Our trailer was delivered to our new address after two weeks in storage so I have been treated to yet more of the Verlys "professionalism." The amount of broken, damaged, or destroyed items is beyond belief! I've moved numerous times and never lost possessions like I did this time. It has been heartbreaking. The movers we hired to unload the truck (actual professionals, not pretend ones) couldn't believe how sloppily the truck was packed. We have solid wood tables with the legs snapped clean off, leather furniture with holes poked through, and numerous boxes that were just crushed and destroyed along with the contents. Boxes marked "fragile" we're put at the bottom of 9' high stacks of boxes and crushed to 1/3 of their size. Just because I have a lot of free time and I'm a masochist, I'm going to try to file a claim with their insurance company. read more

It is not very often that I post anything negative. But, given the multitude of damages and the lack of a professional response from Verlys Pro Moving Labor I feel compelled to warn all. Here's the brief summary... Move scheduled over a month in advance for June 29th at 9am. Confirmed with them 1 week in advance. Truck, tools for furniture disassembly and shrink wrap were not provided, yet they said it would be. I had to scramble last minute to get a truck and we had to use our tools and labor to disassemble furniture. By the time we figured that out along with the mover's arrival we did not start moving until 3 hours late at noon. The two movers they did send were nice guys, but by no stretch were they experienced "pro" movers. It was hot, they rushed and we have what you can see in the pictures. The employee said he was not scheduled to work and was called last minute, he then called his brother who did not work for Verlys to help him. Yet, when I called with concern she told me I had two of their most experienced movers. 1 year of experience for one and 1 day for the other. So that is your most experienced? To top that off, because they were not even supposed to work they had to leave by 6PM, guess when the appliances were put on the truck - yep we had to unload those ourselves. So back to the pictures... Several pieces of furniture damaged, holes in walls that were just painted and deep scratches in the hardwood floors. Conservative estimate: $5-6K worth of damage. Would John Verly the owner call to even discuss after several requests through his so called manager, no they would not. Instead, tried to play victim that I only paid the labor and not the remainder of their fee. In my opinion, Verlys Pro Moving Labor who operates under cash only with no agreement or contract has done so because it is NOT a legitimate moving service as portrayed on Facebook. To further that, they are most likely fully aware that if they were to operate in a legitimate manner they would be opening themselves for being liable for situations like ours. I should have researched Yelp instead of relying on reviews from other sites, which were clearly bogus. Guys showed up late and tried to get out of the move by saying they had a flat and couldn't change it. After calling their boss, they arrived late and did a half assed moving job. They moved my leather couches across the floor, on their sides, and onto the truck with NO protection or wrap. They banged my clothes dresser, which was on a dolly, into my outside lamp pole. They scratched my headboard, dropped my vintage and sentimental Victrola and smashed a Victrola record. The also messed up my entertainment center housing. What a bunch of amateurs. The money I saved cost me with all the damage they created. They were slow, even though I had moved the washer and dryer out of the house for them. My wife was pissed when she saw the damage. I contacted the company only to get through to a clerk. She gave me the email to the owner who never replied after two attempts. WTF? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you want derilicts breaking your prized possessions. Negative stars would be given if possible. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I scheduled an out of state move from MI to IL. I paid my invoice in order to reserve the moving dates. The day before my move I tried to contact this company several times. I left several voicemails that weren't returned. I was sent a facebook message the day of my move stating the company temporarily closed down and I would be issued a refund in 7 to 10 business days. It has been nearly a month. The company has since changed their name from Verly's Pro Moving Labor to Moving Labor Now and blocked me from their facebook page. I have filed complaints with the BBB and have an active dispute with my credit card company. None of my calls have been returned. I called the company today and they answered but when I discussed needing a refund the woman hung up on me and blocked my calls. I called from another number and she answered only to hang up when she realized it was me. Please share this and don't allow any one else to be scammed by this company. I was hesitant on hiring this company due to only two star rating on Yelp. I took a leap of faith and hired them. First of all they are the best priced company for this service in the area, I did my homework. They were very professional, and very careful with everything they moved. They honestly treated my belongings with care, and sincerely wanted to do a good job. I was so pleasantly surprised , I had to give them five stars, if you are looking to move but don't want to pay through the nose, and at the same time have confidence in who you hire... give these guys a shot, they were fantastic read more

