Highlands bar... as a Cobb County 20-something I've been here quite a bit. Probably more than any other bar, actually. The prices here are amazing. Getting ripped off by Atlanta bars constantly drives me crazy. You go out for the night and after cover, drinks, and tips you're suddenly out $100. Highlands keeps its prices super cheap and I really appreciate that. I'm sure the college students do too, lol. The karaoke is awesome. They have some pretty great singers get up there. There is a drag show every first Friday. The DJs they have are good. The servers are courteous. In years past, some of the servers/bar tenders were idk a bit...brash? But that really seems to have changed. All of the servers have been pretty nice to my friends and I lately. If you order food- the fries are really good and so are the fried Oreos. If you come on a popular night (like the first Friday of the month), you gotta get there a little early if you want to secure a decent table. There is plenty of parking here. Never a cover (at least as far as I know). They have food and drink specials everyday. They typically are closed Sundays but are open on some holidays/for specific events. I want to say this is a typical dive bar but I would rather a dive bar than this. The Brunch burger was okay, you can make the same thing at home. The Mac and cheese was just Walmart brand Kraft Mac and cheese with bagged shredded cheese melted (not baked) on top. They drown most burgers in ranch and mayo. And the BLT was okay at best. And the wings were basic. The service was not worth tipping, the waitress was okay, she was basically the only one so she was busy most of the time. Needless to say, never going again. read more

First time here was yesterday. By far one of the worst managers there was the old lady with the raspy voice. Came up to my girlfriend and told her she was going to jail multiple times and acting tough the whole time because she typed in her id number incorrectly. After getting an awful stomach ache from drinking beer from dirty taps, I've decided to stop coming here. The drinks are super cheap so my expectations aren't super high but even so, I expect taps to be cleaned and everything to be up to health standard. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I know what clean vs dirty taps taste like and Highlands consistently does not do a good job cleaning theirs. This means you're drinking slime and mold. To me, this is always an indicator of how clean the restaurant is as a whole. Additionally, staff isn't wearing masks during COVID. Big yikes. There are so many cool new ~clean~ bars with staff following guidelines and I'll be giving them my business from now on. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. There were people throwing up in the bathrooms, smoking cigs inside the restaurant, and the servers are the rudest servers I've ever met. When I was eating my food I found 4 hairs, and on top of that, it was the worst food I've ever had. read more

Service was good but the food is overpriced and terrible. I got a philly chicken sandwich with bread that was so dry that it would suck up all the fluids in your body. I had to tear most of the bread off. There was no mayonnaise on the sandwich nor was any offered to me. I asked for some ranch to put on it and was charged for that. The server had only been there for a few days so I can't really blame her for the bad cooking or poor policies on condiments. How hard is it when making a grilled sandwich to butter the bun at least and grill or steam it? The laziness in this kitchen is inexcusable. Don't waste your money here read more

Wanted to support a bar I used to like during the pandemic but the bartender and manager didnt wear masks and tried multiple times to get us to remove ours. Treatment was beyond terrible. This is a pretty nice place with good food for a sports bar.. don't let the name fool you... It's more of a bar than a restaurant.. we got there when they opened so I'm pretty sure that our server was the owner... He was very nice an made sure we has everything we needed except for silverware. Lol we got sandwiches so we really didn't need it anyhow. Lol I got there brunch burger.. it was awesome.. perfectly fried egg on top of burger.. the burger itself, I bet it was a half pound.. it was huge and cooked perfectly.. came with thick cut fries... If there's anything to complain about, I guess it would be that it smells like beer an cigarettes inside but I kinda expect that when I eat at a bar an grill... Was told I had to take my mask off to order at the bar, while the bartender was not wearing one. And then was shamed for saying no. No staff were wearing masks, nothing was being wiped down. Unsafe and unprofessional. Absolute shame, and I will not be going back even when mask restrictions/guidelines are lifted just for how I was treated by this prick. read more

We have been many times now (more than 6). The Craft Beer selection is decent. Food has always been decent (good but not great) and consistent. That says a lot really. We tend to go weeknights or weekend afternoons. Place is never crazy busy and service always reasonable (KSU Students). I applaud the kids working and like to support them. Monday Burger Special is always a good value. We like the place for these reasons AND that you can get in, get a table, have a meal and not waste any time in the process. It's a large environment and none of this 20 to 30 minute wait nonsense, here. At least never when we have been. read more

This business may be closed on Sundays due to their poor drink sales/food sales ratio. You will see why when they over-pour for regulars, who start fights with non-management-favored guests, then the latter is thrown out. The management will and does routinely insult guest, despite the friendly staff whom they manage, especially after last call.. Most of this is well-known. You will also see cops there a lot, sometimes just walking in with their vest cameras, or just sitting in the parking lot, looking for drunk drivers. They would do better turning into a club to reduce the risk of underage drinking in this establishment. This venue is also smoking after 10, if you care about breathing. The food is horrid. 9:30 in the suburbs and our movie just let out. Starving. Where can we eat dinner? That's a tough one considering most of the places near the theater close at 9:30 or 10. I pulled out my handy, dandy yelp app to look for places that were currently open and would be open long enough for me to fill up my belly. Highlands Grill popped up near the top and wasn't a chain. Looks like Highlands Grill it is. The place was fairly busy when I walked in. It's seat yourself so I grabbed a table close to the big screen to watch some baseball. I didn't realize it at the time, but apparently they have karaoke on Thursday nights and my table was directly in front of the DJ and karaoke area. You can't hear anything once the music starts so you should probably stay away from this area on karaoke nights if you'd like to have a conversation. We ordered the frito pie to start. I really like frito pies. The frito to chili ratio for their version is off. Way too many fritos for the amount of chili you receive. You get a huge bowl of the stuff, but you're left with a lot of plain fritos at the end. It was decent. I also ordered the BLT with tater tots. There was tons of non-crispy bacon slices on the sandwich as well as tons of mayo. My favorite type of BLT! The music leading up to karaoke was very loud. It seemed like a lot of people are really into the karaoke there because there were a lot of people dropping off their song selections before the karaoke actually started. People chose a wide variety of songs - rock, R&B, country. We only stayed for a few songs before heading out. I will say that I was impressed that they actually had really up to date song selections based on the fact that someone was singing Stolen Dance by Milky Chance as I was walking out the door. read more

