He was available and responsive, and his staff were helpful as well. My teen did well for about 2 years following treatment before suffering another episode. I will always be grateful to Seattle NTC for their help in providing hope, help, and healing.

A friend mentioned she was seeing a great therapist through MTG, so I decided to give it another chance. Evan was very friendly and professional with helping me schedule an appointment with a therapist and Nurse Practitioner. I even got both appointments scheduled within a week.. whereas the other healthcare provider I normally go through told me there was a 3 month wait. Taylor Fancher, the Nurse Practitioner is amazing! He really took the time to get to know my history and symptoms. He's easy to talk to, and very helpful. Catherine (Cathy) Shea is the best therapist I've ever had. She really frames her questions to get you thinking about the problem, and offers her own valuable insight. I'm really excited about our ongoing weekly appointments, and it's so convenient having the appointments through Zoom.

Ethical concerns with billing errors and zero-notification fees…read more I am highly frustrated by the billing practices and lack of communication at Mindful Therapy Group. First, I was explicitly quoted a $0 co-pay. Based on that information, I attended weekly appointments for nearly two months. Suddenly, co-pays started being deducted from my account on file. When I called to investigate, I was told there was a co-pay after all, and I was being back-billed for multiple past appointments. While I understand that the co-pay amount itself may be determined by insurance, there is a serious ethical issue with charging and back-charging a client's card without any prior notification or statement. Because I was quoted zero, I had no reason to go looking for hidden statements in an online portal. Second, while I was away on vacation, I was scheduled for a time that I was not used to and unfortunately forgot the appointment. I received absolutely no notification, phone call, text, or email reminder on the day of the session. Despite the total lack of communication, they promptly charged my card a $180 no-show fee. The lack of transparency, hidden charges, and failure to send simple appointment reminders make this a highly stressful administrative experience. Therapist was fine

An email is enough. They text randomly on a Sunday morning ask for a Google review. It's really annoying. I don't need to be constantly reminded I'm in therapy. Seriously notification fatigue. That's probably something that needs to be addressed in therapy. So they are just creating more business. You'll probably find a good or ok therapist here. But the automation is super annoying.

She seemed to incorrectly conclude that being prone to crying was the same thing as having empathy and that crying together with her clients was progress. She really struck me as one of those therapists that goes into the profession to solve their own problems. During our sessions she was very focused on herself and how me talking about my trauma made her feel bad, which was a strange situation I had never been in before. She routinely forgot things I shared previously, interrupted me and generally didn't listen or care. In close to my last session, I was feeling as if we were simply two people having a chat (where one of us was paying), I asked her which therapeutic processes and evidence based methods she was using to help me, and she could not answer and became defensive and started to cry. She then asked me what it was like to see her so emotional. I was completely frozen and confused and said "fine, I guess" and she had a bad reaction to that. Upon leaving my last session I felt so ashamed that I had upset someone whose proclaimed goal was to help people, but in retrospect I realize that Bethanne has some issues she really should work through before she can provide this service to others. I think if you just want a person to talk to (and none of your friends are available) then Bethanne might be fine, but if you have actual trauma or anything else personal you want to be able to process, do not go here.

My experience is with the coordinator, Marla, and unfortunately not with Dr. Orenstein…read more I called to inquire about making an appointment for myself, a new patient, and was met with complete unprofessionalism from Marla. She stated that they "were not going in that direction" of taking on new patients... odd way of saying "no" but that's fine. I then asked if they have any referrals to offer she laughed and said they didn't do that... then went on to explain that I would have to meet with the doctor to get a referral. It's not odd for a doctor to refer other professionals in their field; I've received referrals from other doctors before. Such a terrible experience for anyone suffering from anxiety or any other mental illness. Marla should consider another profession if she can't show consideration for the type of clientele that would call a psychiatrist's office.

Dr. Orenstein has been my doctor for the better part of a year and has been extremely helpful with…read moremy anxiety issues as well as my ADHD. After my first meeting I was still undecided and continued looking for doctors but made another appointment anyways and during that second meeting the basis of an extremely dynamic and trusting relationship formed. Dr. Orenstein primarily practices psychopharmacotherapy which means that he treats psychological disorders with medication in conjunction with talk therapy; however, he has admitted that this approach does not work for everyone/every condition and also offers alternative suggestions. The extent of his knowledge about psychopharmacology is extreme and he ensures that his patients are well aware of possible side effects and follows the guidelines of informed consent. One such example of an alternative therapy was suggesting exposure therapy for my driving anxiety. He suggested I try going on long driving sessions and document any changes in my mental state as time progressed. Within 2 months of following this advice (I was limited to driving on the weekends) I was able to overcome the majority of my driving anxiety and actually procure a driver's license. Additionally Dr. Orenstein follows the American Psychiatric Association's (APA) Guidelines for Ethics and Practice, erring on the side of caution. The office does this--in part--through their office policy that does not allow patients to be seen that are/have been romantically involved with a current patient or family members of current patients unless they are seeking therapy jointly (in the same session). Marla handles his scheduling and the administrative duties of the practice and does a wonderful job of accommodating busy schedules. If you have a restrictive schedule they will do their best to work around your availability and will even go as far as asking more flexible patients if they would consider moving their appointment (I have offered to change my appointment on several occasions). Overall, Dr. Orenstein is an extremely competent and effective psychiatrist who is very patient oriented.
