TDLR: Great experience here vs Providence I had encountered issues in the past when trying to get x-rays and imaging done for my children here in El Paso. The last time my doctor referred my son to Providence Hospital for a chest X-ray, we had to go to their only location for kids, and the waiting time exceeded 45 minutes. Moreover, the follow-up was practically non-existent. It took over 4 months and 5 phone calls between myself and my doctor's office just to get the scan sent to my doctor for review. After that experience, I decided not to return to Providence Hospital. However, when I visited Professional Radiology yesterday to have my daughter's wrist checked due to her complaints of pain, I inquired about alternative options. I didn't want to go through the same horrible experience again at Providence. Thankfully, Dr. Naga's office was open on Saturday and had recently started contracting with Professional Radiology. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Professional Radiology also provides services for kids over 6 years old! This is the same office that assisted a couple of moms I know in diagnosing cancer at an early stage, allowing for timely treatment and potentially saving their lives. Professional Radiology has consistently demonstrated professionalism and effective communication. Therefore, I requested Dr. Naga's office to send the referral there instead. Although I was a walk-in, they accommodated my daughter's urgent situation as they were open until 2:00 PM on Saturday and genuinely concerned about her well-being. Thankfully, it turned out to be a sprain, but I'm extremely grateful that they took the time to ensure it wasn't a break or fracture. Prior to my visit, I reached out to other moms to inquire about their imaging experiences. Some of them shared horror stories about long wait times for X-rays and even longer delays in receiving the results at Urgent Care centers. They would rather take the chance of getting an X-ray at Urgent Care and attempt to diagnose it themselves or with the help of a nurse, rather than dealing with places like Providence and going through the struggle of obtaining their results, similar to what I experienced. It's truly a shame that these seem to be the only options available. That's why I wanted to share my positive experience with Professional Radiology. They not only provide an alternative option, but you simply need to ask your doctor to refer you there. Additionally, their services are less costly than Urgent Care. I sincerely hope that Providence Hospital improves its services because, at this point, they are not adequately serving the community if we have to fight to receive results for tests that our insurance has covered. The X-Ray technician assigned to conduct my CT scan without contrast proved to be deficient in the area of quality service because she had failed to verbally instruct me the patient regarding how to physically position my head on the pillow in a downward position for the procedure. After unsuccessfully being able to do the CT Scan the technician, admitted that the majority of patients are unable to complete the downward head position like me in doing the scan because it involves deep breathing exercises. And with the head being pressed in a downward position against a pillow, the patients like me are not able to do it without raising our heads from the pillow. She then suggested that we try again, and I said no because I do not want to be re-expose to the radiation once more. read more

I arrived at this place at 1145 for a 12pm appointment. When i arrived the two sweet front desk women who were absolutely amazing gave me paperwork to fill out and i was in the back ready for my MRI by 12pm. they have lockers for your personal belongings and then you head inside the MRI room. The Machines are more spacious than your normal machines however i still freaked out once inside. The MRI assistant offered me earphones with music of my choice and stayed and comforted me the entire time. The two MRI women was absolutely amazing and very patient with my episode and not once made me feel uncomfortable or get upset with me about me being scared of the machine at my big age lol. This is for the East Side location- Approximately a week and a half ago my wife made an appt. with a referral/order from her doctor for a specific type of mammogram image. When she called the Eastside office, she made sure they had the referral. She was told yes and made the appt. for Monday 15 APR. The appt. was CONFIRMED via email AND a phone call. (I believe there was also a text confirmation). We arrived early and checked in. After some time had passed, a technician called her into the back and she was informed that the type of imaging was not done on Monday and could she return the next day. After some last minute rescheduling, we agreed to return on Tuesday for a 1:20 PM appt. Again, we arrived early and checked in. After about 30 minutes, watching patients come in and be seen, she went to the reception area and asked what the delay was. She was told by the receptionist "I will tell them how long it will be". We again waited for another 20 minutes or so with no answer. I watched as several technicians walked through the waiting room several times as if they were on a walking break (not calling patients, just walking). I stopped one and asked to speak with a supervisor. The tech then entered a treatment room. I waited for a short period, then asked another tech to speak with a supervisor. This tech went into the back and returned stating that a supervisor would be out soon. After some time a person came out (Martha?) and asked what was going on. I explained the situation and she said let me go check. She returned and stated that the tech was with a patient and my wife was next. Soon a tech came out and called my wife to be seen. I recognized this tech as one of the ones seen walking around, as I mentioned earlier. I wondered how she could be with a patient and walk around at the same time- wonders of modern medicine I guess. Anyhow, for a 1:20 PM appt, my wife was seen at 2:50 PM, for a 10-minute imaging procedure. My wife is recovering from a stroke and is on medication that causes fatigue and makes her very uncomfortable. Professional Radiology has "Patients First" as part of their name, and posters displayed inside claim "patient centered". It is difficult to believe that they mean this after our experience with them. I understand that many doctors "overlook" appts, it is part of the game, but this experience is totally uncalled for and certainly not acceptable. read more

Our experience here at this location was not too bad, our wait time was less than 30min. The front office staff was very welcoming and helpful. However, when it came to the ultrasound the medical assistant did not know what images she needed take. She also acted very rude when I mentioned that I wouldn't feel comfortable going in alone. She dismissed me as if bothered by my request and denied my husband entrance to the exam room. I don't think I will be returning to this eastside facility again. read more

I can definitely say I recommend Professional Radiology. The staff was kind and patient in the office/lobby and throughout my procedure. We had a little mixup with my appointment at first but it was resolved quickly. I had to have an ultrasound done recently. The staff was prompt with my appointment. That's kind of a rarity here in El Paso. Everyone is typically late 10 to 15 minutes when it comes to appointments but not here! My appointment was at 2:30 and it began promptly. The staff asked me to drink water before the ultrasound. The two young ladies who did my ultrasound were patient and gentle while doing the procedure. It was a bit uncomfortable for me and they completely understood. Empathy really goes a long way! They also communicated a lot throughout the procedure to let me know what they were doing before doing it. I appreciated that a lot. I think the cost to get an ultrasound here was pretty reasonable. It usually costs close to $300. It was $150 for me. I think the best places to get a reasonably priced ultrasound would be here or UMC. Professional Radiology also has an office on the eastside. I highly recommend coming here if necessary. read more

Showed up for a scheduled MRI. Took leave from work to show up and be told my appt was rescheduled. They said they called a few days before, but did not. It was due to a prior authorization which my insurance does not require in the first place. Even says in bold on the order, Authorization: Not Required. That part I could excuse becuase things happen. The part that really bugs me is they say they called and left a message, which they didn't. If you are going to cancel or move someones appointment, it probably should be confirmed by the patient. read more

Impossible to get a receipt. I was refused getting a receipt in the office, and could not get a hold of billing department for months. I could not submit a receipt to my FSA account for a long time. I will not come back simply because they make me spend so much of my valuable time on a simple thing that would only take a minute to provide. read more

While I have no complaint with the care delivered by this practice, their billing is poor to say the least. I had an appointment for which I was billed a $120 copay. I paid the payment at the time of of my appointment. When I looked at the EOB from my insurance, no copay was applied and the allowed amount was indicated as paid. When I called the billing service I was advised that a refund would be "requested" (not guaranteed) and that it would take 3 weeks to receive the check once/if approved. I advised the individual I was speaking with that I view this as a shady billing practice, particularly in that no communication was made to me of the over payment and had I not inquired, it would not have been forthcoming. I further requested that the amount be refunded to the credit card on which it was paid. The individual said they could not do that. I then requested that the refund be sent to me within 7 days.
