Photo of Michael Williams Michael Williams…read more just now I was helped by both locations: Cindee Towns at 1344 E. 55th Street Chicago, IL., 60615 and Michael Delegatto at:17859 Bretz Dr. Homewood, IL., 60430 First, I want to thank the Illinois Cremation Society for all of their help and assistance in taking great care and concern for my mom, Nellie Ruth Thompson during the last 4 weeks. On April 19, 2023, Mom made her transition to being with the Lord out at the Prairie Manor Rehabilitation & Healthcare Nursing Home at 4:10 am. I was called by the Nursing Home at 5:10 am. After I arrived at the home I was confronted by her on-duty nurse Ruby who was very gracious to me. We both worked through the red tape together for this was her first time experiencing a situation such as this. I reached out to the society and I was transferred to a Tarra who began the process and she walked both of us through what to do. Thank you to Tarra with the society. We got mom from the Nursing home to the Homewood location with the help of Pastor Benjamin "Ben" Wind who took my mom to the Homewood IL location to be placed in the morgue freezer. After that, I did not really have to do much more but finalize all arrangements and payments and walk through the final process. Our family requested a Viewing and on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, after all was complete we said our last goodbyes to Mom. Everyone out at the Homewood IL, location was just outstanding. A special Thanks to funeral Director Michael Delegatto and his team for outstanding work with made our family feel pleased with Mom for she looked like she was sleeping. With the clothing that I choose and the makeup, Mom was beautiful! Last but not least, the team member to whom I will give the most praise and credit is Ms. Cindee Towns, who works out of the Hyde Park 55th Street, location. Man, I do not know what I would have done with her. From day one when Mom told her 5 years ago what she wanted and how until today when I picked up mom final remains inside the urn she picked out. Cindee was with me every step of the way. She guided and lead me through this difficult time and kept me encouraged to know I was doing everything correctly. Cindee met the rest of my family at the Viewing and spoke with each of us with words of kindness and sympathy. She maintained consistency throughout the entire process up until today May 10, 2023. Cindee Towns you are the greatest and our family THANK U! "Excellent Customer Service Award". "CINDEE TOWNS!" The Family of Nellie Ruth Thompson Thanks the Illinois Cremation Society! It truly pains me to write this review but I do it with the sincere hope that the owners will use…read morethis feedback to improve their service in all areas. I was in town to help a family member complete the arrangements for her mother's funeral. Staff was told multiple times that we had not planned a funeral sevice before. But, from the 1st meeting that I attended I got an uneasy feeling about the level of service she'd receive. There is no continuity of care with staff. Too many different people to deal with when you're grief stricken. This resulted in fractured or downright miscommunication. Timelines were unclear adding to stress. Questions we had were often meant with blank stares. I could write a book about everything that went wrong or was mishandled but don'thave that kind of time. Suffice it to say, this business needs to level up their front-office professionalism and processes. They need to understand that families are grieving and at their weakest point. And, just because someone has attended funerals that doesn't mean they know the ins and outs of planning. This is THEIR business. It should run like a well-oiled machine. Now for the positive. Although the obituary needed a lot of re-work over 2 days the printer (who we had to insist on speaking wirh directly) was easy to work with and went above and beyond to get it right once she understood what was needed. She is the reason I'm adding a star. Otherwise it would be 1 star.

We discovered the stain and they refused to pay the expedited shipping fee because they said it was too much. The services was the next morning and they gave me their word they could replicate the design on it. I found out the day of the services they did not put the correct design on the back panel. I was devastated! The obituary was terrible. It looked unprofessional and we followed exact guidelines to get it done on time. I spent days working with the printer to get the obituary the way we wanted it. We missed the first hour to see my mom dealing with the printer. They were unorganized and we spent all of our time trying to get things done rather than grieving for my mom. I would not recommend Calahan Fineral Home. I am still devastated at what we went through dealing with them.

I give high praise to Cage Memorial. In 2023 they handled my mother's funeral service, navigating a…read morecomplex process. She lived in Atlanta, GA with a family member, until her death. Then we had her remains sent back to Chicago for interment. Cage Memorial worked with a local Atlanta funeral home to bring our mother home to Chicago and then arrange the usual and customary funeral arrangements. They were patient in dealing with our small family and navigating the requests of the three family members involved in making the arrangements. In 2025 our family decided to move our grandmother from a remote south side Chicago cemetary to the same location as her children. Yet again, this was a complex process, requiring special permits from the city and coordinating with the original cemetary to move our grandmother. These transfers only take place May to September, just to complicate things even further. Cage was so professional in their handling of the challenges in this process. They kept things simple for the family who do not live in Chicago, communicating via text, email and offering digital documents for signature. The family couldn't be there on the day of transfer, but Cage kindly took photos of the procedure. I have the highest regard for Cage Memorial and recommend them for you funerary needs. The quality of care and value of their service was high.

They were both very empathetic to my loss and spoke in a way that relaxed us during our meetings with them. Most important, my mother looked amazing. No heavy makeup or heavy lipstick. Mom looked just like herself and her clothes and church hat fit perfectly. The staff were very professional during the visitation and service, to include the limousine driver. Plus, the Cage facility is beautiful with ample parking. I highly recommend Cage to care for your loved one and your family.
