I ordered the prosciutto and fig pizza which was very tasty however the service was extremely slow and the server that delivered the pizza treated me as though she was doing me the favor. I ordered a Coke to come with it and it had a moldy taste to it which I confirm by smelling it as well but I don't know if it was the glass or the drink. As I said the food was good but for the price I would've expected better service. read more

Always eat at proof whiskey bar when in Newark. My bartender and waiter is always Chris. He's friendly, fast and the food is always very good!!!! read more

Another delay at EWR, another chance to settle in at Proof. Restless be damned, this is the spot to sit and chill. Drinks on drinks.

To jump right to it, the reason for my 1 star review is undoubtedly the service I was provided at my last visit. I travel frequently for work and Newark is an airport I have spent quite a bit of time at. Since I usually fly United, I leave out of terminal C and eat at the Proof Whiskey Bar restaurant nearly every time. This past time I was at Proof Whiskey, my coworker and I were treated very rudely by a server/table bus guy. We noticed he kept coming to our table asking if we were ordering food or if we were finished with our drinks (we had 3 hours before departure and our flight was delayed, so we were taking our time, but we were ordering drinks.)He came by to just our table multiple times asking if we needed anything and if we were going to order more food. When he wasn't at our table, he was giving us dirty looks. Finally, we were getting ready to leave, and he came over and asked us what time our flight was taking off, to which my coworker replied "I know you want us to leave, we're getting up now." Luckily, she answered before I did because I was not planning on being as nice. Yes, food is expensive, but it's "restaurant" quality and you're at an airport so for the convenience and type of food, you're going to pay a little more. My issue is expecting an 18% gratuity when literally the only think the waiters/waitresses do is bring your food. You order everything on iPads, there's not really any service going on besides running food. With that being said, if I'm going to pay $19 for half of a glass of wine, I expect to be able to enjoy it at my leisure and not be rushed. I do not anticipate spending my money at this establishment in the future. read more

Proof Whiskey Bar is a GREAT PLACE to enjoy a good meal or a healthy drink , however Chris provided us with an exceptional dining experience. His knowledge of wine and spirited wit made our choice worth the wait for a table. Chris is truly an asset to Proof Whiskey Bar. We'll definitely be back!! read more

There's not a lot to say for an airport grill and bar. You'll be ordering through an iPad (a sequence of events that I don't think is all that great) and your food and drink will be delivered in a decent amount of time. I say decent, but I had a 4 hour layover, so I wasn't really watching the clock. The wrap that I got was fine and the beer was cold. The menu is pretty much pub grub as you would expect and you'll pay more than you'd like, as you would expect. read more

Service was fine and friendly. Nice airport bar. I didn't eat. It's all iPad service.

Service is promp and attentive. Food is good. The menu is extensive and great selection. The beer selection is also good with many selections. You can dine and have your gadgets charge at the same time. Its a great place to pass time especially on long lay over. read more

Service was fast and I liked my fig and cranberry salad. It's pricey but it is the airport. You can use their iPad for free too and there's an outlet right next to it to charge your phone. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Rude staff this morning. He had us change tables twice because the table was dirty and then the tablets were dead. And on top of that we couldn't order a bagel without lox so we left. read more

Great burger. Not your typical low cost frozen patty. We both had breakfast burgers which were perfectly cooked to rare and medium with a nice side of high quality thick bacon. The prices are on the high side but for an airport serving decent food it's what I expected. It is one of those iPad ordering systems so don't expect to be waited on but our guy was good when he came around. Drink was stiff. Really can't complain. read more

It's nice because they are convenient to the gates, but the pricing is pretty bad. I just wanted to grab a quick side before boarding- the cheapest easiest thing was fries- $8 for a side of fries ugh-and all glasses of wine over $10! So just for a glass of wine and Fries plus tip and tax, over $20. The bartenders are usually pretty friendly so I'll give it 3 stars instead of 2. read more

Cool concept but lacking in customer to server interaction if you want it. No cash handled or accepted and gratuity is a mandatory %18. If you are old fashion and not very keen with using tablets to order you might not like this place. Prices are outrageous even for airport prices. I'm sure they charge so much just because they can. On the bright side food is good, drinks made to your specification and quickly delivered. Additionally you can you use your United Airline miles to pay for everything, but they ask for a ridiculous amount of miles as well. There are better ways to use your miles so try it once with a credit card if hungry and in a hurry, else avoid this pocket rape. read more

My burger was disappointing, but my coworker ordered the ribeye and was happy. The iPad crashed during my order and charged me twice. The server tried to refund the second charge, but I'm not seeing the refund on my card yet. read more

The set up is pretty interesting - in the center of the hallway is a seating area with iPads for ordering, as well as plugs for recharging your devices. You order through the iPad which is pretty easily done. The quality of the salad that I got was actually not bad - except that it was transported from another part of the airport. By the time it was delivered to the table, the greens were completely wilted. The staff was not friendly or engaging. I can understand when one person has a bad day, but when you interact with three expressionless servers who barely acknowledge you and ignore your "thank you".... well, something's going on. While the steak was cooked well, the bacon was tough and stringy; salad dressing was tasty but again, the greens were soggy by the time of delivery. Also, the price for a salad and soda topped $40.00. Not a bargain, understandably, but seriously overpriced. read more

Can't believe how slow the service is. Won't use ever again. Ordered a simple breakfast sandwich and it took 25 minutes!!! Luckily I could wait but that's unacceptable. I asked the two men working and both said it's normal. read more

