We've only ever had a pretzel here as far as food goes. It was tasty but not why we came. The ability to get non-ipa, quality German import beer done right was exactly why we came and were not disappointed. About 10-15 options so not a fall full of choices but all are quality and well curated not just peddled. The ambiance is great inside, it's a little taste of a Bavarian pub and the outdoor dining options about too. Some bbq from Matt's and a giant German beer? Yes please. The service has always been excellent as well. Personable bar tenders what help but aren't lurky. Don't forget to ask for their loyalty punch card. We are working our way to our own personal lederhosen and should be there in 50-60 more years. :)
Cute hidden gem on Mississippi. It looks unassuming from the outside but once you step in, it is very lively. Everyone that works here was so friendly and had great recommendations on what to get. I got the pretzel and the beer cheese soup. Dipping the pretzel into the soup on a cold fall night with good company around you was honestly kind of healing. The beer cheese soup was honestly the star of the night. It was so delicious. Thank you to the staff for recommending it!
Prost! - Great Beer, Chill Vibes & Unexpected Surprises Stopped by Prost! in Portland and had a great time. It's a relaxed spot with a solid selection of German beers, small bites, and a fun, social vibe. To my surprise, they even had RC Cola on tap--I was able to get a full stein of it, which was a nostalgic (and hilarious) bonus. The menu leans mostly German, so we played it safe and went with the Hot pretzel with mustard and cheese--simple but tasty. We also sampled two different beers (didn't catch the names), and both were crisp and well-balanced. Prost! is part of a larger food truck pod, so if you're hungry for something other than bar snacks, you've got options just steps away. Whether you're looking to kick back with a cold beer or grab a quick bite before exploring more of the area, this is a solid stop. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood!
My bf and I were visiting Portland and decided to do a little bar hopping and came here. They have quite a selection of German beers. I ordered a barbarian pretzel and well there was nothing Barbarian of it lol it was soo small! However it was tasty and the obatzda was soo good especially the cheese. I paired it with a glass of . My bf had beer and he ordered Andechs Spezial Hell. He thought it was good and said it had hints of honey.
Service was excellent. Not too crowded for a Monday night. Sitting outside was perfect despite the rain. The fire made it toasty warm. I had the pretzel sandwich with the soup of the day. So good.
Good bar with a nice outdoor patio and some TV's. Good selection of German beers which aren't my favorite but the wheat beer I had was decent. They also had a chicken noodle soup special that was very good. Haven't tried anything off the normal menu.
I was hoping they had better food, but it's mostly basic bar snacks - some wursts, sauerkrauts and pretzels and such. We got a wurst sampler which came w/ a couple sausages, sauerkraut, mustard, pickle spear and couple slices of bread. Simple but decent. It's a busy bar w/ minimal service - they'll bring out food & bus ur table but u gotta go to the bar to ask for anything u need. Got a lot of tasty German beers (even 1 liter beers ) and if u don't feel like sausages there's a bunch of other tasty choices at this food cart pod on Mississippi.
This spot has been in my bookmarks for a long time! Strong all around 4&1/2 = so we went with a 5. Ambience offers that cozy German vibe - friendly customers, hooks for your jackets, scarves, beanies and purse. Warm wooden walls and plaques from their regular, dedicated guests - which makes us wish we lived closer. Service personified - thanks All Day Bartender = wish we had the delightful gentleman's name! Authentic, delicious food! Thank you & Prost!
We have been going to this bar for years! This bar has grown in popularity! If you are looking for solid beers then this is your place! Especially if you desire German beer! If you are a non beer drinker the menu provides hot toddy's, mulled wine and more! A drink for everybody! There is a small food menu as well that features sausages and soups! The area outside the bar has food trucks too! Plus there is a second bar outside! The seating consist of a few stools at the bar and bench tables! Some tables are communal! There is more seating outside with fire pits! We had some refreshments and snacks during our visit! I had the beer cheese soup. A bowl without bread is 7 dollars, a little high! The soup was super salty! And for the price it should come with Bread! Also the menu said chives would be on top of the soup but the soup did not have chives! Husband had landjaeger for six dollars that came with two small pieces of bread, mustard and very little meat! He was not pleased with the amount of meat per the prices: he spoke with the staff and the staff responded with that's the amount they always provided! As we been coming here for years, we questioned that response! Given our food experiences I would skip these food items! Just come for drinks or try the food trucks! If you like sausages: the sausage sandwiches did look good! If we were to rate this place on our waiter and drinks, we would give this place five stars! Based on our food experience and customer service regarding our food, I took a couple of stars off!

