I…read morehad an exam schedule for December 4th, which I prepared for over several months while working full time. I have Diabetes and use Insulin, and I had an approved accommodation from ADA and The Board of Pharmacy allowing me to bring sweets into the exam room because hypoglycemia can be fatal. Despite the official approval letter, the proctor did not follow the approved accommodation and didn't allow the candy inside the testing room. Instead, it was placed outside, and I was told my exam would be paused if I needed to retrieve it. I did not argue and complied. In the middle of the exam, my blood sugar dropped. When I asked for the exam to be paused so I could get a candy, it was ended instead by mistake!!! They were unable to fix the issue, and I was sent home!!! The next available exam date was 2 months later. Nearly 3 weeks have passed without resolution or the ability to reschedule. I contacted the center multiple times, but no clear responsibility was taken. A manager at the Board of Pharmacy informed me that this type of incident is extremely uncommon and had not occurred in many years. Exam accommodations exist to provide equal access for individuals with medical conditions. In my experience, this situation was handled improperly and resulted in significant stress and delay. Ms. S, if you see this review, please understand that this experience had a serious impact on my emotional well-being and professional progress.

This PSI South Bay testing center is conveniently located on Hawthorne Blvd just a half block south…read moreof Manhattan Beach Blvd, next to the 405 freeway. The building has a dedicated parking lot (positive), next to the freeway (positive) easy to locate, but with a decent sized homeless encampment adjacent to the parking lot (big negative) under the freeway. For safety reasons, I chose not to park next to the tents (as a female traveling alone) and instead squeeze my SUV into one of the tight compact spaces on the north side of the lot. The testing center was relatively easy to find. It's clearly a lot older than the Prometric sites that I'd been to before. Older carpeting. Old lockers with numbers written in sharpie on masking tape. Visible storage/clutter. Probably 12-15 chairs. The staff was friendly, and professional (just to add though, at this point I was feeling a little more like an inmate rather than a professional) but there were a few rules (different from other test centers) that I wished I knew about before going in that were NOT indicated on the test confirmation. *No hoodies or pockets. They made everyone remove outerwear, including light sweaters. I felt fortunate to have worn long sleeves today as it is chilly outside and I run cold. Had I been wearing my normal sleeveless tank/tee under my sweater or hoodie, I would have been VERY upset. The temp inside the testing room might have been around 70, so colder than comfortable without, in my opinion. *No obvious bathroom or offer for the bathroom. It was a short exam this time, so not a big deal, but testing centers/proctors usually offer a chance to use the restrooms prior to exam taking. *No fingerprinting services even though it was requested for my appointment. They just don't do it anymore. *No chewing gum. I wasn't, and don't, but I've never been asked before. My car was still where I'd left it and appeared undamaged (just the mere fact that I thought about it caused me a little more unnecessary anxiety). But otherwise an ok experience.

The tutors that have been matched to work with our son (who's now going into 6th grade) has not only help him improve on his reading levels. He's now reading at a 6th grade level! His 5th grade teacher said his confidence has been growing more and more. We are very please and now not so stressed. It's good to find a tutor who could get through to him. Both my two 4th grade daughters come home chanting their tutor's name and wanting to go to tutoring. So we signed them up just to get someone to help them complete their homework daily. We don't understand this new common core curriculum that they're using for the kids nowadays. I personally feel a bit disconnected that I'm unable to help them a little bit. Their current tutor, she's been really helpful and understanding of their specific needs. She's even giving us tips on how my wife and I could get more involved with the girls at home. I definitely appreciate that extra help. My wife and I really like this place. Give them a call and just ask them for help. They're very open!

I reviewed the materials he is solving, and it's definitely ahead of what I thought he was capable of. He was writing letters in mirrors images pretty recently, but the stuff in the workbook here that he was reading and writing reminded me of PSAT (for those old enough to remember those) . Of course, to do these, he needs attention and guidance from a teacher at a much lower ratio than what we can get from school, and here, it's kept at about 2 students per teacher. Being a fidgety flighty 6 yr old boy (hopefully normal?) I don't know how much he learns in his school class of 26 kids and I don't have the skills to teach him myself so I started sending him here for professional help twice a week to make sure he doesn't fall behind. Looks like mission is being accomplished so far! And most importantly, he enjoys learning here, which made it part of our weekly routine now. They offer a free assessment, where the student takes a test and they come back with analysis on the student's level and recommendations. It's a nice computer printout that Mr. Chow goes over with you. And then you can decide to enroll or not, and how often to attend and what times you'd like. It was a nice way to get started, as well as probably the first time I got my child assessed on anything. Thankfully he tested slightly above his grade level, but upon examining the questions, I did notice it would've resulted differently had we not done a few reading sessions on our own just the week prior to the assessment, as the vocab tests were specific. So it's not perfect, but still a really useful experience for the child and the parent!

Best decision ever. Our two sons used Blue Train for multiple things over their junior and senior years - test assessment/diagnostic, ACT prep and guidance, college list building, guidance re HS classes and even extra curricular advise, as well as navigating the college application process and the all-important essay drafting. Scott and the people at Blue Train put the boys on a very manageable schedule and in fact, both of our sons were totally done with most applications by Thanksgiving. Both boys got into tons of schools, got thrown tons of money, and this entire process was so smooth because of Blue Train's guidance. We event consulted with Scott when deciding which schools to attend. I cannot say enough how effective and impressive Blue Train was. Highly recommend !!!

Was I a bit skeptical? Yes lol especially since their pricing is a bit higher than other certification classes. Here is my opinion. This place is definitely worth every single 5-star review you see and read. Dr. Khan and Sylvia who teaches and runs the training classes are so friendly and knowledgeable. They provide you with all the information and skills needed to become board certified. They answer all your questions and never make you feel less for asking them. They prepare you mentally prior and guide you from start to finish on each technique needed from blood withdrawal, setting up an IV line and providing IV therapy. Then they observe your retention knowledge to be able to perform without instructions. Along with educating us on different types of equipment we might come across while working in the field. The classes are fairly small and intimate which makes the learning experience that much more enjoyable as you get to know the other students training along side you. Yes the price is higher than other training facilities, but definitely worth it. Honestly you're paying for great instructors, small class groups, night classes, and realistically; medical supplies are expensive. With that, they still provide you with a tracking number to track your certification to the board as well. This is where you say, you're paying for quality over quantity. Other than providing IV/BW therapy certification. They offer other approved AHA classes like BLS, ACLS, and even an extensive NCLEX refresher prep course. Worth checking out for a great experience.
