Lake
Steve A.

In Prospect Park, there's a lake. It's in the southern area. This is surrounded by a jogging trail. It's also nice to look at. This area is often pretty quiet. If you like running then you will enjoy it here. It's a couple miles around. The lake is also nice just to sit by and do nothing. It's the nicest thing in the southern part of the park, and it gets lots of people just walking around it. There are some who go fishing there. It's a good place for a picnic. There's often people grilling when it's warmer. If it's not a holiday weekend it's usually quiet here. Many times it's just some joggers. This is good if you need some alone time.

One of my favorite places in all of Brooklyn. It tends to be quiet, peaceful and relatively deserted no matter what is happening in the park. I love ending every bike ride and run at this lake or just enjoying the view when out for a walk. So beautiful and serene. It's idyllic.

Solid lake with decent sized fish. Big recommendation if you go fishing is to use tons of weedless baits--there's tons of stuff that baits get caught on in this lake so be weary of this!

It is a great park. Specially if you have a dog. They have off leash hours even though the time is not perfect. I am still very happy I can bing my dog and let him run free while he plays with his bodies!

Nice place for running or just to have rest from everyday working routine. It is really beautiful there. One of the gems of Brooklyn.

As a visitor to the city, finding parking on a weekday afternoon was near impossible, until it became possible after what felt like 25 minutes of searching for a spot. The park is truly sprawling and there are many places to explore, including pavilions, bridges, falls, a pond, a creek, and endless paved trails. We also couldn't help but notice that the park overall may not have been maintained consistently, based on the extensive weeds in fountains, for instance. We saw at least two cafes that had pastries, sandwiches, and beverages on their menu that looked good enough to make us think we'd definitely go there if we lived locally. All in all, I'm grateful for this space being available for locals and visitors to enjoy, and hope it is maintained and stays open for many more years.

I do prefer weekday visits myself. The walking/bike paths are a great way to see the park in its entirety. Plenty of green space for a picnic, playing frisbee, etc. Playground and splash pads as well. Of course, I can't forget the lake with all of the ducks splashing about. It's really a wonderful way to spend a day in Brooklyn, getting away from it all.
