My old pool pump sounded like a bag full of cats going through a wood-chipper whenever it ran. I…read moreknew it was trashed, and needed to be replaced, but I was just too lazy to get around to it. I would much rather go to the smaller local guy instead of the big-box/big overhead/big mark-up guys, so reached out to Seminole Pool Supply, and gave my current motor and pump configuration to Alexis, who advised that they had a matching, rebuilt 1.5 hp pump on-hand for $115. She also told me that they do free bench testing if I were to bring in my old motor, and if it was salvageable then they would rebuild it for $65. Both prices sounded more than fair to me - with new motors running in excess of $350+ - so I yanked my old motor, and drove the 35 miles to Sanford. Totally worth it the effort, as it turns out... Upon arrival, I was greeted by Alexis and her team immediately got to work on the tear-down. But first, a side note about Alexis's eyes. Alexis has eyes of the most amazing blue. And those blue eyes, up close, are a celestial phenomenon: Nebulae as seen through telescopes; the light of unnamed stars diffused through dusts and elements and endlessness. Layers of light. Blue eyes that are like starlight. Sorry for the segue.. Back to the review! The investigation of my pool pump motor revealed that it was seized (I wasn't surprised), and that the motor was beyond economic repair. Bummer, right? Now the cool, customer-oriented part and why I'd MUCH rather go to the local folks: Alexis said that she was mistaken, and that they only had a rebuilt 2.0 hp motor, with no 1.5 hp motors in stock. I internally prepped myself for the inevitable song and dance about the impending up-charge... But Alexis and Seminole Pool Supply would honor the price quoted over the phone. Done deal! Their tech - a tall, good looking (no homo!) dude named Kevin - brought me my new (to me) motor, and passed along some sage advice on connecting it to power. Alexis took my money, and sent me on my way. I got home, connected the power, and everything was all good! My neighbors will like me again without the 100 decibel scream of my old pool pump, my pool can go back into service, and I can crack a beer and look back with pride on a job well done... Their service techs are very young and clearly inexperienced. They caused a yellow/gold stain that runs across the entire bottom of our pool by leaving chemicals sitting at the bottom. The stain appeared the very next day after their service. When my husband tried to brush it, some debris lifted, but the stain remained. When we contacted the company, they denied responsibility and told us to file a warranty claim with our pool builder instead. This company is 100% responsible for the damage to our pool. If you want to protect your investment, I strongly recommend choosing a different service provider.

SO DISAPPOINTED! This is the first new season with our pool. We started taking samples up to them…read moreweekly, they said everything looks good, just add chlorine and how much. We followed their instructions, our pool kept looking yellow to me. I asked them about that, they said, add more chlorine. We followed their instructions, added so much chlorine that the pool ended up in chlorine lock where the chlorine doesn't do anything. We took a sample to another reliable company (digital analysis of our water) and we had to drain 2 feet from our pool to remove the Cyanuric Acid build up. I will drive the 2 extra miles to get a more in-depth analysis of our pool and what it needs. I also asked one of the staff members how to dispose of old chlorine. I found some old yellow jugs that needed to be emptied. She told me to leave the caps off and it would evaporate. That should have been a clue they don't know what they are doing. I did some research and it can be dropped off to a local Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facility.

The company that hired/contracted them had someone on site to supervise their work so the pool resurfacing turned out great. It was everything else that really soured my experience with this company. *Lack of communication - My husband notified them of something that was not to be done right away due to previous problems & the first thing that they did was that exact thing. They said that although my husband told the crew chief, he didn't pass it on to the crew so they cut a pipe when they weren't supposed to. *Smoked on our property & threw cigarettes in our yard. We have small dogs & eating one could have made them very sick. The crew was told not to smoke on property by the company who contracted them, & even e a safe smoking area for them. They completely disregarded it & smoked in the front yard. *Property damage - One guy purposely ran his body along my Gardenia bushes every single time he walked out of the pool area. This ripped flowers & leaves off & left multiple pieces & flowers torn from the bushes by the end of the day. *Property damage- They would leave metal rods with sharp ends leaned against the screen to be snagged, they drug their hoses with metal ends along my concrete pool deck - scratching the slab, knocked their equipment against my screen door frame - chipped the frame. Took their plant-waterer container t had acid in it & walked it along my property, pouring out what was left as they walked. This killed my grass. *Disregarded a request- They created a makeshift tub in the front yard & filled it with water to rinse their supplies. They hooked up to my water. I asked that they turn the hose off whenever they aren't using it & they said okay. About 20min later I looked out front to see the hose nozzle-side pointing down into the grass & no one was around. I was already not trusting these guys because of everything else that I had seen, so I decided to go check it out. I lifted the hose & sure enough it was on full-blast. I told them to disconnect the hose from my house & use another source. *Left a filthy mess - They left debris all over my front & back yard. The rep from the company that contracted them had to stay a long while afterwards picking up behind them. My dogs could have died from their negligence. These guys did their job but it was obvious that they did not care about it, the customer, or their employer's reputation. It was very sad.
