Thanks I drove all the way from Everett 10am in the morning to attend a home buyers class she was supposed to teach...Well I arrived 10 minutes early to find a sign at the door saying Home buyers class call this number..... Well called the number and Kate had the nerve to not pick up the phone....We had gone back and forth a week earlier and the last thing I heard the class was on so I know it hadn't been canceled...I called again and still no one picked up the phone. I mean how rude do you get??? I told her that this is a requirement for the homestead program so she knew the seriousness of getting this class done...if you are reading this the homestead program is for low income people...which I am a single parent and trying to purchase a home....hmmmm makes you wonder....DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUISNESS WITH THIS UNRELIABLE PERSON!! Update-Kate Beck called at 1046am an hour later in the car...as evidenced by the noise in the background....she left a voicemail stating the class started at 9am this morning...I had received an email on August 4th 2010 at 6:55pm stating "the class is on saturday from 10am-3pm...no other emails indicated a change in the time and or location. She answered that I could tell my friend to go see it with her own agent. I went immediately to see it with my friend's agent. My friend was ready to make an offer, but the next day the property was pending. Had she communicated that there was somebody else interested in the property she could have had multiple offers to present the owner. I emailed her that, she replied not to contact her!!! At least now I know I would never give her a listing!

A block off Broadway, smack dab in the middle of Capitol Hill. I don't, however, like the bums nearby. I usually can't walk from home to anywhere without being asked for change. I'm used to it now, but it gets old. The kids across the street have loud parties on the weekends quite often. But, I just drown them out with my own silly music. The apartment I live in is a "one bedroom". However, I do believe my closet is bigger than the bedroom. There's no window in my room which makes me feel like I've been put in isolation at a mental facility at times. The apartment itself is charming and old with hardwood floors. BUT, with that "charm" comes sacrifice. I don't have a dishwasher, microwave (or any place to put one if I bought one) or a washer and dryer in the unit. The walls are really thin since the building is quite old and I get to enjoy the sound of my next door neighbors doing the deed quite often. Luckily, though, they don't go for long. The bathroom totally sucks. There is no fan and the water pressure is that of a drizzle. There's free parking for scooters/bikes/motorcycles. For cars I believe it's $100. But, the garage is really tiny and I doubt one could manuever into a spot (even with a compact car) and NOT ding anything. All in all, it's a decent place to live. It's really close to SCCC. So, it would be perfect for a student. It's reasonably priced and most of the utilities are included in the cost of rent. If you don't mind the occasional bum, sound of squeaking beds, shitty water pressure, no applicances, sweeping the floor constantly and never having a consistent room temperature - this place is for you.

I signed a 6 month lease at this apartment in November and had to break my lease due to a family emergency. The property manager (Michael Ovens, actually a really nice guy) told me that if he couldn't find anybody to take over my lease I would have to continue to pay until they could - fine, no problem. Anyway, I found someone who needed a lease that was exactly the length of the remainder of mine - I gave her their phone #, apartment looked great to her, she was set to take over. Except Philips Real Estate decided to tell her she would have to sign an entirely new lease instead of just finishing out mine, which she couldn't do. I fulfilled my obligation to find someone to take over my lease and they told her she couldn't rent the apartment in an attempt to force me into continuing to pay them rent. On top of all of this, they made NO effort to rent the apartment. They intentionally didn't post the vacancy on their website or on craigslist - I checked daily. They also tried to charge me 175 DOLLARS IN CLEANING FEES!!! I lived in this apartment for less than a month with no furniture. All in all I lived in this dank, dark and dirty apartment for about 3 weeks and I now have a collections agency trying to collect 475 dollars from me. Steer clear of this place, seriously.

I've used TEC for both buying and selling and have been beyond satisfied every time. What really stood out is that my agent took time to explain and detail every step of the process. It took out a lot of the guesswork I had in dealing with real estate and made it feel "easy." Before talking with them I was totally overwhelmed with the prospect of buying a house. I'd talked to a few other agencies and they seemed quick to make a sale - but the TEC team actually made sure I understood what it all entailed. Specifically, on the buying side, my agent had some really helpful tips on how to scope potential properties beyond what we probably all do on Zillow. I thought I'd found a few places that were wonderful and they were able to find a couple things that were dealbreakers. On the selling side they likewise had some really great tips I never would have considered to make the process easier. Overall would totally recommend to anyone looking to buy or sell a home in the Seattle area.
