In from California on a Saturday at 1pm and was referred to this place by our AirBnB host. Place was packed, seated graciously for a party of three within a few minutes.
Ordered the steak tartare and was told they are only serving the breakfast menu despite the menu saying lunch is served after 12 noon. But I digress...
Ordered the grilled blood sausage and was told they were out of the that. To streamline, I asked what was available. Waiter ran down the menu. Basically, the Benedict's, pancakes and granola.
Ordered the Eggs Royal with Fresh Ginger Tea. Tea was light on ginger flavor but wonderfully refreshing. Get it with honey.
The Eggs Royal was a good attempt. The eggs were soft boiled vs. poached and what I could taste of the bread was on point despite being smothered in Hollandaise. The home-graved salmon got lost in this dish when they should have been the star of the show. All in, the quality ingredients showed great potential, it was the proportions of each along with the overcooked eggs that threw this dish off.
Ambiance and energy of the place was great. In a town not particularly known for its non-Viennese cuisine, this place shows promise.
Would definitely try the place again, perhaps arriving a bit earlier for a Saturday brunch to have all the menu options available. read more
