Probably our favorite spot where we sat and enjoyed Portland's food cart offerings as well as just the local vibe an atmosphere. Prost serves up some tasty German beer and the staff were extremely kind and attentive. Since we were ordering beverages, they allowed us to bring our food from the food carts into our seating area. My boyfriend loves German beer, so we went here for him so he could have a proper Pilsner! We had a pint, or two, and I also got a cheese and meat board to nibble on. I got something similar to a Porter but honestly I liked the Pilsner beer better. Friendly service, and they have a place to sit outside, free Wi-Fi, and a bathroom. I have a feeling we'll be back. Prost is open for indoor and outdoor dining and they maintain strict health protocols. They maintain a 25% capacity inside and you would have to line up outside based on capacity constraints. We went there on a Saturday night and waited in line for less than 10 minutes. I ordered their classic Munich lager and a side of pretzels. The lager was excellent and the pretzel with the side of mustard was awesome. I would definitely visit again soon. Silicon Valley (of California) attracts people from all parts of the globe, including Germany, so there is a good amount of German establishments where I live. I've been to enough of these German establishments to know that what we experienced here was pretty mediocre. Firstly, our beers hadn't been completely filled. You would think that at a German pub, the glasses would be nearly overflowing! They are in Silicon Valley, so step up your game, Portland! Other than that, the beer was good. Okay, I didn't expect a German board to be as bougie as a Spanish or Italian board, but dang, it sure does look like they just set out grocery store-bought meats and cheeses. Have been craving good German lagers ever since going to the real Oktoberfest in Munich. After doing a fair bit of research, I came across Prost and decided I had to stop in. I'm so glad I did. They have a great selection of German beers on tap, includes a helles lager that is SO good. Prices were reasonable. I liked how they had doors open for fresh air and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. I'll have to come back again when they have new beers on tap. read more

A very lively and loud pub with German beers and food. It's a pretty cool place, and I believe it one of the only places (if not the only) place in Portland you can order a boot of beer. I went with some friends specifically for the boot and it ended up being a blast. The place is pretty dimly lit with a rustic, dark wood and dark metal vibe. It definitely suits the mood, and they have a downright beautiful outdoor area that I wish we could have taken advantage of, but the rainy weather interfered. They have a decent list of beers ranging from pale to dark, and you can order each as .3L, .5L and most as 1L. In regards to the boot, we were told it needs to be at least three people per boot so keep that in mind if you're interested. We also ordered a large meat and cheese platter which featured some dark bread, two German meats, two cheeses, two mustards, radishes, pickles, and some type of cheese spread. It was a great complement to the beers. Overall the place was a lot of fun, but it was very loud which made it hard to talk with friends. I'd suggest this place for drinking but not really for catching up or chatting. Also, kids are allowed in until 8pm, so if that's not for you, be sure to come after that time. read more

Mississpippi is such a great street to grab drinks on but it's super obvious that Prost is a popular favorite! Whether you start of end your night here you will have a nice time. Good seats inside but they also have large picnic tables in the back with space heaters so as the drinks warm you up you can also feel toasty. Really enjoyed the kolsch and stuck with only drinks this time but they also serve food like brats and pretzels for you to munch on. If you're able to grab a seat at the bar they also have a couple of TVs playing live sports. I used to live in Germany as a kid and I've always loved checking out the American versions of German bars and/or restaurants across these great United States. This place reminds me of my golden years (from ages 2-13) more than any other restaurant I've been to this week, maybe even longer. I even wore a dirndl there after my friends recommended this place, but apparently the traditional German beir and wurst were where it stopped, no old-school traditional garb was worn by any of der kellners or die kellnerin. BUT no one was phased by my overzealous theming either. Yay! The food was simple, but delicious. Just about all the classics and faves you'd find at any good German Bierhaus. The service was good, the beer selection as well. Really, it is a pleasant place, where you'll get exactly what you expect, so if you are looking for some Oktoberfest fun after September, you can still have it here at Prost. You can have it all year long! While I was down with the food and venue in general, what won me over in the end was "The Boot." This is an enormous glass boot that they will only serve you if you are in a group of at least three people. And, while I'm sure my friends and I could have each handled our own boot full of alcohol each on our own, its probably good we didn't. You do have to pay a buttload of money if you break the boot though. Which makes sense, because the boot full o'beir is a big draw to the place and I mean, how many places sell glass boots for drinking out of these days? Such beauty is the stuff of fairy tales (in some accounts "Cinderella's slipper" was actually a glass boot, though Cinderella as we know it was a French variation of a folk tale, so most Americans haven't heard of the boot version). This was my first time in Portland and Prost was highly recommend. The food was good but the service was sub par. In the time we ordered then wanted to order another sandwich we were told the kitchen was closed . Mind you it was only 5 in the afternoon in a Tuesday. I guess the great food they talk about is not what they really want you to buy. I would recommend asking as soon as you walk in when the kitchen will be closing to insure everyone in your party gets to try the food.
