I wish I could give a negative 5 star rating. Extremely poor customer service. Called to have rental verification of my tenancy for applying to another leasing company and could not get anyone to assist me with this process. I've made multiple attempts calling with the same request and each time they blatantly refused to provide any assistance beyond what is printed on their script and what they have been programmed to say. Not to mention the countless other items I've tried to have addressed during my time renting from them. When I first moved in my move-in date was postponed, because they claimed new flooring being installed. Upon moving in, there was not any new flooring and no one could explain to me (or wanted to explain) the cause of the misinformation. There are no local representatives to speak with. Only a switchboard stationed at a call center in a different state. No one with this company is interested in helping their tenants in any capacity. Progress Residential is the hardest company to contact. I call them, and I get rerouted to 3 times before being hung up on. I leave messages that go unreturned. Today, I've been on hold for 2 hours. I need to speak with someone. The first hour I spent on hold to be hung up on at exactly 1 hour. I'm on hold right now, and it's been 54 minutes. The average hold time was said to be 27 minutes. It's always at least 45 before someone answers you. They say to send an email, but the department that handles the email tells you to call. I finally got someone on the phone about the Fresh Start program, and the requirements are different from what the email detailed. I'm in a really bad position, but Progress made this year really difficult with a lack of communication. read more

When we first moved into our rental home over a year ago our gas fireplace didn't work . they sent a man to come out and fix it about a week after we moved in . He took a part out of it and said he would be back in a couple days to put a new one in . Over a year later and nobody has came back to fix our fireplace . I put in a service request to get our floor fixed and they kept cancelling it without telling me why . I emailed them asking them why they keep cancelling it and I never got a reply . Now about 3 days ago I submitted a service request for our furnace not working properly. I have never gotten a call or even an email . Very poor customer service . Our air conditioner went out on Friday, June 24th. We called immediately that day the very first thing it says on there service line is if your air conditioning is out your heat water pipes broke so on so forth this is considered an emergency situation when the temperatures are extremely high or low. Well in Indiana it has been anywhere from 88 to 95° for the last two weeks. After the first service call someone came out looked at it on Monday so they'd be back Tuesday came back Tuesday and said the whole unit needs replaced. The gentleman who came said he would submit a quote to progress residential to get any unit placed in Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday has went by and we have heard nothing. I tried calling the office and was transferred to a customer Caroline which I held on for 39 minutes with no answer so I use the immediate chat and the person that I spoke with the immediate chat pretty much told me that it was out of progress residential's hands at this point they are waiting on a quote and told me to follow up with the gentleman who supposed to do the quote. The thing is I love our house I love being here we've had no issues it's a great location everything has just been wonderful but two weeks without air conditioning and still have no idea when it's going to be replaced is ridiculous. We did get a call after I called the service line again and spoke with a woman who was apparently a Answering Service and to be honest she is the only one who showed any kind of care or compassion that we are having this issue. You can't get a hold of anybody with progress the only time you do is when they want to renew your lease and that's all done via email which is good but it is over 100° in our house especially today when the high temp was 95 outside. Great houses great neighborhoods horrible customer service. We had a gentleman that actually came out on July 4 which I thought was really odd to measure our current unit but have not heard anything back since so hopefully a new system is coming soon. The first gentleman we spoke with said that we could stay at a hotel and that we would be reimbursed for the nights that we have to stay however I don't know how true that is and I'm not taking any chances. Just wish that they were more customer service friendly and able to give us answers or at least estimated time. read more

This company is an absolute joke! Because of this COVID Virus and the government shutting down businesses, my 6 1/2 month pregnant fiancé was just laid off all three of her jobs yesterday. I have called twice today and both people I spoke to refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor and were rude. They are not waiving rent payments and could not tell me if we were going to be evicted or not. Add more stress to our lives! Don't expect them to update notes for work orders. I've been waiting over a month for my third dishwasher at my house since moving in 16 months ago. They also gave us a fridge equipped to make ice but did not install a water line to it. Over a year later and they keep sending people out that just tell us the fridge isn't hooked up to a water line (we know this...). Still, no water line or fridge replacement (we don't want an ice box taking up freezer space if we can't make ice). After the first year they raised our rent $200/month and still shrug you off if you call them for any assistance. They also delayed our move in date the DAY before we were supposed to move in, but our past lease was already over, leaving us homeless for a week. Their excuse was that I had not inspected the home although I had tried to schedule an appointment to do so. read more

