I have been a long distance marathon and half marathon runner for the past 25 years, but six months ago I had to stop because of severe pain in my right knee. In fact, I couldn't walk without limping. The pain was a result loss of strength in my legs and a kneecap that shifted too far to the right (yes, painful!). Physical therapy can be a daunting experience, especially when placing the pain you've been having in the (literal) hands of someone else. Not only is this group of people cohesive and incredibly intelligent, they are professional, attentive, and can make you laugh. I've been working with Dave for about 3 weeks or so. I love the team at ProEx Waltham. I have had multiple knee surgeries and undergone numerous PT rehabs and my experience here has been the best yet. I was diagnosed with arthritis in both hips and was feeling significant pain. In my first contact with Professional Physical Therapy, they were very open that with arthritis, there is only so much that can be done. I went twice a week for 6 weeks and then extended for another 3 weeks. The therapists worked closely with me to develop a set of exercises that I can do with them and at home to develop muscles to take pressure of the hips. For the past 3 weeks, I have been basically pain free. The exercises have increased in the level of challenge but they have addressed the hip pain and allowed me to extend my range of activities. All of the staff are friendly and caring. They are very time sensitive so there is minimal waiting. They move me through the necessary exercises and explain what is the purpose and objective. Today, I feel that I am in maintenance mode and will continue with my home exercise routines. In the event that I have recurrence of the prior pain, Professional Physical Therapy will be my first call. read more
