Glad that we randomly decided to stop by - what a great place for pizza and a wine tasting in Sonoita! There is both indoor and outdoor seating depending on your preference and a dog friendly area for outside. Pronghorn Pizza is based in the Dos Cabezas tasting room and serves delicious pizza. The crust is chewy and has a nice wood fired char. My husband and I shared the pepperoni pizza - the pepperoni was so crispy and its spice went well with the additional heat of the salsa macha and the sweetness of the honey. The size of the pizza was perfect for the two of us. We also opted for a wine tasting while we enjoyed our food - we chose the reds which included 6 tastings (but you can also do white wines or a mix). The wines overall were pretty good - our favorites were the El Norte and La Montaña. It's $12 if you bring your own glass, $15 for plastic cups, and $20 for taking home a crystal glass. We ended the meal with the lemon cake which was disappointing (why is why I docked 1 star overall) - it was dry and bland (only lemon flavor was on top) and felt overpriced for the size and quality of the cake. The pizza and the wine are the draws for coming back, and we would definitely drop by again the next time we're in the Sonoita area for wine tasting or heading down to Patagonia! read more

The pizza is out of the world good! We got the Ian and Griffin, and my goodness, they were tasty. The crust was chewy without being too doughy, and it complemented the toppings well. They came out pipping hot and went perfectly with the wine. We also got the lemon saffron ice cream and the chocolate cake. Both were excellent but pricey. Service was attentive and professional. It's a casual restaurant so we got paper plates and plastics cutlery. Bottles of wine are priced reasonably but very expensive when it's by the glass. read more

The pizza might have been good if it hadn't been overcooked and microscopic at $19, a cheap serving for an absurd price and one for the record books for my seventy-four years. My gosh, I know the wine business must be tough, but don't take it out on the locals! Good pizza is exactly what Sonoita needs, but every place that does it makes the same mistake, they starve you and fleece you at the same time. Still, the cowboys and cowgirls just think, well? where else am I going to go? This Indian will never leave the res for that experience. OUTSTANDING pizza! Quality ingredients and the love shows up in that amazing crust as well! Let me just say that when we head out to Sonoita for a little wine sampling, we always try to eat before we head out there. After reading some of the reviews for this place, we decided to give them a try and not were we pleasantly surprised!!! We grabbed three, one with potatoes and Spanish chorizo, another one with Carne Assda and a "plain" pepperoni with a little drizzle of hot honey. All soooo good that I forgot to take pics of the pies before we dug in. Service was friendly and even though they were super busy at the time that we came in, they still found a spot for us. There is a lot of love for Pronghorn Pizza in Sonoita, and I can mostly see why. They have the kind of crust that you actually want to eat. I was a little disappointed that there were only two vegetarian options, but it was still fine. I did a cheese pizza, and it didn't disappoint, but it also wasn't write-your-friends-about either (and yes, I have had cheese pizzas like that). I assume the people who are in love with the pizza here are likely able to partake in more of the menu, and that is totally cool. We also tried the ice cream, and the "double chocolate peanut butter" tasted more like peanut butter with a little chocolate. I cannot remember many times when I have left ice cream unfinished, but it happened here! I was advised the peach is the way to go when they have it available. Service was friendly. Do note that most seating is outside, so on hot days (it was pushing 100 when I was there), it can be quite toasty. read more

Dined-10/18/23: We went to do wine tasting at Dos Cabezas vineyard and found this tasty place inside. We had the Griffin & Pepperoni pizzas. The dough was perfect. Both pizzas were delicious (the pepperoni was a bit greasy making the dough a little wet) but placing napkins under the slices helped. They make their own fresh crushed pepper & used freshly grated Parmesan cheese. They even have a basil bush they clip as needed for your made to order pizza. Oct. weather was perfect to sit outside. A little pricy but to be expected in the area and considering the fresh ingredients. Would def come again next trip out that way! read more