Please stay away from this company when you are considering renting a home. They do nothing to maintain their properties. When we moved in, there was damage all over the place. We were not allowed to do a pre move in inspection. The interior and exterior were disgusting and dirty. There was grease on the top of the ceiling fan blades , the door to the garage looked like a bear had tried to break in, there was paint all over the floor, the yard was unkempt, the gutters were clogged, the appliance bulbs were burned out, the hot water heater was broken, (I got charged for water and gas that was being used because of this). They will then turn around at the end of your lease and charge you for the damage. They use a third party billing company to for your utilities because evidently the people who rent from them are irresponsible and can't pay there own utility bills, (and this third party billing company charges the tenant for the service). If you are considering relocating to the indianapolus area, PLEASE think twice about leasing from Prigress Residential. You will regret it if you lease from them. I have lived in multiple states while transferring from one VA facility to the next VA facility and never encountered such incompetence from a property management company. Basically, Progress is a slumlord company that chooses not to take care of their properties and try to pass off all maintenance charges to the residents. My wife and I made numerous work order requests and it took multiple emails and calls to get issues corrected that were not our responsibility especially a leak in the roof that led to the formation mold which at first they tried painting over, a leaking water heating unit that they tried not fixing but luckily a knowledgeable plumber was able to convince them to replace along with a myriad of other issues they tried not to fix. Honestly , if I could give zero stars I would have. This company is extremely careless, non responsive, and unprofessional. We communicated back and forth for 2 months after placing a holding fee on a home. Our leasing agent was changed 3 times , 2 of those times with us not being notified . Our current lease is up 7/1. We put on our application for our move in date to be 6/26. We have yet to receive a code to see the inside of the house and even up until today 6/30, they are still claiming the house isn't finished and we will be able to view it next Wednesday (7/5). Our calls were ignored when we wanted to know when the house would be done. We were given the run around on multiple occasions after going into the actual leasing office and speaking with "managers" who claimed everything was getting finalized and "looking great" and we would get into our new home soon. We explained to the office that if we wouldn't have been productive and found a Plan B, and went with another renting agency, that we literally would be homeless at the moment. I don't recommend anybody to go through Progress . Save yourself the trouble and stress. read more

I've been a renter for a couple of decades with good and not so good experiences and can say with the upmost confidence this company is the worst property management group by far. I should have known something was amiss when the guy showed up for my pre-inspection walk thru at the wrong time and then tried to make it seem like I was the one in the wrong. Way too many negatives to list, but they want all your money and in return they spend as little as possible on the property. Nothing was cleaned prior to me moving in, however if I don't professionally clean the place upon moving out I get charged $$$. They give a laundry list of items you as the renter are in charge of maintaining and leave only the most major issues as their responsibility, but even major issues such as water leaks are not a priority to fix. I've had a toilet leaking for months now and the plumbers came out to cut a hole in the ceiling and I guess they thought that solved the problem. That was weeks ago and I still have a leak and also a nice large hole. Good luck trying to get in touch with an actual person and if you do the odds are even less you will be satisfied with that. It really is a scam and they are simply looking to take as much money from the renter as possible. Slumlords come to mind when I think of this company. In conclusion if I could give negative stars I would and it is partially my fault for not researching this company prior to signing the lease.If you come across a property for rent and Progress Residential is the management company I would highly recommend skipping it and checking out other properties. If you do decide to rent with them I would document everything. Save all emails and phone calls and take pictures of every inch of the property prior to moving in and after you move out. My experience with progress residential has been far from nice. I applied with the company and was approved. I was told multiple times how I needed to pay my deposit right then and there or I lose the home when I wasn't close to my move in date. I was working with someone from the local office whom explained to me that my deposit wasn't due until 24-hours before I moved in. This is the first thing that rubbed me the wrong way. Next, the customer service is sub-par and extremely disappointing. You call the 800 number expecting to speak to someone locally or that actual knows what they are talking about. Each time I called I spoke to different people and everyone a had different answers to my questions; questions I had to ask multiple times in multiple way to try and get a simple answer. I never felt like it should be so difficult to get answers for simple requests and questions. I had to deal with wasps in the home shortly after I