The team of Jordan, DJ, Jesus and all their staff have been awesome to work with. They were very responsive to all of our requests and had some great ideas to add in order to provide us with our dream backyard. Jordan was our initial contact. He was very responsive, punctual and professional. He told us some things that they could do that others said could not be done. And they delivered. My wife was very impressed with his ideas. That evening, we decided we're going with this company. They started about a week earlier than anticipated. We started working with DJ at this point along with Jesus and his crew. All the staff respected our property. They worked hard staying on track. DJ kept us updated each step of the way and was on-site several times during the week if not almost daily to check in on progress and keep us updated on what was going on or what the next steps were. At the completion of the project which included a mini remodel of our pool (tile change, new decking, etc), an outdoor fireplace, and outdoor kitchen, new patio cover, all new concrete patio and walkways, new plants, trees, irrigation, drainage and lights, we were ecstatic with the finished project. The estimate for the project was what we expected with no surprises. We did go slightly over budget but that was our fault for adding features as we progressed. We moved to EDH in 2020 and decided to rip out the entire backyard (which was grass and concrete) and replace with a pool, firepit, outdoor bbq and a turf area.. We called Progressive and worked very closely with Jordan, DJ and Jerod. They did a fantastic job. Even during the prime of covid, they were able to finish our project in a timely manner and were excellent communicators. Jordan worked with us in the beginning and spent many hours with us on Zoom building our backyard with his programs on the computer. His knowledge of structural engineering was excellent and he knew exactly how to build our multi platformed yard in a way that would look great, and would stand the test of time. Once the project was finished, the rendering he designed for us looked in the very beginning looked identical to the finished project. I would recommend this team for all your pool, fire pit, landscapes, etc. 10/10. They were great to work with. read more

The only reason I am giving Progressive 1 star is I ultimately like our pool in general but where to begin.... If you would like an honest review or more detailed information, feel free to message me. I would never recommend hiring a pool company and suggest an owner build. Project manage your own build and hire your own people. I was warned about installing a pool due to others experiences with pool builders. Now I know why. In short of it DONT DO IT. From the get go there were some red flags especially with communication but I remained optimistic. I fell victim to false promises, undeliverables, poor communication, poor organization and project management, lack of quality control, lack of accountability... and overall, blinded by the excitement of a new pool and thinking "hey they seem cool and no bs type, I will go with them". Lesson learned. Our salt water pool was completed in the beginning of July and since then, we have not had a salt water pool due to improper wiring of the equipment which fried the computer system. There were good and bad contractors throughout the process. Initial designer seemed cool to work with but after we signed the contract, we were paired with someone else and a lot of information was lost in translation or not shared at all with those who were involved in the process. So disappointing that we felt confident in our decision to proceed with Progressive but ultimately feel underwhelmed and frustrated. Poorly run and managed company from our experience. So unfortunate because pictures of work they have done were so impressive. Left us scratching our head like.... Did they really construct those? Did we just get in at a bad time when they were facing issues as a company. Either way, so displeased and angered. We have a pool which was the goal! But now cleaning up some of the messes and remedying issues when we should be enjoying our new pool (irrigation issues, equipment failure, displeasure with quality/workmanship). read more

We hired Progressive Landscapes earlier this year to install new landscaping in our front and backyards, new hardscape in our backyard and a new pool. The design process went great and the work started within a month of signing our contract. The total cost was higher than all of the local landscape contractors but we were told they do quality work. Construction went well for the most part with some things having to be addressed but overall they executed and finished almost the entire install around mid-June. However since then, the owner DJ has been unresponsive, unreliable and has failed to close out our contract. We ended up asking to cancel the rest of our contract and taking on the rest of the work ourselves as well as our punch list work. We still have not heard from DJ in the last 3 months to close out our contract and move on. The experience of closing out our project has turned our experience from great to poor as to why I am rating Progressive Landscapes a one star. They do quality work and if you are lucky, they don't have any projects going on, they can take care of your project fast which we were fortunate that our project was the only one on their plate. However, the communication is the worst ever and they are unreliable when you need them most. Do NOT hire Progressive as you will be disappointed overall. read more

Good work and nice people, but I made the mistake of not holding back a contract retention. Now that they have paid in full, I can't get them to respond to my request to fix punch list items like dead plants, poor sod installation and clean up of outdoor kitchen work. This is disappointing and may indicate business integrity issues. If entering into contract, arrange for retention hold back. read more

I was staying at my parents' house for a couple days while they were getting some backyard work done by Progressive Landscapes. They were thrilled with the outcome, and I was quite impressed as well! Since they don't have a Yelp account, and I'm a Yelp Jedi, I decided to post a review myself. My dad is a big time do-it-yourselfer. And he's really good too: part anal retentive engineer, part handyman extraordinaire. So for him to hire someone to do something that HE could do himself is rare. But when he decided to add pavers to a few spots in his backyard, but didn't want to spend every weekend for 2 months working on it, he started calling around. Most places he called didn't even show up for their appointment for an estimate. Progressive was there on time and gave an immediate quote for a very fair price, and they could start (and finish) the project quickly. The work was done very well. The project was finished ahead of schedule. The yard was cleaned up afterwards. The price was good. And the owner himself came out to inspect it during and after the project. It was a difficult area involving a lot of cutting and fitting of pavers into rounded edges. It looks fantastic! I was skeptical when I heard the idea, but it came out looking great! The people are polite, professional, and punctual, and they do great work at a very fair price. When I decide to landscape my own yard, I will definitely call Progressive to help us out too! read more

