Both of my girls are on the JO team, and we have been here for a couple of years now so it felt like we have had solid time to be able to write a credible review vs a singular experience. My younger grew up in the recreational program, we did everything from mommy and me and she went through the classes as she got older, joined the JO Team this past June. I personally didn't think she had what it took, but trusted the gym's judgment...and she's been thriving. Her coaches overall were great, and we even still have moments where rec coaches who work seasonally will come back and be amazed at how much she grew! My oldest has always been on team and we have had injuries, but she had a great season last year. I appreciate how much all her team coaches (Carmen, Toya, Mike, Jim, Kevin, Savannah, Sophie, Jazz), Courtney and the front desk team support her. Having so many coaches for the team is wonderful as they all offer something different in terms of coaching style and personality fit. No place is perfect, but what I do appreciate is that you can have a transparent conversation about how your child is doing / how together we can partner to help our kids progress in a safe way. These conversations may not be easy but the intent is shared that the gym also wants what's best for your child. My oldest has a mental block from breaking her arm twice and the fact that she's at the gym and love gymnastics still is a testament to how much the coaches and the gym cares. I've had conversations with the coaches and Courtney about how it's more than just gymnastics, but how their time at the gym shapes their identity and who they grow into so I appreciate the macro view this gym has vs it's about level / skills / medals. The Xcel coaching team is also excellent - we trained with Curtis on the pre-team prior to JO and we loved him. Kelsey also worked with our girls and is so supportive. It's clear how much the coaches here care about the kids. The gym itself is so well kept in terms of equipment and safety so it's nice to see the pit is cleaned and everything looks clean vs at some gyms there's a lot of dust, fraying, and wear. Lastly, we are not in cheer (sadly), but love Neda and Sammy's energy, and can't think of better coaches to lead this team. read more

If it wasn't for our interaction with April and Lauren this review would be NEGATIVE 100. My teen daughter decided for the new year she wanted to get into gymnastics/tumbling/cheer- we have been looking for a beginner class at a local gym to start her journey. I stumbled upon Rise Gym based on the pictures, and reviews which let me give this establishment a shot. After inquiring and speaking with April ( who was very pleasant and warm) about the possibility of my daughter starting class we decided to move forward to have my daughter have a meet and greet with the staff to see where her skill level was in order for proper placement. When she showed up through the front door-- she was never greeted nor was she asked if she needed help. It wasn't until my spouse came in that the individual who was at the front acknowledged their presence to say the least. Apparently new families who are trying to join the gym are too much of a bother to be pleasant with. However it was very clear that this lady was not in a bad mood or having a bad day -- bc the familiar faces that started coming in she was sure to great and speak with and hold cheerful conversations with ... hmmm interesting. When it was time for her to meet with the coach to do an assessment... it lasted a poor 5 min. It was absolutely pathetic , insulting demeaning and just out right unprofessional. The individual was obviously bothered by my families presence- could barely answer any questions . How despicable ! Shame on you Rise Gym and your horrible staff. It may be perhaps my daughter does not look like the 90% of the kids who attend this gym does not give you a right to think you have the ability and right to treat people like this. So unfortunately NO! I will not recommend this gym to any one especially for families like mine. Take your hard earned money and spend it somewhere where you are wanted. read more

These past couple of years have only resulted in my daughter feeling bad about herself. My daughter has developed her skills and she is a strong athlete but she does have some focus challenges. Gymnastics was supposed to be a place that she could feel good about herself but she has a very negative coach who to this day I have not seen smile. Yesterday was a mock meet and the owner (I assume) who is extremely unfriendly, decided to combine groups which resulted in no parking and no ability to see my kid. I heard from at least 15 other parents who were very annoyed. We all stood for 3 hours, some of us on boxes, just to try to get a glimpse of our kids. This while she was in her skybox watching OUR kids without any issues. My daughter got scared to compete in a couple of the events and she ended up crying, she was very worried about letting people down. As a result her coach e-mailed us today letting us know that if she cried during competition she would be done. Super unfriendly and unkind but to make matters worse, she also said this to my daughter today leaving her feeling horrible about herself. To add insult to injury, the owner said "I stand by my coach". No regard for my daughter or for her parents who are the customers. There have been very public issues that have gone on in gymnastics that we are all now aware of, can you imagine if the people in charge just dismissed things with a sweeping "I stand by my coach" (or doctor to the athletes...that's scary. In the photo you can you see that we are standing rows deep but also the kids who we were trying to watch were at the opposite end of the gym. It breaks my heart to see something that my daughter used to love be a source of pain. read more