There are quite a few restaurants in the Newark airport that are similar to Proof. It just happened to be outside the gate of my connecting flight. Service here is surprisingly good. To be fair, I was here for breakfast, so it wasn't incredibly crowded. The restaurant caters to every technological need you might have. Chargers (standard and USB) at every seat plus an iPad. Food here is good. I was surprised. However, prices are outrageous. Omelet and coffee this morning cost me a whopping $26. Yes, you know the prices before you order, but wow. If you don't mind the hit to your wallet, your tastebuds will be happy. read more

Terrible service. Food was slow and cold. Overpriced. Even for an airport location. Tablet orders only and anything out of the norm is frowned on. I watched dissatisfied customers one after another. No one cared. Is it Jersey or just crappy attitudes and bad hires. I'll go with bad hires and bad management because most people in the Garden State have been friendly and great to work with. read more

Ordered my food and paid for it on the iPad. Was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. After more than thirty minutes, I still didn't have my food and I had to leave to catch my flight. Was told I'd be fully refunded, but instead I was charged $8.53 for a watered down Diet Coke that was never refilled. Avoid this place. read more

Yonni is THE BOMB!!!!!! She is so attentive to the busy holiday crowd and understanding of us 27 year old grannies who can't operate the iPad. Five well deserved stars on service. read more

Anywhere you pay $14.50 to get a Cesar Salad served with soggy croutons is a bust. It's an overpriced airport bar - what did I expect? Upside: the french fries were la bomba, free refills on my tea and the servers were attentive. read more

Burger was surprisingly wow! Proof and vanguard are running by the same people. We were able to order from the kitchen vanguard menu. The food came quick. You need to place order on the iPad but they don't allow you to customize but the waiter did ask the chef not to put butter. The system charges tips when you place an order. There didn't seem to have a designated waiter as the waiter was also the bartender. Each person has a iPad to use on the table. We requested for a straw and the waiter gave us a few. We were still using them and he just took them away without even asking as it was not the end of our meal. read more

Ordered food and beer via iPad in the lounge in the front, though it was served fast, but did NOT get any fork and napkins - was eating with fingers and cleaning myself with sleeves. Moreover aint this moronic to pay a gratuity before u got the service? Moreover, I asked for the receipt - no way you get the receipt. read more

John was great! He asked everyone that came to the bar if they were familiar with the style of service and guided everyone in the right direction! Great Manhattan before my flight! read more

Went here today and had a great time. Service was good. Ask for Chris if you stop by. The steak he brought was perfect and he made sure to check on me to make sure everything was ok. Good place to dine when you're looking for a sit down to eat before you're next flight. read more

Can't believe I had a decent properly prepared burger and a Tito's mule at the bar across from my gate! My waiter Chris was the best! Recommend an airport bar?! I just did! read more

Chris was great. Good service and the food and drinks were nice. My flight was delayed so I had a bit more time than usual to assess ans I was pleasantly surprised. read more

I recommend that you never go to any of these establishments. Service is horrible, they do not think about how much time people have to wait for their food before they board their flights. Waited 30 minutes to get an omelet and it still had not arrived. So I had to leave without getting my breakfast. Fortunately my American Express service representative is customer focused and they will take care of the charge sense I never got my meal. read more

Absolutely horrid. The iPad to order was broken. Finally used a different iPad to order. Then waited 20mim for a glass of water. Then asked where my food is then was told it's another 20min wait. I was like ok can I just get my coffee. No coffee is out too. This is at 8:34am. Waitress never even stopped by. See them talking on the phone. The staff looks like 16 year olds. Wasted 30min here for nothing read more

With 2 hours before boarding, I am grateful that Terminal C is now equipped with not only charging stations but also bar and food service. However, as expected with everything in an airport, the drinks are very overpriced and the service was incredibly slow. I consider myself tech savvy but the ipad ordering system is not intuitive. And did I mention SLOW? I ordered my beer almost 30 minutes ago. I guess beggars can't be choosers. Tip is automatically added (unless you manually adjust). Overall, it makes the waiting experience better- 3 stars. read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! You know a place sucks when it can't even do simple breakfast right! Not to mention crappy service! Eggs over cooked! Cold turkey bacon ! Tea that taste like coffee and no kidding 30 mins to get water! I know it's Jersey but come on! If you're gonna charge airport prices at least be worth it! read more

Chris was an awesome server!! The drinks were good and the food was amazing! 5 stars!!

Steer clear of this place period. Ordering system sucks, food sucks (Cobb salad)- drink prices wow! Plus they want a 18% gratuity? The only one who deserves one is the bartender / maybe! read more

Slow, stupid staff. Limited menu Untoasted English muffin no butter no salt. Salad wasn't dressed. I never got my food Better off grabbing something from a concession stand otherwise you'll miss your flight. It's 6 am and the manager said they were busy. Hello it's an airport grandma read more

Proof Whiskey Bar - Umm, that's not bacon - Whiskey Bars Near Me - Newark, New Jersey

Don't bother with this place. The food is very expensive and you dont get much. For $27.00 I got a chicken leg. One stock of aspargas cut into 3 pieces and one fingerling potato cut in 3 pieces. Also it isn't good. I ordered the roasted chicken. It is dry and not seasoned. The service sucks too!!! Good thing they make you pay and tip when you order because I dont think I would tip this guy at all. read more