moved in during the warmer months due to rotting wood on the back of the home. I called Progress Residential multiple times to get answers and someone to come out and figure out why there were wasps in the home. I was told "it's not their responsibility. Pest control is now my problem" so I had to have someone come out and figure out what the issue was. It was due to the rotting wood. So I called back and told them what was going on with THEIR property and they sent someone out who half-assed the work and did a terrible patch job with the wood. Another issue is that when I moved in the carpet was disgusting and I could clearly see that the previous residents had blonde hair and animal hair all over the home. I called multiple times about that as well and they had someone come out and clean the carpets. It was extremely INCONVENIENT to have this done after I had already moved in. It was extremely uncomfortable and frustrating to have to move everything around and walk around with carpet that is wet. No apologies or acknowledgement of the inconvenience from Progress Residential. Fast forward to move pre-move out inspection, I worked with someone in the local office and he was very surprised of the home being in great condition. I was told he was expecting it to be pretty bad and that I shouldn't look forward to getting all of my deposit back. His exact words were "They'll find something to charge you for, even if the home is in perfect condition" I was taken aback but thankful he was completely honest with me. I asked him about being at the move out walk through and he told me the company usually wants the residents to be deterred from coming to the walk through after moving out. I was advised to take pictures and record everything in the home so that I'll have proof of how I left the home. I was was not able to attend the walk through after turning the keys back over because it was never conveniently scheduled for me. I went online and checked my account and I saw that out of a $1240 deposit over $800 of it was kept. Mind you, the home had to be professionally cleaned and the carpets had to be shampooed as well. I do not have pets or children so I had all of that done. It was not with one of their preferred vendors which they kept trying to shove down my throat and I left the receipt, my proof of what was down, on the counter as instructed. The company tried extremely hard not to give you anything back from your deposit. All of the other reviews listed are very true. My house was turned over in better condition than I received it. I am extremely disappointed in the fact that I was charged for carpet cleaning, having the home cleaned, and a window screen replacement--what the hell would I do with a window screen anyway? All window screens were left in tact, I got charged for paint after being told I only had to fill in holes not paint the hole house. I do not agree with why I was charged being that I have proof of what was done to the home (cleaning). Do not rent from this company. It's not worth it. read more

I paid 2 application fees for the second time for me and my son the first time I lost the application fee was due to them, not doing their job finding out that they do not know how to work with section 8 voucher people so I lost the application fee. I did it a second time and just because they failed to send my son that identification email they canceled my application and kept the money and finally return my holding feet they did not send the email and I told them several times, but they would not listen. This is hands down the WORST company to rent through...stay away!! The house was bought from another rental company right before we rented it so it doesn't have the paint/carpet/flooring that is in all of their houses, it was not cleaned, the cheap carpet comes up when you vacuum, the paint on the walls don't match, electrical issues, don't get me started on the ant problem or the other issues. We have called, emailed, put in work orders and nothing gets accomplished. Our rent was increased without the long list of items getting fixed...No one bothers to reply. The company charges $8 monthly for utilities and gives you a list of utilities due - but you can't get an actual bill from the companies providing the services to verify if it's correct. We were told that everything was electrical in the house, and that we didn't have any gas (that is the only utility we have outside of progress) and guess what, we have gas which is fairly high for this small house) I contacted the trash company to find out that we're paying for trash removal ($15 monthly) but Progress residential doesn't have an account for our address, according to the trash company. I'm sure we're getting overcharged for utilities but no way to prove it. We pay for our own pest control service since they will not take care of the problem that was present (and documented) prior to us moving in. I guarantee that this horrible company will keep our security deposit - which was higher than everywhere else - when we move out. We sold our house (earlier than anticipated) and we are moving out of state, so we're sticking it out until it's time to move. When I say I'm counting down, I truly can not wait to be done with this scam of a company. The real estate agent(s) that showed us the house made promises, the company made promises and nothing has been true yet. I should have followed my gut and went with one of the other houses we looked at. The only good thing is that we have amazing neighbors. When I say stay away - stay away - run away! read more