We have been searching for a new place for my 6 year old to train at since our last go to spot closed during the pandemic. Before we signed up I emailed the staff with questions I had and Courtney and Lauren were amazing at getting back to me quickly. I was sold with how accommodating and kind they were since I wasn't sure which program my little one would like. We started with gymnastics and she had a wondering time with her coach. The second week we tried the ninja class and it was the winner hands down! So much movement and energy was perfect for tiring out the most energetic girl in the world. Parking is so easy with signage posted with where to go. Who ever designed the lobby thought of everything! A play area for little ones not participating, snacks, gym attire, tables and a large screen with cameras to watch what's going on in the training room. Which is nice when you have a busy toddler and want to still keep up with what's happening. The training floor is so large and the coaches navigate through it beautifully with respect to other classes going on. The coaches are very approachable and make it easy to hand your kids over. It's awesome to see them cheering on your kids too. There is also a balcony area with plenty of seating to watch your kid with ease. This place is also very clean. Equipment is all new and I've seen the employs go around cleaning high touch surfaces. We are so glad we found this place. My little one cant stop talking about all the fun stuff she got to try. 5 stars for making the kids happy! read more

My daughter started gymnastics with an amazing private coach during pandemic so I was definitely paying close attention where I was going to enroll her "for real" and RiSe has been an amazing experience! Now let me tell you about the real magic for me...my SON is the opposite of my daughter and I have been trying to get him motivated to be physical since birth. I don't like giving reviews as it takes time to write something that's valuable for other potential customers for a business but there needs to be changes to this place. For starters the instructors. It's a real crapshoot on who you get. A few are great while some should be fired. For example I'm writing this right now while watching the floor and one of the instructors has been sitting on her duff for the last 20 minutes shouting instructions to her class rather than engaging with the kids. This is gymnastics. Go help them with their form! I'm referring to the extremely skinny girl with the snake tattoo on her leg. She is consistently the laziest one here. I've seen other instructors that play on their phone and not even paying attention to their students. I've had one spend the first 10 minutes of the class showing the kids a funny YouTube video. I didn't pay for my kid to sit and watch YouTube!! Another example I've seen is complete lack of enthusiasm. Then there's also one of the male teachers with glasses that likes to perch on the obstacle course apparatus like Batman and just watch the kids rather than assist the kids. I've also heard the Asian male instructor telling my son he's a bad kid. WTF. As a parent if you come here, observe the instructor your kid gets. A few are good but most are pretty awful. Also a message to parents. If you're going to sit at the top level, don't take the front row seats if you're just going to be on your laptop the entire time. Don't be that a-hole that takes a seat from a parent that actually wants to watch their kids. Lastly... the only consistent positive thing is the facility is amazing. From ninja class, to gymnastics, to numerous camps they've attended, throwing both of their birthday parties here and now my daughter in the cheer program, we feel like it's family at this point. Rise gym is a large and spacious state of the art facility located in the South Bay. My kids having been taking Ninja classes at this gym for almost one year now. Ninja classes can help kids gain upper body strength and improve coordination. When you walk into the gym you are greeted with friendly front office staff who are always there to answer any questions or schedule make up classes. They have tables and chairs in front for parents to wait while watching the kids on the big screen. All of the coaches are very caring, patient and skilled in what they do. My daughter has been at RISE for about a year and a half. Sadly recently I made the decision to un-enroll her. Most of the coaches were great, my kids love Ms. Cindy who works at the counter. Her customer service is great and she's always respectful to us. The class was great too. It became a little bit outside of our family's price range. However, I do not think the price is unreasonable as the facility is nice and well kept, and insurance for gymnastics classes is definitely high priced. If it becomes something that our family can easily afford again I would re-enroll my kids. I have always had great customer service experiences and think the facility overall is great. read more

