Beautiful cozy new spot in Kennesaw. Has the complete speakeasy vibe with dark wood and almost a European feel. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The inside space isn't huge but there is enclosed patio/porch type space to extend capacity. Food was delicious and inventive. A really great addition to the area. The places has a nice vibe and feel. Wait staff is super attentive and helpful. Food was wonderful, takes some time but good food is worth the wait. I apologize for some of the pictures I forgot to take them before the food was devoured. The drink menu is expansive and the bartenders make great recommendations We had the Chicago shrimp and pretzel (this was served with whole grain mustard and cream cheese) For mains we had The Made Man the crust was soft and buttery, Al Capasta, The Bootlegger and of course the Chicago dogs. Everything was delicious. The Chicago dog was good. Ut lacking that neon green relish. But overall good The only downside was sitting in the patio or outdoor space. The lack of any tint ir shade cloth on the garage doors (that are all glass) made the room hot. We will definitely be going back to see if everything stays the same in a few months. read more

The atmosphere is similar to suburban. Not a lot of options for craft beer. (Just one) Inside bar was filled with dirty dishes that needed to be taken away on the bar. My husband and I rarely go out to eat these days. But a new place has been in the works for almost a year. My husband and other friends volunteer at SVdP thrift shop and witnessed the work on the building next door. It has been open several weeks so we wanted to give it a try. We went pretty late for lunch but they serve lunch until 3pm and we got there in time. It wasn't clear to us where the entry was.(on the street side instead of the front) On entering, there was no sign of a hostess. We peaked around the corner and saw 2 waitstaff and a bartender. They didn't greet us. There were two tables with four guests, eating and drinking. The waitress reluctantly gave us menus and said we could sit wherever we wanted. So we did. We read the menu and waited, and waited. Not a good vibe so we just got up and left, after sitting f or about 10 minutes. We walked down to Pisano's and got a hearty welcome. Our waitress, Jasmine, was as sweet as could be. We had a delightful lunch. And my husband left a generous tip as he always does. I cannot believe I am saying this but somebody in this town - like all Atlanta - got Chicago pizza right and they have completely underplayed it. My husband and I had been long time patrons of Subourbon that was here prior and were really looking forward to the new business after following the progress online. And wow! I came back for girls night last night and we had so much fun. We went in with zero expectations and knew it was still a soft open so much grace was needed. The entrance is at the front now rather than off to the side. The hostess booth is through a red phone booth into the main bar and restaurant area. It seems to be intentionally closed off for the "speakeasy vibe." The manager said that may change with a password of some kind to really lean into the theme. The colors were fun and bold, decorations were cute too. The red lights need to be tilted up a little so they aren't in your face once the sun goes down. There is a second bar on the outer ring of the restaurant so there was zero issue getting drinks. Food was a little slow, they were short staffed and figuring things out of course, so we just chilled and chatted with the server. Once the food came out we were thrilled. I love that salads have more protein options than typical shrimp or steak, I got prosciutto. The deep dish Chicago looked amazing, easily could be split by 2-3 people. And cocktails were great and big! For a specials night we thought they would be small, but we weren't disappointed. I got the strawberry smash and midnight raid (espresso martini). If you bring kids for any reason, I'd suggest sitting on the outer ring but not in center dining. We can't wait to come back to support the business and check out the live music! read more

Yesterday, we went to Prohibition Kennesaw, a new place in Kennesaw that is in the space formerly known as Subourbon. First, it is amazing how this place has been completely renovated. It has gone from a dive bar catering to 20 somethings and their smoking habits, to a dark, intimate speakeasy with no smoking. More tables and chairs, a huge chandelier in the center of the room, everything looked new from the outside to the inside. The setup basically remained the same as far as location of bars and tables, but the outside bar is much larger and fully stocked, the tables outside (a closed in patio) had white tablecloths, the whole place felt new. And yes, the bathrooms now have doors that actually lock, are clean, and have been renovated as well. Second, the drinks. Their drinks were actually reasonable priced. They had specials such as $4 Bloody Mary's and martini's, had a good menu of specialty drinks that ran from around $6 to $12, and have a good selection of different alcohols. Name brand bourbon ran $10. The one criticism, and it is not a major issue, was they WERE rather slow in the drink service. While I got my bourbon rather quickly, everyone else waited a little bit for their drinks (specialty drinks) and my brother in law waited for what seemed like forever for his Bloody Mary. But other than that, the bar was generous in it's pour and was not over priced. Third, the food. Although they had a very good looking brunch menu with some excellent breakfast items, we got the deep-dish pizza and it was delicious. I am not a pizza connoisseur, I just want it to taste good so I can't really say one way or the other if this is like some perfect pizza like you had back home in Jersey or Chicago or New York, but it WAS very tasty. Plus, while they are only about 10" pizzas (and about 2" - 3" thick), but I swear one slice and I was full, so you can definitely share the pizza with one or two other folks. $18 for the pizza. My sister had the pasta and said it was excellent as well. They had entrees on the menu such as salmon, shrimp and grits, among others, prices ran from $16 up to maybe $29. So a tad pricey, but not so pricey that this would have to be considered as a date night place. You can go there, have a couple of drinks and a meal, and with tip still get out of there for $60 or less for a couple. Fourth, the service. As mentioned earlier, the bar service was a tad slow, but as the drinks were really good that can be overlooked. Our server at the table was outstanding. Attentive, friendly, quick to be sure everything was to our liking, made recommendations, and was just a good person to have serving us. They do have events weekly, and live bands on Saturdays. The stage is still in the same place, but they finally removed that big DJ booth that took up part of the room. All in all, this is a place that we will likely go to at least semi-regularly. In my opinion one of the better places in Kennesaw to eat, drink, and enjoy good company. read more