I have been with this company for over three years and made it through the pandemic without work for three months being in my profession I couldn't legally work with covid. However I still made it and I've recent hurt my back and had car problems literally two weeks back to back which has made me late. I have a child who does in home therapy bc he suffers from bipolar disorder and I myself have cptsd which because of those two things alone her lack of compassion and absolute unprofessionalism has me so upset and sick to my stomach. I have been working so hard as a single mother to get my son amd I into our own home and for this lady to behave this way is absolutely disgusting. This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Not even worst rental company.. just company period. They don't return emails or phone calls... you also are put on hold for 20-45 minutes every time you call. I waited 6 weeks for my AC to get fixed, 3 days for my heater to get fixed and that's only because I called every day. We also got an email 5 of out the 12 months we were there saying we did not pay our rent. After multiple attempts to call and email... they figured out we had already paid.... every time. They tried to give us a late fee for not paying the last two months of our rent 2 months EARLY, along with an estimated amount for our utilities! Without any notice!!!!! We only didn't get charged because we had been over paying on purpose every month. The small ranch style house had a 500$/month electric bill. I now live in a bigger house where everything is electric and the bill is a fifth of that. Oh and you also had to pay them to pay your utilities. The move out requirements are outrageous. I haven't heard back about my move out yet, but they said if ONE thing was dirty, they would charge $1/square foot of the whole house to clean it and $50 per wall if the nail holes that were filled in weren't painted over with the exact paint.... when they didn't leave us the correct color of paint. On top of that, my feet were black from walking around INSIDE the house when we first moved in and the bushes outside were dead, but they expected us to leave the house spotless, carpet professionally cleaned and the landscaping amazing. We originally rented a property from Midwest PMI, the property was sold to Progress Residential and that's when our nightmare began. Phone calls would go unanswered, we were without hot water for several days waiting for a 3rd party plumber. We sent (certified) notice that we were not renewing our lease that went unacknowledged until we called them several times. When we moved out they charged us for the removal of pre-existing fixtures on the property and returned only about a quarter of our security deposit. We were forced to file in small claims court to even get a response from Progress Residential. The only good thing I can say about this company is that after we won in court they paid us within 30 days. read more

This company has the worst customer service. The house isn't bad but you can't talk to anyone locally. They make appointments and don't keep them. You literally do their job. You basically are the homeowner but your payments don't actually own the home. You have to have everything professionally cleaned on move out (nope you can't clean it yourself) or they charge you $450+ if no receipts. They want you to use their one vendor, who doesn't even give you a discount, or else they say they can fine you if it's "not up their standards". Not sure what standards those are because the house was absolutely filthy when I moved in. I'm leaving it in 10x better condition than what it was given to me. You fill all holes, touch up paint, fix exterior of home (I even had to color match and buy paint to paint trim and garage door that prior residents messed up because the company wouldn't even respond on the issue), power wash, landscape, clean windows, wipe down baseboards, etc. I've never had a rental company do absolutely nothing but take my payment. I have now been a renter with progress going on 4/5 years. I just have to say something about the reviews. I moved from a place that didn't even care about the way you lived. They collected rent and that was it. and I lived there for 8 years. Until I couldn't take it anymore. With that being said since i have been a renter with Progress, it has been amazing. I mean WHENEVER there is an issue they fix it immediately. I don't care when it is. I haven't had many but those i have had have been corrected. Not to mention 2020. It got ahold of a lot of us. I fell behind but I still paid what I could and when I tell you that they worked with me the months that I needed them to with no hesitation. They were on it and extremely willing to assist in any way. I am not doing this for any recognition. I just see the negative reviews and I am a bit bothered because if you communicate with them on any level. I'm positive that whatever it is will be resolved. Again I'm not doing any of this for recognition. They don't even know that I am writing a review. Maybe my family was blessed. But I can tell you that. Left us without a working furnace for half of the winter. Knew it was broken, their own contractors told them, they refused to replace it until January, after we had spent hundreds(!) of dollars on our electric bill and space heaters. House was unclean, infested with ants upon move in (WE had to pay for pest service to address this) and the grass was over a foot tall in the yard. The maintenance workers they sent broke several things including toilet and sink (the guy drilled a massive hole In Our sink with a regular power drill and left a mangled mess of metal and metal shavings all over our kitchen) . Will update this after final correspondence from Progress. But wanted to at the very least advise others to video tape the home as we have upon move out. We've left it spotless, however it's necessary to be careful as the company is charging tenants exuberant fees and not using that collected money for its intended purposes. read more

