My wife and I moved into a 30-year-old condo with electric forced air heat last year and after an…read moreexpensive winter, we turned to Ciel Power to help us hopefully reduce our monthly energy bills. A couple of months later, and I would say it's too soon to tell if there are significant cost savings yet, but we are pleased with the overall experience and our house definitely feels less drafty. We ended up using Ciel Power to make the energy repairs because their recommendations just made so much sense and after the rebate, the 0% financing worked out to be really reasonable. Everyone at Ciel was extremely professional, and when we had a couple of small spots that were missed during the repairs, they sent their guys back out to finish the job and we're extremely eager to make sure we were happy with the finished product. I would recommend Ciel Power to anybody looking to make energy improvements in their aging home.

Since my original review, Natalie (Senior home performance consultant) from Ciel responded to my…read moreconcerns. I appreciate her acknowledgment that communication and coordination have fallen short, along with her apology for our experience. She also shared that our project is one of Ciel's first under New Jersey's newly launched Building Decarbonization Program and that there have been been challenges related to evolving program requirements, permitting, inspections, utility coordination, and scheduling. That context is helpful. However, it also reinforces why strong project management and proactive communication are so important, especially when navigating a new program. One part of the response stood out to me. Natalie mentioned this was the first time she was hearing that we felt this way. While this may have been the first time we summarized our concerns in a single email, our email history since March and April (it is now July) reflects repeated requests for clarity around project sequencing, permit status, HVAC installation, subcontractor coordination, and next steps. Throughout the project, we've consistently been trying to understand what was happening, what each step depended on, and when the remaining work would move forward. Our concern has never been that permits or inspections exist. We understand those are part of construction. Our concern is that the responsibility for tracking progress, following up, and piecing together the project timeline has too often fallen on us instead of the general contractor. We are still waiting for a clear written schedule outlining the remaining work, responsibilities, dependencies, and estimated timelines. Our home also remains without central air during the summer, and with a three-year-old daughter in the house, the impact continues to be significant. I remain hopeful that Ciel will bring the project to a successful conclusion, and if they do, I'll gladly update my review again. My goal is simply to share an honest experience and encourage the kind of communication and project management that homeowners should reasonably expect.

They say they'll get back to you and you never hear from them until they want to be paid. Then, they won't stop calling you. They called me everyday till they received the check. On top of all this, their contractor was terrible and did terrible, shoddy work when replacing my boiler and water heater. Had to have multiple pumps replaced and had no hot water for a week 3 times within the first year. I don't recommend this company to anyone. Make you feel like it is your fault when something breaks and try not to fix the problem. I also had the same experience with my attic insulation as the other reviewer, Brian K. Made the same promises to me but did nothing and just replaced the entrance stairway with a foam board. I wish I could give them less than 1 star.

We had to remind them to obtain an electrical permit since they were connecting the units to the main electrical panel. After multiple back and forth emails and phone calls they started applying for the permit but never followed through. We still do not have a permit for the work that was completed almost 2 years ago! If you choose to work with them beware -YOU need to know the permits that are required and you cannot rely on them. They also did some insulation work and the workers were very messy. We had to call them back but the terra cotta floor was never the same. We have been extremely patient with Rashid because our parents also owned small businesses but the experience was most definitely not a good one. His office staff was nice, i.e. Abigail, Chris, etc., but they are over worked it seems.