The sausage dogs at Prost are a must-try. There's a satisfying crunch when you bite in, and the sauerkraut, tang mustard and ketchup combo is genuinely delicious -- salty, tangy, and just right. And there's nothing like a cold, kolsh crisp beer to go with it. Service could be amplified a bit but overall a great experience along with the outside seating experience read more
If you ever find yourself on Mississippi Ave and you're looking for a delicious lunch and maybe a nice cold beer, this is a terrific place to stop. It's all German fare and it's absolutely amazing. I tried the Bratwurst mit Sauerkraut. I choose the smoked brat. It was delicious. I also had a cup of their Bier Cheese Soup. Oh my goodness! It was the best cheese soup I have ever had. When I tell you I wanted to lick the bowl, I'm not kidding. Best ever. My friend had the Pretzel Sandwich and she loved it. Also, she had a bowl of the cheese soup and also thought it was the best she had ever had. We sat outside at a shared picnic table and it was lovely. The service was excellent, fast and friendly. I highly recommend this wonderful German restuarant. read more
Atmosphere during the Mexico versus England game was insane. It was extremely fun but PACKED! The staff did an amazing job at providing excellent customer service with the hundreds of people around. The inside, outside and bathrooms were clean. My only disappointment was the TVs had a glare when it was really sunny & the pretzels were small and mediocre. Drinks were tasty and my partner & friends enjoyed their beers. Would highly recommend for a World Cup game but be prepared for it to be packed for the final game. Arriving a few hours early wasn't enough for us to get seats. read more

Dylan was amazing with our celebratory 21st birthday crew! He knew what we wanted before we even said it, had great recommendations, and really made our German family feel special. read more

A decent German restaurant/pub is a tricky thing to find outside of obvious places like Leavenworth, WA, but Prost! manages to fill that niche quite nicely, without requiring a five hour drive into the middle of Washington! Prost! also serves as the anchor to a fantastic food cart pod on the north end of Mississippi avenue, and shares its outdoor patio space with its less permanent neighbors. With a solid selection of beers (German or otherwis); excellent food (both the Bier Cheese Soup and the Pretzel Sandwich are to die for!); competent, efficient, friendly and PROMPT service (our order arrived tableside in a handful of minutes, despite the place being full-to-bursting); and a warm and inviting venue both inside and out; one of the most authentic, unpretentious, and casual friendly Oktoberfest celebrations within city limits; and all of this crammed within the wall of a cozy, friendly, slightly claustrophobic pub that wouldn't be out of place on a Berlin street corner, Prost! really is the best of the wurst, and one of liveliest, and most convivial watering holes this side of Deutschland...or at least the North Cascades! read more

I'll never forget the experience I had here. Came in April for my birthday while on a trip to the city and had an awesome time. The bar tender made sure me and my party were welcomed and felt comfortable. The beers were absolutely amazing and each with their specific glass. Also they have an awesome membership! Shout out to who ever owns a stool! Will come back every time Im in the city! read more

A cool warm pub with communal tables, and a German style patio that makes it super fun. Different style of food for you to choose and enjoy. We had Greek, Indian, and American cuisine that were delicious. If you visit Portland, Oregon go to "Prost!". read more
If you like beer this is great spot to stop by while on Mississippi Ave. The German beers are always great and the service is quick even when it is busy. The food portions are pretty small however and the bread is kind of dry. read more
The real deal for German beer and bier hall vibes! A fantastic German beer offering in an authentic European bar and a sprawling covered outdoor area surrounded by a variety of food trucks. This is the perfect gathering spot for friends with something for everyone. It's even dog friendly! Staff is so friendly, helpful and so quick to bus the tables to turnover to the next guests. read more

Beer! German pretzels! Chill vibes! What more do you need?! Great atmosphere and if Bre is working...her music playlist kept me here for longer than I was planning!!! read more
We enjoy German beers & food, so I had this place on my radar to try. The decor is cool & they have a big covered patio, too. There is also a few food carts next to the patio with otter food options if you don't want their German fare. They were very busy at 5:30p on a Saturday, but we managed to get the last open table when we walked in. The service was slow & I don't think the same server came back twice, but a bit slow is to be expected on a Saturday evening in hip Boise neighborhood of Portland, I guess. We had a couple rounds of good beers and I had the bratwurst sampler for dinner, which was quite tasty (2 kinds of sausage, 2 kinds of mustard, kraut, & rye bread). The Hubs and our friend both had the pretzel-bun sandwich, and they both said it was good, too. One odd thing was the music they were playing was current pop music, which is a bit at odds to their German-theme. Plus the music was quite loud, so we sometimes had to really raise our voices to hear one another. read more

After surviving the snow storm that hit the Portland area, I was looking for a place that was open to eat. Fortunately, Prost remained opened despite the weather. Immediately upon arrival I knew I made a great choice venturing in. The music was excellent (a montage of classic rock), the service was phenomenal (Chris was absolutely fantastic!!) and the overall vibe was awesome! Not being a beer drinker, I entrusted Chris to select one for me and it was great! I could not decide between the pretzel and bier cheese soup so he recommended I order both, which I promptly did. Both were delicious and exactly what I needed on such a cool evening. I met some really cool people at Prost and really enjoyed the connection/conversation. I enjoyed Prost so much I ended up circling back after exploring other options in the area. I would gladly come back when in the Portland area in the future! read more

Ich liebe Prost! A personal top favorite for chuggin a giant stein inside the raucous atmosphere or sippin outside in the spacious heated patio of the marketplace. Great selection of German brew, a nice way to cleanse the palate from the IPA norm. A few TVs for the current game but the place is overflowing if you can catch the World Cup here. Not food focused so the menu is decent for a drinking hole ~ chewy pretzels, not the worst wursts, kraut just sour enough. Bartenders are smiley & friendly but there is always one. Pup friendly! read more

Super nice spot on Mississippi. They are famous for their banana beer that you can get in a boot. We stopped in real quick on our way to dinner and of course got the banana beer. We're not beer drinkers. So we couldn't really taste the banana in it but at the end of the pint my husband said he could taste the banana a bit as an aftertaste. read more