My bestie and I have not been here since they reopened. And we just walked out since we we were ignored after walking in and sitting in the smoking section like we normally do. No one greeted us. Subourbon is your typical rough dive bar. Although I've seen some good bands on the weekends but the place is very smoky and seating is very tight everywhere. Drunk or high ppl stumbling around and being obnoxious. The restrooms are in a odd place near the stage. I've never tried the food because the place looks dirty and i can only imagine what the kitchen is like. read more

I'd like to preface this review by stating this place would get 5 stars if it wasn't for the behavior of the DJ. We flew in from DC and were coaching a baseball tournament at Lakepoint and we love a good dive spot so this place was recommended. The bartenders and staff are terrific-very friendly and work quickly. They have beer pong, pool, and despite my qualms with the DJ he actually mixed well(music was good). At one point I went up to him to request a song and he responded to me 'What the hell is wrong with you?! Don't you see I'm busy?!'--I was obviously taken back by this behavior and then asked why he responded like that. He snapped back saying 'You come up here wanting a song and you don't even think about tipping me?! You know what you're gone'. He then proceeded to get the bouncer and throw my friend and I out. I am a married guy in my late 30's and have never been treated like that, moreover ever been thrown out of a bar. Management needs to reconsider what kind of outsourcing they are doing. There are plenty of good DJ's that aren't jerkoffs like that guy. read more

I was hopeful to have found a place that serves oyster po'boys, but...it was awful. First, they don't take orders by phone, but assured me it would only take 3 minutes to make??? I went inside to order, no one greeted me or asked if I wanted to order. It's dark, closed in, dingy, full of smoke, and not a single person wearing a mask. The po'boy took 15 minutes to make and although their website says po'boys are $9.99, the menu inside says $13.99 and that's what i was charged. It was by far the worst sandwich, worst take out, and worst po'boy I've ever had in my life. I try not to judge a book by its cover but the food tastes like the place looks and smells. This is an absolute hidden gem within GA, let alone Kennesaw! If you love good oysters, good prices, AND well priced drinks! This is your place! The atmosphere is extremely laid back and very open! A great dive bar with a very friendly staff. They have live music too!! I'm here just enjoying mid-day me time, and it's awesome!! Live music, oysters, shrimp, great beer. Heaven.! No cover charge and the music has always been pretty good. I have had both the oysters and the shrimp several times and they are always excellent. I really love the shrimp. If you order domestic bottled beer like Bud Light or Yuengling the prices might be a touch high but not for some place with live music and no cover charge. I think most of those bottles are about $4. The real bargain is on the craft draft beer. $5 for a 16 ounce pint of Burnt Hickory Ezekiels Wheel pale ale is a great deal. $5 for a 16oz BHB Big Shanty Graham Cracker Stout is unheard of. Most places for that in a 11 ounce stemware glass for about $7. It is a cool new place that has only been open for a few weeks. I think they have a few speed bumps to work out but all in all it's a cool place to hang out read more

Essentially got told to f* off, for ordering two shots. So, there really is a first time for everything. Been frequenting SuBourbon's since I moved to Georgia 2 years ago. My girlfriend for 6 years. Never have I been so moved to leave a negative review until about 15 minutes ago. This is actually my first ever negative review. My girlfriend and I have a combined 11 years of serving / bartending between us. Neither of us have been treated as rudely as we were tonight by Jessica at the main bar. Decided to go out to celebrate my girlfriends birthday, checked TWO different bars, and then decided we wanted to spend the evening at SuBourbon. We walked to the main bar to start a tab, and in a celebratory manor we started with two lemon drop shots. When I ordered them Jessica looked at another employee and loudly said, "I wish everyone who ordered shots on a busy night, could bartend for a night." My girlfriend responded, "excuse me?" Jessica repeated herself and we informed her that we are both bartenders and understand how the industry works.... Now might be the time to mention she literally had three bar guests and maybe two service bar tickets, not what an industry vet would consider "busy." Regardless, she continued to be rude to us without any provocation, sarcastically repeating "happy birthday" to my girlfriend after another employee tried to lighten the mood. I was going to pay for the shots and leave, until she said "I don't need your money." There is never a reason to say that to a guest at your bar, especially one who intends to spend several hours incurring a large tab, and who cares about other folks in the industry. We've been at that bar when it's three rows of patrons deep and had far better service. It's very obvious why Jessica works Monday nights. read more
