BEWARE! This guy took every dime I received from the insurance company and did about 75G worth of…read morework. After the last 21K I gave him, for a total of 184, he disappeared for 90 days. When he finally showed back up, he had gone behind my back and tried to get 25G more. With that news, I fired him. He never pulled permits, put the wrong color roof on, and the glass block windows are wrong. Left my house without gutters for over a year. He stole my ladder, all the siding that is supposed to be on the house, and then broke into my house and stole all the trim and my gas cans. He was told to set up a time with the police there to gather HIS things. No one will finish the job because there are too many things he did wrong, but mostly because he didn't pull permits. He tiled all the way to the door opening, so there is no space to put trim. The electric outlet is in the way, too. I could write a book! Everyone I have had come look at the house says there is 75g done and 100k to finish, remembering I gave him $184,000. I received a quote to finish the outside for 8000! I paid him 100g for just the outside, and the bank and insurance signed off on that and gave him more money, and it's not done. Paid 100%. We had a contract for inside and outside. The contract included garage doors to be put up but it was not done. That wasn't included in the 8g estimate. If you would like to discuss further or are interested in finishing, give me a call! He explained that a hardware store water heater is of cheaper quality than the "professional" model he would install. He also correctly guessed that a competitive quote had come in lower because they did not factor in permitting the work, which he felt was important, and I agreed. He did look for multiple ways to save us some money, including combining visits, not charging for the initial investigation of our gas leak, discounting a subsequent job; he even researched the design lifetime of my new water heater and recommended against getting an extended warrantee in my case since the heater was built to last at least that long if not longer. It has taken then 3 weeks to order and receive parts. Then the service man, Dan, told me that the furnace needed replaced and that the warranty company would not cover it. When I called the warranty company to question the denial (I had an inspection in Feb when I bought the home), they said that they had never received a request for a replacement only for parts!