The gymnastics program is great but the cheer program not so much. The gym is clean and the gymnastics instructors are professional and really strive to help the students. The cheer program is all over the place which makes the students all over the place. They "wow" you by saying that they never lost a competition but if they were honest they are probably lower level competitions. The cheer coach Neda is super unprofessional with both the students and parents. If your child gets placed with her, you definitely want to put your helicopter mom radar on. Her experience has to come from watching the bring it on series in the early 2000s and now she thinks she's the teenage version of Abby Miller. She sets up a mean girl environment within the cheer program when the kids are really there to just have fun. I would find another cheer program in El segundo or Manhattan beach and just drive by Rise gym as they close for the day to watch Coach Neda put on her black hat and fly away on her broom... read more

Very expensive, always increasing rates for less services... took my son for the last few months, and you can see a noticeable decrease in instructor attention, always walking away from students, not helping them throughout the course, always seem very arrogant and not cheerful to the kids, like why are doing this job? I have two children attending this gym, one is on their competitive team and the other is taking rec classes. My younger daughter raves about her rec class and loves Coach Wren. She has been picking up new skills rapidly and getting robust training in gymnastic fundamentals. It is a nice balance of fun and learning. I cannot compliment this gym enough on their competitive program. Speaking of fundamentals, this gym is truly setting my older daughter up for a long gymnastics career by focusing on proper form, strength conditioning and providing an environment that values each athlete for their own individual strengths. The team size is purposely kept small which allows them to grow an athlete at their own pace. They do a wonderful job at setting these kids up for long-term success. We have been going to Rise Gym for a couple months. Blown away by the variety of classes, cleanliness and lead with kindness approach. More than anything, the coaches have been encouraging and beyond patient. I needed to give a shout out to coach Rae who has been the only reason my daughter can do this independently week after week. It's a constant struggle to get my daughter to participate but the coaches are patient, especially coach Rae. Even if she isn't coaching, she will make time to warm up with my daughter so she is comfortable and feels safe. No hidden agenda, just genuine want to support the confidence in my child. Took my 3 year old son for two classes. First class my wife took him. The person at front told her to wait there until class was ready. Then class started without him. No introduction to the school or teacher. Today a similar but much worse happened to me. i let the lady at front know this is my first time here. The lady at front said to wait there. she said she will introduce me to teachers and let us know when to get ready for class. She never showed me around or told me where to go or what to do. once class time came, i went into the gym. i asked a young man for my sons teacher. He said "shes over there.". he couldnt even be bothered to even point in her direction, let alone introduce us! so we continued to wait. i asked him again this time he pointed. the girl barely looked at us as she walked by and went back to class. my son by this point was too afraid to go into class and felt completely unwelcomed. Its very sad because we just moved here and my son has been in gymnastics for the past year, and used to love it before this gym. read more

I love the fact that the person whom I spoke to not only gave me all the necessary information about the placez they also, offered to give a tour of the a class and that's what was the winner for me. Alot of ppl are on the fence about committing so this was confidence and appeal to their market. They have a well lit gym. It's spacious, it has different areas for different skill sets ans exercises. They service kids of all genders, ages , shapes, races and sizes. They are fully staffed, the class size are small and intimate. The space has a viewing area both above and below (on a mega screen protector for parents who want to watch. There's snacks, beverages, souvenirs, and gym equipment for sale and open places for kids to put their belongings. I also enjoy that they give you 2 sessions to see if this is something for your kid The Bad: The part where they automatically bill your is a little abrasive. The Rise Gym is hands down the best facility for gymnastics, cheer, and ninja classes in the South Bay. It's clean, safe, and fun for my two children who have thrived under the instruction of the amazing instructors and great office staff. One of my kids does gymnastics and the other does ninja with coaches Andy and Alvin. There is also a large waiting area and mezzanine so parents can watch their kids. It's very clean and very safe for the kids. I have called and changed schedules a few times and everyone has been extremely friendly, professional, and accommodating. There are world class professionals here who are serious about their sport, but also know how to keep it light and enjoyable. You can see how the staff truly cares for each and every student. If you look at their Instagram, it is clear their pride and joy is their competitive team. In regards to their recreation classes, it really depends on the coach. Most of them seem patient and enjoy teaching the kids. There's a couple that look like they do not like their job. They're on their phones and one had their hoodie on during the entire class as if they were hungover. These certain coaches are far too serious for a recreation class. I don't think Ive ever seen them smile!! Children, especially ones who are new need positive reinforcement. They need to hire coaches who understand child psychology and have patience with kids and not just hire someone just because they can tumble. read more