Tucked away in the back of Dos Cabezas Wineworks, Pronghorn serves up artisinal pizzas, salads, snacks, and desserts, with outstanding service in a laid-back atmosphere and rusic ambiance. The patio seating is especially nice, and there are some bigger tables inside and out to accomade large parties or to eat and commune with like-minded pizza and wine lovers you just happen to meet there and then. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon just to check the place out, and ended up having the best dining experience we've had in Arizona, bar none. We shared a Simple Salad ($8.00) which very good. We also shared an Ian pizza ($17.50) which was extraordinary. The slightly sourdough-ish crust was perfect and the toppings (pesto, mortadella, burrata, pistachio, basil, chiltepin peppers, and copious amounts of olive oil) were a perfect blend of textures and tastes. We're not great wine drinkers, but the food went down just fine with a carafe of cool water. The patio setting was great, and the service was exceptional. While you have to kind of plan your day around the 11-5 hours, we'll be back. Even if we have to make a special trip down from Tucson. Note that there's no outdoor sign for "Pronghorn Pizza." Look instead for "Dos Cabezas WineWorks." But there'll also be a sign out by the highway that says "Wine & Pizza" when they're open. After about 10 months and at least four more visits to Pronghorn, an update is in order. First, in my original review I made a mistake saying the pizzas were one price. Incorrect, they vary by a buck or two. We have ventured to another pizza once, but quickly returned to the Ian, which remains our favorite thus far. While we find that we could eat another slice or maybe two, we found that two pizzas were too much for us, even for my big belly. These pizzas are also best eaten fresh and hot. Service was always good. The ambiance is particularly nice outside but bring a jacket in the cool times. They do vary the ingredients occasionally but wisely retain what looks like the winners. Try this place out and see what is your favorite. read more

Really one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time! We had the Elena and sprinkled their proprietary blend of peppers on top. Savory, sweet, just the but you can right amount of spice, and with an amazingly crispy, tasty crust! my wife and I split a pizza and it left us wishing we had more! We had the Simple Salad (house salad). Very good. Crisp, fresh greens with a light, tasty dressing. The food here was excellent! Pleasant, relaxed atmosphere on the patio. The wine was fine. I was advised by a friend I should try Pronghorn. I stopped in and ordered a meat lovers (more meat added at my request) to go. I didn't have to wait long and even was able to sample a couple different wines during my wait. The pizza was delicious! I will definitely go again! If you prefer they have a cute country nook kitchen where there is room to sit there and enjoy your drinks and lunch. I'm not much into wine although I saw a lot of variety choices. read more

I love me some Pronghorn Pizza! A visit to Sonoita pretty much always includes wine at Dos Cabezas and a meal from Pronghorn, which operates out of Dos Cabezas. The menu has a nice selection of pizzas as well as a couple salads, a cheese/meat plate, warm olives, bread and butter, etc. I love the simple salad and my favorite pizza is the Ian. The combination of pesto, mortadella, pistachio and burrata with a bit of chiltepin is so good! The meat and cheese plate is always nice to share too. When I say Pronghorn Pizza is the absolute best place to grab a bite in Sonoita, I mean it. Pronghorn is so much more than a hidden gem. Tucked in the back of Dos Cabeza's Winery patio is this amazing pizza food truck that no one can seem to get enough of. At first, I didn't want anyone to know about it because I knew it would blow up but, in a way, I am happy for them as they deserve all the praise and attention. Their pizza is outstanding. It didn't take long before word of mouth got out about how good their food is. While it does take a little longer to get pizzas out now that everyone knows about them (plus it's one of the few places to get food in Sonoita), it's well worth the wait. The crust is just right, the sauce is amazing, the cheese is melted perfectly, and the toppings are cooked just right. Pronghorn has ruined pizza for me. If it didn't come out of their pizza oven, I don't want it. What a treasure we get to enjoy in Sonoita! Who doesn't want pizza while they wine taste?! I like to consider myself a pizza connoisseur, and I can say this pizza was AMAZING. I ordered the AllRed and added pepperonis and red sauce and I will be dreaming about this pizza. The ambience and vibe of the restaurant was also amazing. The place is so cute and I love all the plants growing everywhere in the outdoor seating area. It was 90+ degrees outside and it didn't even feel like it sitting outside it was nice and cool. The service was also great the waitresses were very attentive I order the wine tasting and she explained to me what each wine she brought out was. 10/10 recommend trying this place out at least once although I don't think you will be able to go only once. read more

We stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon for pizza and wine, just to check it out. We got a nice table on the patio, and a knowledgeable waitress, who had just started a few weeks earlier. The wine was cold and refreshing, and the pizza was delicious. She lite it on fire for us, but we couldn't see the flames. LOVED our stop into Pronghorn! We made our way through some tasty wineries along AZ-82 and AZ-83. Food is somewhat challenging to come by in Elgin, particularly late into the evening and Pronghorn was a very welcome respite! We popped in thinking we'd do more wine-tasting and enjoyed a lovely beet salad and roasted garlic, onion, arugula, lemon and added-on jalapeño. The weather outside for May was perfect with a slight breeze and plenty of patio seating was available. We are coming back from Phoenix in the fall and can't wait to add Pronghorn to the list of places to stop by and enjoy! read more