I didn't appreciate being woke up early on my day off by an insistent crew that I had to prove to them I didn't even have what they wanted to work on at my property even though I told them I have never used the company they claimed sent them. From the very first appointment we had with Don, who came to discuss our plans to landscape our back yard and build a dog run, we were impressed with the professionalism of Progressive Landscape. We had a few other bids but felt like Progressive was so responsive and easy to work with, that we agreed to work with them right away. We loved Don's ideas and couldn't be happier with the results. We were pleased that they were able to start a few weeks earlier then we had originally been told. We can not say enough about Jesus and his crew. They were always on time and were great at communicating with us every step of the way. They were the hardest working crew we have ever seen and they were very efficient. When they finished each day, they cleaned up the area and even used the leaf blower to leave our front and side yard looking tidy. We are so happy with how everything turned out. Now I love looking out my window and seeing my paver patio, landscaping, and new hog wire fencing. The dog area is exactly what we had envisioned. It is so refreshing now days to work with a company that is so easy to work with, care about their work, do high quality work etc etc etc. We chose Progressive Landscape to begin with because their presentation was so professional. Their landscape plan for the front yard was exactly what we wanted. They came in on schedule and did a wonderful job. The communication between us was great and they answered all questions quickly. This was for a rental and I live out of town and wish they serviced my area. Will not hesitate in calling them when we are ready to do the backyard. We recently gutted almost our entire backyard to put in a pool and decking in our backyard in Folsom, and with a bit of hopeful trepidation that this would be a true El Nino winter, we wanted to find a landscaping company that would be able to help us with our design and installation before the storms began, as we had dirt around the pool and no drainage yet. After doing my due diligence on potential contractors, in the end we chose to go with Progressive Landscapes, and couldn't have been happier for our choice. It really started with some very candid and fruitful conversations and email exchanges with Clayton, their designer, regarding budget and goals. He was very helpful in helping to refine our rough ideas, and working within the confines of our space, budget and HOA rules. In the end, we had to defer on just a couple of things to stay within our budget, including the outdoor kitchen. Clayton was able to turn around final plans so we could submit them for our HOA approval meeting in just a couple of days, based on changes we made over email and text, as I was out of town. Everything was approved the first time around and then work started almost the next day! Once work started, they worked like crazy and in the end were done on time and on budget. The owner, Don was onsite almost daily, and made sure things went according to plan. Very easy to work with both Don and Clayton, and when the job was both in progress and just completed, the little tweaks that came up were taken care of painlessly. We are very happy with how our backyard landscaping turned out, including the dog run they did on our side yard, as well as the plantings they selected throughout the backyard and courtyard. When it is time to build our outdoor kitchen, they will most definitely be on the list of contractors to consider for the work, based on the excellent job they did for us already, at a very fair price. I also contacted them through their Facebook page, but all I received was a generic message saying that they will "reach out as soon as possible." However, I never heard back from them. If you are looking for someone to do your outdoor project, stop looking and call Progressive. They are the very best we have ever worked with! We have been in our home 18 years and have had 4 major backyard projects in that time (swimming pool and then some other hardscape type work). We used Progressive Landscape this time to build an outdoor living area, and their work and approach is night and day from the other contractors we used (at least one of those contractors is probably someone you are considering if you are using Yelp to search, by the way). For all of the other projects, the people working on the project, while diligent in their work, were left completely on their own by Ownership. If you wanted to get the owner, it would take a day or two to call back and then another few days if you wanted them to come out and look at something. The major difference with Progressive is that the Owner came to our house 3-4 times every single day to check on the work, provide direction to the guys, ask us how we liked everything etc. If you are looking for someone to do a project for you, especially if this is your first major project, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to use a company where the Owner is accessible. Our project was essentially building a raised patio with an outdoor fireplace. There was a lot of rock work and Don and DJ (the owners) were very helpful and patient as we picked the different stones for the floor, walls and fireplace. When it came down to the work, Enrique did most of the stone work, and he was unbelievable. He would lay out maybe 20 stones on the ground, and then try each one of them in the spot he needed to fill to figure out which one fit the best. He repeated that over and over and the results are phenomenal and better than we could have hoped for. It was literally like he was working on his own house. Enrique and all of the other guys were super-professional, respectful of our property, etc. Again, if you are using Yelp to pick, we have used one of the other companies with pretty high ratings and Progressive was 1000x better. It is so important to actually have Owner's who care about doing a great job for you. You can tell they are very proud of the work they do and want it to be just right. I can't recommend Progressive any more highly. Do yourself a favor and hire these guys...you won't be sorry. read more

From start to finish, Don Devorss and his crew were professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Our project consisted of the design and installation of a big paver brick patio, keystone retaining wall, a very large outdoor kitchen/bar, and a gas fire pit. I will say that the customer/contractor relationship can be contentious. With that said, I was very happy with the work that Don and Progressive Landscapes did for me. I had them do a complete overhaul of a small backyard to better fit in with our pool and other backyard fixtures. Don was able to capture my vision perfectly and turn an old area of grass, old rocks, and old water lines, into a small little paradise. Progressive Landscapes, Don and crew, did an amazing job on backyard, and this was no small task. My co-worker recommended him to me and I am so glad he did! Don and his crew installed five seating/retaining walls a very large stamped concrete patio with walkways and stairs, grading, vegetation removal, fence removal and replacement, irrigation.... He checked in with us several times before the project started to make sure we were all on the same page and even took us to see a few projects he worked on. During the project he checked in with us all the time to make sure we were happy with how things were turning out. If we wanted something changed, he was extremely accommodating. If he had a subcontractor working he would still come and make sure everything was being done properly and that we were happy (even if this meant coming over on the weekend or in the evening). Don is very easy to work with; he knew we couldn't do everything we wanted to do at once so he helped us come up with a phased approach. We will be having him back to build us a backyard bbq and to put a seating wall in our front yard - we can't wait. We are so pleased with our backyard that we told Don he could bring potential clients over to see it. read more
