I first met Darren when I was still working at a bank and he was doing the chair massage for us. When I subsequently got in a car accident, I didn't know anyone who was a massage therapist. Darren was who I called, and even now, though I live in London, I go back to Darren when I'm in Seattle. His methods aren't like any other that I've had before. I can't recommend Progressive Therapeutic Massage enough. Darren helps me immensely with my back and shoulder pain, and I'm not an easy customer. The deep tissue I need is hard work and many therapists have not been able to properly apply the right pressure or find the knots the way Darren has. My wife has vastly different pressure sensitivity and she also raves about the massages Darren gives, so he clearly adapts to the client's needs. The office is clean and professional with convenient parking right out front on the top of Queen Anne. The entire experience is well worth the price. After having visited four different massage therapists in Seattle, I had an appointment scheduled with Darren and ended up running about 15 minutes late because of unexpected traffic and Apple maps issues. He kindly let me reschedule with no penalty so I could get the full hour massage. When I showed up for my new appointment, he was cordial and even apologized for the trouble I had previously. During the massage, he spent a specific amount of time on my pain areas whereas most therapists I've found just do their routine and often neglect the areas that really hurt. My wife gifted me a 3 massage coupon from Amazon local. While I had initially looked at darrens calendar it was full I let it go for a couple of months. I then reached out to him and he mentioned he will honor the coupons even after they expire for the deal. Way to go Darien. My first appointment I did not know what to expect but Darren is the one of the best massage therapists I have ever met. He takes the time to listen to you, and finds the right spots and goes deep. I think it is unfair for people who use Groupon to assume that you will get same day / same week service. Do you realize that the provider gets only half of the deal money. Try getting a massage for 3 hours for 40$ on the same day anywhere. I liked the initial couple of massages from Darren so much that I became a regular customer. I purchased a Groupon to try this place. It did take months to get in as so many people must have purchased Groupons. I have been to so many masseuses throughout my life and Darren was one of the best. His place is quaint & he has skill that many masseuse lack. But, to be so demanding & critical of such a hands-on, one person operation is so Prima Donna. My first visit to Darren and I wanted to say I'm happy to return. His office was easy to find, it's relaxing, warm, well appointed and clean. Darren's demeanor is positive, gentle, and attentive; he's good about asking questions and listening, both to what I had to say as well as what my body was telling him. I was somewhat vague about what I wanted to focus on. I'm athletic and have used massage for IT band tightness and iliopsoas / hipflexor issues. While I mentioned the IT stuff, I asked for a more upper-body / back focus. Starting with my back, he found points needing attention that I had no idea were there, as well as some chronically painful places I didn't mention. His intuition and knowledge seemed to guide him from those spots in my back on down to my chronic deep core / IT spots. Additionally, there's only one other LMT I've seen who was able to dig as deeply into my tissue as Darren. If you're looking for injury prevention, repair, or simply some body work, I would highly recommend a visit to Darren. read more

I found Darren through Groupon. I like a deep tissue massage, and usually I have to tell the masseuse to increase the pressure, but Darren found that perfect pressure right away. I loved how he would massage two parts of my body at once, it really helped things release. I could tell that he wasn't just going through the motions but rather felt my body and musculature and let that guide him through my massage. It was honestly the best massage I have ever had. Darren is a wonderful massage therapist and an amazing person. He genuinely cares about his clients. Now that I have been consistently receiving massages from him for a period of time I truly look forward to catching up with him like a true friend. He is super cool and just has an all around great disposition. He is very, very flexible with his schedule. I have had to cancel and/or reschedule an appointment and am able to do so without any problem. But, I try not to take advantage of that too often. He does run his own business...On that note. I see there are just a few negative reviews about Darren. These are due to scheduling issues. I agree wholeheartedly with Penny S's review about small businesses and such.
