What an exquisite time we have every time we visit. This review is for when we visited in March for…read morea small birthday celebration. The food was amazing. I chose the Lamb Papardelle, which was earthy and savory with gloriously wide noodles. My companions had the grilled salmon and rigatoni. Jessica, the adjacent Speakeasy restaurant manager, made my custom cake. It was amazing. She made a gluten-free, fluffy chocolate cake with fresh raspberries between the layers--slightly sweet and tangy. Soooo delicious. She added red roses to match the roses on the tables. And they honor your celebration of birthdays and anniversaries with an adorable (Scrabble) sign on your table. And those exciting candles...feel free to check out the lovely photos. What an absolutely delightful memory we made for my birthday. The service is always accessible, attentive, welcoming, and friendly. It's a cozy space, so be sure to make reservations. The ambience is so elegant--at any point, you expect a member of the Rat Pack or some performer to be dining there. They have excellent live piano music I believe on Fridays and Saturdays.

We ordered the truffle risotto and lobster bisque for the appetizers, and I thought they were both very hearty. Truffle flavor was there, and the risotto texture was great! For the entrees, we had to get the steaks. They were cooked medium-rare like we requested, and the meat was very tender. I would definitely want to come back to try a few things I've seen on their menu that weren't offered during the Valentine's Day special dinner service. Service was phenomenal and super friendly, even during the busy night. The live pianist and vibes added an extra touch to the atmosphere and made it a very pleasant dinner!

I ordered the carrot soup and my friend got the egg salad toast. My soup came in a really generous bowl, so generous that I actually had leftovers to take home. It was comforting and flavorful, and perfect for a lighter meal. I also ordered a lavender latte that was absolutely delicious. For dessert we shared the princess cake, which was definitely the highlight. The whipped cream layer was so light and airy and balanced perfectly with the cake. It wasn't overly sweet. Overall it was a really enjoyable lunch and we both agreed we'd definitely come back to try more things on the menu.

Breakfast sandwhich with added sausage patty was small but super fresh ingredients and solid. The deviled eggs were different than your usual bbq eggs. Different tasting but good. Japanese milk bread cinnamon roll was light but fluffy in middle. The frosting wasn't too sweet. The princess cake had light cream and super fluffy cake. This was my fave of all the pastries. The caramel sticky bun was good but little too sticky for me. The pistachio/strawberry donut like pastry was good. All of the staff were nice and helpful.

If you've not been to this restaurant since the new owners, I highly recommend it. We were there…read morefor a gathering of 8 in the back room reserved just for us. Two companions ordered and raved about their burger. Everyone loved the crispy-on-the-outside and tender-on-the-inside fries. They were gracious to create a special order for me: 2 eggs scrambled with spinach, diced tomatoes, and chorizo; iceberg lettuce, plantains, and homemade hollandaise. Since l adore extremely lemony hollandaise, I asked for lemon wedges; they brought 3 and I could have used even more. (I really like it lemony!) Our server was fun, sweet, competent, and friendly. There are so many wonderful options on the menu--breakfast all day including omelets, waffles, and pancakes. Thursdays are for special pricing for pupusas I can't wait to try. The ambience is adorable. It's a Western theme. Our server wore a fringe vest. There are adorable stools (see photo!) that are actually as comfortable as they are cute. There are two big screen TVs that had lovely spring scenes that made me pause, smile, and soak it in. There's a rack of Western hats--perhaps for little buckaroos to wear when seated on the horse getting their photo taken. There's a huge white throne bench for photos, too. Super fun. I'll be back!

