'll be back for sure!

Went here on a Friday night and when we arrived there were only two other people inside, plus the bartender. We went to the counter and stood in front of the bar waiting to be acknowledged. Unfortunately, she was to busy typing away on her phone to notice us and after a couple minutes and her not looking up from her phone once we ended up leaving. Have heard a lot of great things about this brewery and was looking forward to trying some beer. Might have to come back another time and hope there's a different bartender working. read more

Had a great few beers and meet the owner one afternoon. Super nice staff and some damn good beers. And only organic brews in San Diego

We go to a lot of breweries, and this was one of the best we've ever sampled, especially so soon after opening (they've only been open three weeks). We got a flight and there wasn't a weak beer in the mix. The owners are friendly and clearly proud of their endeavor; the place is absolutely spotless and nicely decorated. Do not miss this place! read more

Delicious beer. First time at a certified organic brewery and I am impressed. Only five beers on tap when I visited but all were good. I opted for a flight and tried the Belgian Blonde, C2 Smash Pale Ale, Berserker Fruit Ale and Gladiator Stout. My partner and I liked all four. read more

We stumbled upon this brewery after visiting Thunderhawk and fell in love. Great beer, great people, and we love what they stand for. We will absolutely be back read more

Simple and chill, organic beer is unique and its cool to support Navy Seal Heroes. Im not a big hoppy beer guy so I cannot provide an opinion on the IPAs read more

Stopped in to avoid traffic ended up staying for 4 hours. Beertender Ashely was great and offered some yummy suggestions. I'll be back!

Great place! Delicious beer, organic! Will be back. Recommend highly. Staff very friendly. Only organic brewery in San Diego.

I have to be honest and say up front that I don't really care about the fact that the beer is organic. I like the idea and I think it is a great way to stand out in a crowded brewery universe here in San Diego. But I really only care about two things: 1) whether the beer is good or not and 2) what the atmosphere of the brewery is. On both of these counts, Protector is a place that I will be returning to. This was the soft opening, so the full line of beers is not in place yet, but the first four beers being poured suggest that this will be a very good place to come back to. Most breweries have hefe's that are either light and crisp so as to draw in the Coors Light drinkers or cloyingly banana-like in their overkill on the yeast flavor. The hefe here at Protector is a finely balanced session beer that manages to be light and refreshing, but still retains the strong traditional Bavarian hefe notes. At 3.5% ABV, you could put away a bunch of these on a nice San Diego afternoon. The Pale Ale is more along the lines of a session IPA than an old school Pale Ale, which suits me just fine. This was the most drinkable of the beers from my perspective and it was a great example of the modern West Coast style Pale Ales that are blurring the lines between IPA and PA. They had two IPA's on draft, a "Traditional IPA" and a "West Coast IPA". The Traditional is exactly that: a 90's style IPA with modern amounts of hops. You can clearly taste the malt character (there is clearly some crystal in there with the 2-row) as well as the notable hop character. The hops are the foremost flavors of the beer, but it is nice to have a beer that does not abandon the malt character entirely. The West Coast was more clearly the hop-head's beer and was a very drinkable version of the modern IPA. The malt character was more muted and the hops crowd out most of the rest, but that is fine since the hop character is crisp and clear. The taproom is very nice. They did an exemplary job of making use of the space and this is a very welcoming place. It is not just another bare industrial space. The tables and bar offer a comfortable space to sit and enjoy a beer. The staff was also great. The owners were behind the bar for a good portion of the time I was there and all four of the folks who rotated in and out knew the beers and the story of the brewery. And apparently no one should ever challenge Ryan to a game of beer pong. Ever. This was a great group and it continues my general experience that the brewery community is one of the best collections of people on the planet. I was skeptical about Protector given its heavy emphasis on the "organic" branding, but the first flight of tasters sold me on the fact that this is a good brewery that happens to be organic. Of course it is difficult to know how much the soft opening will translate into the future. I guess I will just have to keep coming to continue the research. On a quick final note, the location of Protector is amazing. You have four traditional breweries, a sake brewery, a winery, and a sushi restaurant. Soon a meadery/cidery is joining the mix. If you have a group and you want to make a solid day of trying out various kinds of adult beverages, this is one of the best spots in the area. And that says a lot. read more

New favorite brewery in SD. Love the Blueberry IPA and Ashley was an amazing bonus to our afternoon. Our group of 4 could not have asked for a better experience, thank you! read more

Amazing brewery with a very neat and clean set up. Beer is fantastic and staff is super friendly! Keep up the good work Protector!

My favorite beer in town! Great for a beer after work. Perfect environment for a small event, under 50 people! Awesome owners.

Best beer in SD? I experienced rich and fresh tasting beer in a clean/comfortable setting brewed by Navy Seals! I love IPA's, and the JUICE and IIPA are glorious, but I would say the Belgium, Stout and Porter are elite as well. I'm convinced these small batches at local SD breweries are spoiling the town, yet Protector steps right in to take a share... but go quick, it doesn't take long for items on the chalkboard to be crossed out. Also, a nice touch offering corn hole, Jenga and a few large screens to catch the game (or a weird retro movie), nice job Protector. read more

Awesome concept being organic. Beers were super tasty and Ryan was friendly, knowledgeable, and very personable. This is their soft opening and I wish them the best! read more

Good beer and a good location next to a couple others. Like to see them find a way to get more light in there. Staff seems friendly. Some advice to give...don't charge for stickers. When you have an opportunity to get free advertising take it. Maybe do something like require a "check-in" on Facebook or another extremely cheap promotion just to get it going. They probably cost .10 to produce don't miss an opportunity to get the name out there. Also, you have a cool logo...why not take advantage an put it on your shirts? read more

Brand new brewery. Nice atmosphere, good beer, friendly owners. We will definitely be back. Cool place.

I really enjoyed this place! They advertise having Organic beer which is kind of an interesting idea I'd never thought about. I only had the Hazy Double IPA and the West Coast IPA but they were great. Of the two, my favorite was the Hazy Double. It had a really full flavor. The West Coast was also good and reminded me a bit of a session IPA. Very easy to drink! read more
