Since this is the first froyo place in Hoofddorp, I would like to make one very important distinction... Frozen Yogurt = you order a flavor/toppings and someone working there makes it for you Froyo = completely self-service. YOU fill your cup and YOU have complete control over what and how much of toppings you want to bukkake over your froyo. Then you pay per gram. OOOOBviously, Froyo is the way to go so you can get the optimal ratio of yogurt/toppings!! FREEDOM!!! If you have been to a froyo place before, it's just another place. BUT there is a twist. Chillbox is a greek company and you'll see random greek throughout the froyoeria. Being a greek company, you can get greek drinks like frappe or fredo esprosso so don't forget to tap some of that greek shizzle as your are downing your box-o-chill!! If you speak Greek, most of the guys here are Greek and will be MORE than happy to have a chit chat with you. The yogurt tastes better, perhaps creamier. Maybe it is the milk from the Dutch cows. The formula is simple. Pick your cup size and toppings. I went with a regular plain yogurt with fruits (strawberries, lychee, and pineapple). The fruits were so fresh and juicy. If you don't want fruit, you can also top your yogurt with nuts, coconut, granola, etc. The overall effect is refreshing with a mix of textures.

A quick, cheap and satisfying meal that helps break up the falafel routine. I'm a fan.

The afternoon tea option is crazy cool - two unique yoghurt combos, two rolls, two desserts, and an unlimited cup of tea with their eight self-bag options. The tea options range from basic (Chinese Jasmine, Earl Grey) to quite unique (champagne tea, mon cheri). The option to self-bag at the table is quite fun - you can blend or try as many as you can get out of a big pot of hot water. Despite being a little bit chilly inside in winter, the restaurant is relaxed and a very nice ambiance. With comfy chairs around the back side, you might just take a nap after a nice treat. I should not fail to mention the staff who are exceptionally patient and kind, especially with newcomers to the concept. The differences between these is what they use as the base (cream versus milk versus ice). It doesn't matter which flavor or type you get, you are in for a delicious treat. This all little ice cream shop looks like any other gelato place from the outside and came at a time I was trying to squeeze a little in before getting my bags and heading to the train station. Upon entering you are greeted with the typical cabinet of flavours and I my two choices were Stracciatella and Smurf, yes Smurf. Now, when you order Smurf from this place the lights dim a little bit, music starts playing, the Smurf's appear on the TV, and bubbles start falling form the season and all of that is just plain magical. Did I immediately start laughing? Yeah I did, because I was confused and it brought me so much joy. Back to the actual gelato, and guess what, it was in fact good! The gelato was creamy, rich, and had great flavour. Overall, Jan Pieter Ijsje was a great little place to stop and grab some gelato. I might not remember everything I ate and did when I was in Amsterdam in a decade or so, but I can assure you I will never forgot what happened when I ordered the Smurf ice cream.