Aside from their bottled beer selection of almost 100 or so beers and 30 different beers on draft, Highlands Grille and Sports Tavern seems too familiar to the Taco Mac that it used to be. The restaurant is actually a former Taco Mac location, that was taken over by the owners in 2006 to become the less popular Highlands Grille and Tavern. The menu is almost exactly similar to the Taco Mac menu the location once had, except for the fact that the quality of the food has greatly diminished. The waiter service at Highlands is sub par to say the least. I remember the last time that I ate there I had to wait nearly 10 minutes to be assisted by the member of the staff. And then when I finally did receive some assistance it was only because I took the initiative and asked the distracted bartender if there were any waiters on duty. read more

But every-time we consistently get a horrid waitress who has no clue how to take care of a table. Came here with my friends on my birthday (July 6). We had a great time!!! Karaoke is ALWAYS awesome when Sarge is doing his thing. It was a rainy Saturday night, and it was packed. Our servers were sweet and efficient. We had a server in training, and that's always fun to me....hehehe ;) I razzed her a bit, but it was all in good fun. She kept the ashtrays clean, the water glasses filled, the table clean....she was becoming a full fledged waitron in front of our eyes. WOOOHOO!!! :) Yes, I did say ashtrays....so, if any of you do smoke, or only smoke when you imbibe (Me), then head on out to H.G. It's not smokey at all with the way they have the ventilation set up. So, even non-smokers shouldn't be bothered by smoke at all. ^5 My hub was a bit peckish, so he decided on the Garden Burger. It was awesome. I've never had one, and that surely wasn't my last bite. It came dressed, and had tater tots on the side. I would have preferred a salad, for sure. IDK why there's an up charge when you want one or more items removed from your order, only to substitute a small garden salad. Heck, I'll even give them the nasty raw onions back, too...LOL :D The karaoke singers were better than average, and my girl Tracy can belt 'em out with the best of them. It's a lot of fun when a great song is being sung, the entire bar singing along, and you're 2 1/2 sheets to the wind! I could have sworn Donna Summer was singing that night! The ladies room was very clean, and the overall appearance of H.G. appeared clean. H.G. is a fun place to go with a group of friends, and especially when Sarge is there with all of his "stuff." He's the master blaster when it comes to karaoke. His equipment is awesome, and you can tell just by how good people sound. He's always trying to get me to sing at all of the places he does karaoke. This place has changed names (and menus) several times since I started visiting in 2010 or 2011. Originally they were Highlands Grill -- one of my favorite spots to grab a drink and dinner after a long day. The best thing about the original Highlands Grill was its awesomely flexible burger menu: you could get any burger with a black bean patty, which is great for vegetarians like me. The second iteration of Highlands Grill was Bogey's, which was a step in the wrong direction. Bogey's menu was generally less appealing than it had been a year earlier with Highlands. More recently, the place changed its name back to Highlands. They brought back their veggie burger but don't have as many options as they did originally. The last time I went, I ordered their Jalapeno burger and asked if they could throw on a black bean pattie, and they brought me a generic veggie burger instead. Overall, the place has a decent atmosphere and is a safe bet for carnivores -- I just wish they would bring back their original variety of vegetarian options. read more

The chicken wings get ordered on mondays it seems. This was a friday I went in and ordered them and wow. They smelled. Even after frying them they were awful. This place is interesting, it def has a divey kind of atmosphere. Expect to reek or cigarettes. There is a lot of places to sit, from booths, table, and at the bar which is smack dab in the middle of the actual establishment. The staff was very friendly, but our waitress was a bit absentminded as she forgot one of our orders. She was entertaining however, as I think she had a few. We only had a couple of pitchers, from their specials (they had lots of those). Their bathrooms were a bit disheveled as a one of them was out of order, and the other one was kind of stopped. The third one was the only decent and functioning bathroom, but I was probably one of the last people to use TP. lol I will admit that despite its quirks, the place does have character. I was some what annoyed at the DJ they had as he kept talking and talking in an annoying manner....I think he was trying really hard to get laid though. The patrons were mostly students, probably from KSU if I had to guess, which made it a bit of a lively place. Two words: DINING PERKS How can you not love a place where you can eat and drink for half-off? Just get yourself some of those handy dining perk vouchers and sit back and enjoy the savings. Yep - this used to be a Taco Mac. The beer prices are decent and the waiters are consistent. The wings are pretty damn good and my favorite dish is the fish tacos. A couple of friends and I play trivia here occasionally. Their burgers are EXCELLENT! Also, if you like really, really hot buffalo wings, you must try their "death wings." They're some of the hottest wings I've ever had, but they taste so good! The waitstaff here have always been friendly and helpful, and they have decent prices on their draft beer. read more

It was late and we just checked into the HIE in the adjacent lot. My kids were famished so we walked over to get some food and a beer for dad. I was impressed by the beer selection! I ordered the 90 minute IPA on tap and pounded down the breakfast burger. I don't recall what the kids ordered but it was the perfect food and beer for the moment.
