I'm sorry to have to write this review as I thought I'd be writing a 4-5-star review after having…read moresome work done by JAPT Construction. I contracted with Jorge @ JATP Construction in early April 2023, after finding his listing on Angi. I was having some indoor/outdoor electric work, replacing a tile floor in my shower, and updating the under-cabinets lights in my kitchen. When the work started, I thought I had found the service provider for getting work done in my home and even told Jorge it was the beginning of a long relationship and discussed some future work I was planning to have done with him. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that will be happening. Jorge started my work with a team of two men who very professionally did the electric work and shower floor installation but unfortunately after that work was done and I wasn't home on the last day of doing this my husband unknowingly paid the balance due on our contract - this was before the work in the kitchen cabinets was completed and also before I had to go over the finished work with Jorge and have some necessary corrections done. After weeks of reaching out to Jorge to get the cabinet lighting done and receiving false responses from him of, I'll do it next week, the lights haven't come in, I'll do it next week; we still do not have the job completed and it now appears as though Jorge is going to ghost my text messages to him. Very disappointing!

I've had to re-post this review a few times now ... somehow my negative reviews of Goldman Home…read moreImprovement keep vanishing from Google, Angi/Home Advisor and Yelp, leaving only 5-star reviews. I don't know how he does that, but I insist on re-posting because I feel you need to hear about my experience before deciding on something as important as a contractor for your home. For starters, Hussein Hussein of Goldman Home Improvement is NOT LICENSED to conduct home renovations in NY State. The license number he listed on his contract is not only expired; it was never a general contractor's license, it was a SALES license. NYS is cracking down on sales people pretending to be GC's, so his license will never be renewed. I urge you to call 311 and check for yourself if you are considering hiring this company. After working with him for almost 4 months I can attest: While Hussein clearly has a gift for sales (he could sell ocean water to a fish!), he lacks the basic knowledge of how a home works structurally; he's only capable of doing the surface aesthetic stuff. For example, I asked him to create tray ceilings in my bedrooms, and showed him many pictures of what a tray ceiling looks like. He removed the ceiling beams ... and then he obviously had no clue what to do next!! He kept staring at the ceiling, then looking at me, then back at the ceiling. Finally, he uttered: "There is no way to reinforce the beams. I cannot guarantee the ceiling will not fall in on you." I kid you not, these were his actual words!!! The contractor I hired to finish the job confirmed that, sure enough, had Hussein finalized my apt, the ceiling would have indeed buckled and fallen in!!! Additionally, Hussein could care less about the efficiency of your home (even though HE was the one who insisted I put in central AC instead of mini-splits, he refused to insulate the whole apartment, despite it being on my dime); he won't even consider doing anything that's out of the norm (I asked him to add soundproofing--again, at my expense--he absolutely refused); he uses the cheapest, unqualified trades (his plumber pitched the plumbing away from the drain, so the water has to travel against gravity!!!); and he uses only cheap materials (he works exclusively with Floor and Decor). When I hired Hussein to conduct a complete gut of my Brooklyn apt, I made the huge mistake of paying him a substantial portion up front ($50,000). After 3.5 months, he had not put in a new kitchen, new bathrooms, or new laundry room. He never replaced my floors, doors, windows or fireplace. He did not deliver central air conditioning as promised, nor did he upgrade my electric panel. He completed about 8% of the scope of work items outlined in the contract, but retained 45% of the payment, and refuses to refund me. My attorney tells me I have a solid case of breach of contract. Worse: THE FEW THINGS HUSSEIN COMPLETED WERE EXECUTED SO POORLY, IT ALL HAD TO BE DEMOLISHED AND RE-DONE. The tray ceiling had to be completely reconstructed and reinforced. The skylight he installed leaked heavily at the first rain, and had to be replaced. The hatch ladder he installed makes it impossible to access my roof -- the whole point of the ladder -- without being an olympic gymnast!! The walls he framed were wobbly. And Hussein instructed me to NOT tell the electrician -- the guy who was upgrading my electric panel -- that I'd be adding a washer, dryer, dishwasher, and air conditioning "because he will charge too much money". Seriously?? How does one upgrade the electrical panel without communicating ones electric needs to the electrician? When I confronted him on these issues, he reacted with mercurial temper--HE QUIT! So I was forced to bring in a qualified contractor mid-project to un-do all the damage Hussein had done and start over -- effectively DOUBLING my renovation budget and timeline! And now I'm mired in a lawsuit. Spare yourself the nightmare, go elsewhere!!

I am writing this to offer a different perspective for anyone considering Jerzy and CCSC. While…read moreother reviews mention quick turnarounds and "master craftsmanship," our experience was defined by a chronic pattern of over-promising and under-delivering that turned what was supposed to be a two-month project into an exhausting, expensive, six-month ordeal. Jerzy's initial charm masks significant issues with project management. We were frequently met with assurances that work would be finished "tomorrow" - commitments rarely kept, and a job culminating in shoddy finishing and a general lack of attention to detail, and an interminably incomplete punchlist. More concerning was the breakdown in professional standards. CCSC did work without approval, by either the architect or the client, including the installation of expensive equipment we explicitly didn't want - followed by an aggressive and unprofessional attitude and refusal to remove it, when we objected. By the end of the project, we didn't even want the myriad remaining issues fixed; we simply wanted the team out of our house. Their presence, coupled with the constant broken promises, were a tax on our peace of mind. If you value clear communication, adherence to a schedule, and a contractor who respects your vision, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

The very reason why they won the bid is the very reason why we are pleased with the results. We were looking for a dedicated crew, ability to deliver the project on time (co-op reno time constrictions), work with our architect, be our general contractor because we lived out of state... and the most important was to work with our new Co-Op community. On top of that, since this will be our last home, CCSC was tasked to make our dreams come true. This is our retirement phase, and we are so pleased with the finished product. The apartment is luxurious because of the plaster wall finish and their custom millwork! As CCSC owns their own millwork facility the milled doors and cabinets are stunningly substantial and up-scale in quality. A modern - old-world charm! CCS is very responsive and passionate about their work. Our assigned crew were master craftsmen and so caring about doing it correctly. We are very happy, and we have received so many compliments. If thinking of renovating CCSC was professional, skilled, efficient, and will work with you to create the living space of your dreams.

He put up some of the shelving in the bathrooms then said he ran out of anchors and that he'd be right back after he went to get some. Instead of coming back and finishing the work we hired him for, he texted to get more money (after quoting us a flat rate for the project) and said he wouldn't finish the job without being paid more. Since I had pulled ALL OF MY CLOTHES OUT of the closets in order to get the shelves done, we agreed, and then we Paypal'd him... and he never showed back up! Unreal. I called and he didn't answer, and texted to no response. He never texted back, never called back. On top of what kind of person does that, I also noticed that he didn't even screw in any of the screws into the shelves where they meet the brackets so they are not secured, and one bracket is upside down. So now I'm going to have to hire someone to fix his work, on top of hiring someone else to finish the job. Unbelievable. I'm pregnant and am trying to get my apartment unpacked. I pulled everything out of my closets today so that he could install shelving in there, and he didn't do any of those shelves before he left, even though I explained that to him. He only did a fraction of the shelves we hired him for (bathrooms only) and didn't even finish those so this is now a complete mess and we are out the $ we paid him for. Do not hire this person, he's a scammer with no conscience apparently and doesn't even do good work.