This Star Restaurant deserves at least seven stars!…read more My son and I just came back from a two-week vacation in Spain and the first craving we had was for Latin American food. How lucky were we to discover that Star Restaurant was just around the corner. First of all, I used to remember it long ago as an American diner. What is surprising is that it still is (serving breakfast all day, along with favorite American food like burgers and baby back ribs) but in addition, there is a delicious selection of Guatemalan dishes. My son had the Bistek (with all the fixings: salad, rice & beans) and I opted for a huge moist flavorful chicken tamale appetizer with my "Mojarra Frita" which turned out to be one whole (head to tail) fried tilapia that also included rice, beans, salad and handmade (thick but fluffy) corn tortillas. How do I begin to describe every item on my plate?! I can't. I only know that I will go back and try their whole menu dish by dish, if it takes a lifetime. Every biteful was mouthwatering and completely satisfying. Definitely try a glass of horchata (made with rice, water & milk) with your meal! It's sweetly delicious and soothes the stomach when you've eaten too much! I should know. I can't say enough good things about Star Restaurant. (Okay, I'll try!) Their customer service is excellent. (If you ask them to omit the cilantro & onions, they remember.) The staff are there to make sure your experience is unforgettably positive. There are more reasons to try Star. White tablecloths on each table! What casual diner has white tablecloths at dinnertime?! Star does. Their menu is extensive but nothing about it screams fast food. The western decor is cute and friendly. The restroom facilities are clean. (There must be a word limit but here I am still typing!) All that aside, the main reason to try Star Restaurant (again and again) is the food. I'm talking about Latin soul food made by a family who cares about quality and attention to details. Cooked with love by their family to our families. Muchas gracias, Star Restaurant! We will be back with more family and friends (so that we can try the rest of the menu)!

Who knew Prosecco was the perfect pairing with corned beef and herbed, salted butter (which I slathered over everything--it's not every day...it's ok!) And I asked for corn street-sized tortillas; I made corned beef tacos with roasted potatoes and al dente cooked sweet carrots. So flavorful. I didn't eat the cabbage (being Bohemian, I'm used to a different flavor). Oh but that bread pudding--and I don't usually like bread pudding. That sauce was awesome! Creamy, very flavorful maple. Wow. Paired well with black decaf coffee with cubes of raw sugar. Always welcoming staff. Excellent, varied choice of music--great rock classics and more.

We were just looking to…read morehave kind of hors d'oeuvres and a cocktail and just hang out together, because we found ourselves with a rare four-hour window where the kids were occupied and we could just do whatever we wanted. This was a nice way to spend a few hours. The space is neat. It's as small, somewhat dark ambiance with the windows blacked out. So, you do loose your sense of time a bit inside. That's actually nice as it feels like you went somewhere/somewhen else for a while. We had a Manhattan and a Kentucky Mule, and, additionally, we had three different shareable appetizers. First thought, we ordered and devoured a really exceptional cheese plate. I know cheese plates seem a little meh sometimes, but this was really good! I would absolutely order it again. In fact, I would definitely go there just to have the cheese plate again with a drink, a glass of wine. We also had the three tacos shareable. There were three tacos that were stunningly good. Lastly a dish with some little steak medallions and a shrimp. Each of these was about two bites and the flavor and texture was excellent. All three of the shareables and the drinks were exceptional. I have to call out that, with the cheese board, came a little loaf of bread. That bread was really good all on its own. I would definitely want to eat it. I can still taste it. It was really good, but my wife, she's gluten intolerant. They offered, because she couldn't eat the bread, they offered to also bring her out some gluten-free crackers, so she got to enjoy the cheese board just the same without the bread. They gave her the crackers, and do you know, they just gave her those extra. They didn't ask for something more. They didn't do anything. They just took care of her. I really appreciate that. I have to also give a shout out to the Jessica. I don't know how she did it, but she was taking care of the whole room of tables I think. Nice. We ordred all three shareables at the same time and she thoughtfully said, 'do you mind if I course these out for you?' We said yes and she did. I don't think anybody felt like they didn't have everything they needed, so a shout out to you, Jessica, really well done. We're grateful for the service and the high quality dining experience that you gave us on a moment's notice. I hope we can visit again soon. And, especially we want to check out The Boardroom soon. NOTE: This is in a kind of older looking strip mall. Don't be concerned about that at all! It threw us off a little at first and we did wonder when we pulled in though if we were in the right place. Happily, we were!
