I am seeing a sense of confidence when my son does his work which reels me that he's becoming comfortable in his level of understanding and we owe that to Wilmer. The vibe is energetic and positive. My daughter's math has gotten significantly better to the point where her actual math homework for first grade is too easy for her. So it's definitely helping for sure. Separately mathnasium has their own effective currency called "cards" that students earn based on how much math they do and they then use those cards to buy whatever items they want ranging from candy to toys to even big ticket items like ps5 or Nintendo switches. This teaches my daughter to essentially be good with money by learning to save instead of spend which is even more important to me than her being good at math.

Our daughter is already involved in a lot of activities yet we wanted to supplement her learning with additional tutoring without having additional learning assignments -- Sylvan Learning fits the bill. 1. Our daughter looks SUPER FORWARD to going each and every week. The positive reward system they use is excellent. 2. The atmosphere is very positive - the teachers are kind and friendly. 3. There is NO outside homework - very big plus for us not wanting to add an additional burden of more homework. 4. Both of my kids have been attending Mathnasium El Segundo for 1/2 year now. I wouldn't say they…read morelook forward or enjoy going to tutoring class (who does?!) but, they admit that the work they do at Mathnasium, empowers them when it's Math time at school. Occasionally, when my kids are not following a lesson at school, they do not hesitate to ask the tutors at Mathnasium to spend time to work on that specific lesson, so they can be more prepared when they return to school the next day. Overall, my kids believes Mathnasium is crucial for all types of students. The El Segundo location is convenient , and all the tutors are great with the kids. The head staff is very patient, and is willing to take time to discuss the progression of the student with the parents. She has also gained more confidence, her instructor is very positive and encouraging. They are extremely flexible with hours/scheduling. I can always text them for a quick and easy communication rather than calling and playing phone tag. After every session I get an e-mail with notes from her instructor sharing what they covered in the lesson and how it went with a list of things she did well and things she can continue to practice. Also, the sessions are easy to use and set up, it's just a link to click in an e-mail instead of downloading or installing Zoom or any other platform on the device. If I want them to cover any specific homework assignment, workbook, skill or even state testing practice they incorporate that into the session for us. I would highly recommend them!