They not only scammed a pregnant girl out of money, but didn't even finish the job they were paid to do. Let's not forget, they damaged appliances, didn't have moving blankets, had horrible attitudes and after contacting the owner to resolve it.. we were told it would be resolved a week ago and now SURPRISE SURPRISE IT ISN'T RESOLVED AND THEY'RE NOT TAKING PHONE CALLS OR RETURNING MESSAGES. When you hire movers, you trust that your possessions will be handled with care and on a timely manner. With this company that is not the case. Dented dryers, damaged boxes and they never came back to finish the job. If you post something on social media about them, they block you from commenting (hence why you can't leave or read reviews from them on facebook). This company is terrible and will take your money and run. Please seek other movers, as these people were a complete water of money and time. read more

Management is awful and they treat their employees like dogs. They make promises they don't keep and they aren't ethical. We had a good experience with the movers themselves but they are treated very poorly by the Management. The price is good until you have to buy an extra truck because they lied about what would fit and not fit. The list goes on. We thought we found good movers for a terrific price but we were sadly mistaken. When I talked to the lady to make the reservation I explained I have a 5 bedroom house , full basement and garage that are all packed with stuff. She said oh two movers will be fine ! Then we added on our hot tub and she said well we will add two additional guys for three hours. Ok our original movers John and Shawn were great friendly helpful and hard workers ! Then add Chris and Mart both hard workers as well and I paid additional money to keep them working to help finish up. The last trip they made they moved the bed without part of the frame, the other bed without pillows and the frozen food without the freezer . They left so many things that I have to rent another truck today and get family to finish the move. All movers were nice with the exception of Chris. Smart comments and yelled at me and told me what kind of tip he wanted. Their tip was smaller then he expected and he called me a nasty name. I learned pay for professional movers cause you get what you pay for! Would never recommend them. Also they broke a TV by dropping it in our basement and saying it was during the ride funny we found the piece in our basement . Broke the temperature control off our washer and stole three chairs from our garage ! Yep bad news ! read more

Do NOT use these guys. They damaged the walls and floors in our home and then refused to take any responsibility for their actions. I would have sued them, but I learned that they have no liability insurance. Employees take frequent smoke breaks and lie about their actions. read more

Absolutely awful experience. When my movers did not show up at noon as reserved, no one called to inform me that they would be late. Trying to get an answer from the company was a nightmare, they didn't know where the movers were or what was going on. The woman at the headquarters was rude, unapologetic, and screened my phone calls since I kept calling trying to figure out what was going on. When I finally called from my boyfriends phone she picked up and still didn't know what was going on. The movers finally showed up five and a half hours late, explaining that the headquarters was a mess because the owner is currently in jail. And the guy said he didn't call because he just bought an $850 phone, " which he didn't want to break on a job" which apparently is a good reason not to call your customers. Due to the lack of communication and the movers showing up five and a half hours late, I was forced to rent my rental truck an extra day. When I asked the lady at headquarters about reimbursement, she said it was not their fault and threatened not to send the movers unless I paid up on the spot. She said she would talk to the manager and get back with me. She actually lied to me by saying she would talk with the manager, who the mover later told me was in jail every weekend for writing an ATV off his property. They also broke one of my kitchen table chairs and scratched up the table badly. When it came time to pay I explained to the movers that I had given my credit card number to the owner. The woman from the headquarters called me again and was very threatening. I explained to her that I had given my card to the gentleman who I made the reservation with, but she continued. I ended up giving the two movers cash, making them both sign and witness on a piece of paper that I paid in cash. I still have yet to be reimbursed for the extra rental day on my truck. My mother used this moving company on Saturday May 16th to move her two bedroom apartment into a pod. The movers themselves were awesome. Hardworking and very friendly and efficient. We can't say enough good things about them. The price was incredibly fair. $170 for 3 hours and 2 movers. My 6 year old nephew helped them out and they tipped him $5 and he was thrilled. Really nice guy. Here's why they lose a star (probably need to lose two)- the lady who works in the office is inept. We set up the appointment about a week prior to the move. We spoke and said the movers would arrive between 12-1. Two days prior to the move she called and said she had received a message (this was a message we left before we spoke to her the first time) and would like to book our move. Well, we already had it booked- but apparently she didn't have it in the books. It got straightened out but my worrier of a mother was scared they weren't going to show. The morning of the move, the mover called apologizing for being late but would be there in an hour. This was at 10am. So ultimately he showed up at 11- which was earlier than the appointment. It was fine, we were ready to go but something is going on with the scheduling and front desk staff. Otherwise we would use again and will when mom unloads the pod in a few months. read more