We applied, my application was approved, and then my co-applicant sent in his. Waited over a week with no reply. We called again, after being on hold for over an hour they said "we can't find his email application submission." So then he said alright I'll send it again. He re-submitted it while still on the line with the representative, and she said "there it is, I've got it." Then again, no response of any kind for weeks. TERRIBLE lack of communication. We call again, and once again, we are on hold for over an hour. Then they say, oh, we're so terribly sorry, we sent you a voicemail to which you had 24 hours to reply, and you didn't, so the home has been secured by someone else. WTF? Oh and there isn't a voicemail in either of our inboxes. God I could go on forever about how bad of an experience this has been. I'm furious. This company does not invest in renters. This company covers the the front and hind end of the company. The renter is a source of income for this company. They put service fees and repairs on the renter. This company fines the renter if the renter does not clean or make repairs to the home for the next renter. The company does not keep spare keys for their properties. Should the renter lock them self out, they send a lock smith at the renters expense. Everything is at the renters expense. They will keep your security deposit. Even if you do exactly as they say to the rental home before you move out. You will never get your security deposit back. We agree with others on this site about Progress Residential. We had a broken HVAC that wasn't fixed until 3 weeks after our initial job request. Their service department was unable to answer questions. We have 2 young children at home that were freezing everyday with subzero temps in January 2018. When we informed them that we were leaving since they have breached the statute to provide heat, they told us we were still responsible for paying a $4890 lease break fee, and the fees just keep coming! We hope the attorney general investigates and helps others who have experienced the same problem. We highly recommend that any future renters look at all Yelp reviews and the BBB website before renting from this company! read more

I rented the home online. Moved from California to Indianapolis Indiana. No pre walk through. Just an email where the key was at. The house was just ok. This was a transition house. Just until I bought a home. Moved in beginning of April. Moved out June 19th. I have 30 days notice. I do realize I would be charged for breaking lease early. My realtor looked over contract and said I would be charged an extra month. I did everything they asked. Carpets professionally cleaned, yard mowed. The house looked better than when we moved in. The we is myself 50 years and my mother 74 years. We never even used second floor. We slept on air matresses, since we were buying new furniture. I added up all charges for 2 months and 19 days. $5,895 for less than 3 months. When I called about getting security deposit back they said I still owed $994. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!!!!!! I was hassled beyond belief to get a letter from my doctor at the VA to write a letter stating that I had a service animal. 2 - The house has (still) a bee infestation. I asked to be present the week prior to moving in to make sure that the bees were properly removed. NOPE. Still infested with bees and they refuse to take a call or fix the problem. Lawyers are now getting involved. 3 - FILTH FILTH FILTH! The place had food on the walls, the carpets were extremely dirty and it had a dryer vent stuffed full of lint. Dried soap on the racks in the laundry room with embedded human hair. Toilets that even a professional cleaning crew could not get cleaned. Bathtubs with black film that the crew somewhat go cleaned. What a dirty place that THEY want YOU to call home. 5 - Closet doors falling off of the walls. 6 - Customer service sucks. I backed out of leasing with them but, they took a rather large deposit that they refused to give back so, in lieu of letting them have free money, we decided to stay. We should have chosen otherwise because this place flat out sucks. I really wish that I had come out here and looked to see that they have an average of 1 star (the suckiest) rating. THE WORST. If i could give them 0 stars i would. We just moved out of one of their rentals in Noblesville Indiana. We terminated our lease 2 months early. They tried to charge us for Januaries rent even though our lease expires at the end of December. I have been trying to contact someone to sort out the financial problem for 2 weeks and NO ONE HAS EVER CALLED US BACK. They asked us to pay our pro rated rent for November but when calling to make the payment they said they couldn't accept it without a memo from the area marketer who has NEVER RETURNED MY MESSAGES SINCE THE SECOND WEEK OF OCTOBER. our service requests were NEVER completed. Our family room had a SERIOUS leak from rain and our furniture was getting soaked. When calling the service emergency line they told me "it's not that serious we will get back to you". They REFUSED to transfer me to a supervisor and no one came to repair our leak for 4 DAYS when it had rained for 3 of those days! They REFUSED to pay for the wasp nest removal above our garage bc it was past our 15 day move in. We moved in in January! And the wasps were dormitory until spring! The picture on move in day even showed the wasp nest at the top of the garage peak!! They never fixed our water valve shut off and their customer service representatives are the RUDEST most condescending people i have EVER dealt with. Do not EVER rent from this company. You will SERIOUSLY regret it. If you do rent from them document EVERYTHING upon move in because they will try to take every dollar from you when you move out and blame you for things that were NEVER your responsibility !! Never been more dissatisfied with a company and could not be happier to be out of that rental agreement. Not to mention as part of our move out cost they charged us $1500.00 for a MARKETING FEE on top of DOUBLING the move out agreement cost ! give me a break. Have been trying to reach the women who was in charge of our move out costs since OCTOBER and she has never once had the decency to return a call or email! STAY AWAY. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! In February 2019 I reached out to Progress residential about the buyout agreement because I was offered a job somewhere else and wanted to explore all options before making a decision. I never received a response back so I attempted again in the later part of February and through March by sending emails, calling the local offices and calling the corporate office in AZ. I waited for a response and never received a response. I continued to pursue an answer by calling and emailing to get my answers and finally I did (email threads below) According to the representative at PR we have to give notice an we would be billed after move-out for the buyout, of which is 2 months of rent and that our $1200 deposit would go toward the buyout amount of $2600.00 totaling in the amount of $1400.00 when we receive our Final account statement at that time we could make a payment arrangement. Our lease ended August 2019 and we moved out 04/30/2019. I called and emailed after not hearing from PR to get our FAS and they indicated for me to email notices@PR and I did. Once we recieved our FAS we were charged for things that were incorrect and the dates were wrong. They gave us 15 days from the letter date, one date was in May, another date was in July and there were outrageous charges on our account. I had to request an itemized statement detailing the charges. The largest being the $1300.00 marketing fee and garage remotes. We left that house in better condition in which we received and I have photos reflecting that as well and supportive documentation of the garage opener charge that was left on the counter. In the emails and via phone we were never told about a $1300.00 marketing fee (attachments below) We called immediately to rectify this and to get this removed. They indicated that if we paid "right now: they would take it off. PR practices are unethical and by NO means there should never be a $1300 marketing fee! STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS YOU CAN! After a year of paying on time they literally forced me to move out by raising my rent by $125 a month and insisting that I sign another year's lease. I requested to live at the location on a month to month basis based on my prior year's history and was told my rent would go up by $425 per month. I moved out and left the home cleaner and in better shape than when I moved in and they charged me $510 to paint the interior. I understand that any prospective tenant would want the home freshly painted but that is the owners expense not the tenant's. My deposit was $1125 so they gave $615 back. Companies like this have, over the years, made me start to lose faith in humanity as honesty and integrity are seldom recognized. If this review steers only one prospective client away from this company I have saved at least one family the strife of dealing with a dishonest and greedy company. PLEASE do yourself a favor seek elsewhere, there are a lot of property management companies out there that will take much better care of you. read more

STAY AWAY FROM PROGRESS RESIDENTIAL!!! Honestly, If i could give this place negative stars I would. At first I thought this company was good and my house was amazing. BUT.... They go through a third party to pay utilities. When they double charged me they kept putting me on hold or wouldn't return my calls. Any problems I had either never got taken care of or took an extremely long time to get fixed. You must provide them with a 60 day move out notice and if you don't they will charge you an extreme amount. Or if you do but they don't record it, you still get charged that outrageous amount. ($1600) I tried handling all issues with Michelle but she didn't seem too concerned on helping me. I left her a hand full of messages to call me back and speak to me instead of emailing but not once did she call. I had a lady tell me that they can't take the charges off my bill but will reimburse what I over paid afterwards. Uhm sorry but im not going to pay an extra $1600 because of YOUR mistake. They try to get you for your money. Even if you complete your cleaning sheet, they will just charge you for someone else to come out and clean the entire house. Our property was sold to Progress after we originally signed our lease and they were a completely nightmare to work with. It's impossible to actually get anyone on the phone to answer a question and they don't seem to talk to each other internally. They also promptly began raising rents higher than market rates, which motivated us to leave after two years. Shortly before moving out, we learned that we would be responsible for having the carpet professionally cleaned (which was not specified in the lease and is really unusual) and would have to provide the invoice to prove it or else the cost would be deducted out of our deposit. I hired a cleaner and supplied an invoice, but they deducted the cost anyway. When we received our deposit back, they sent it certified mail to their rental that we'd recently vacated, even though we'd supplied them with our new address several times (and they insisted each time that we never had). The post office was unable to account for the whereabouts of our check and neither could Progress, so we had to wait for them to issue a new one. It took about three months to get the majority of the deposit back, at which time I learned about the carpet cleaning deduction and promptly disputed it. It's the middle of November now and even though we moved out at the end of July, I'm still waiting on the rest of my deposit. I just want my money and to be done with these people. Avoid them at all costs. read more
