My old pool pump sounded like a bag full of cats going through a wood-chipper whenever it ran. I knew it was trashed, and needed to be replaced, but I was just too lazy to get around to it. I would much rather go to the smaller local guy instead of the big-box/big overhead/big mark-up guys, so reached out to Seminole Pool Supply, and gave my current motor and pump configuration to Alexis, who advised that they had a matching, rebuilt 1.5 hp pump on-hand for $115. She also told me that they do free bench testing if I were to bring in my old motor, and if it was salvageable then they would rebuild it for $65. Both prices sounded more than fair to me - with new motors running in excess of $350+ - so I yanked my old motor, and drove the 35 miles to Sanford. Totally worth it the effort, as it turns out... Upon arrival, I was greeted by Alexis and her team immediately got to work on the tear-down. But first, a side note about Alexis's eyes. Alexis has eyes of the most amazing blue. And those blue eyes, up close, are a celestial phenomenon: Nebulae as seen through telescopes; the light of unnamed stars diffused through dusts and elements and endlessness. Layers of light. Blue eyes that are like starlight. Sorry for the segue.. Back to the review! The investigation of my pool pump motor revealed that it was seized (I wasn't surprised), and that the motor was beyond economic repair. Bummer, right? Now the cool, customer-oriented part and why I'd MUCH rather go to the local folks: Alexis said that she was mistaken, and that they only had a rebuilt 2.0 hp motor, with no 1.5 hp motors in stock. I internally prepped myself for the inevitable song and dance about the impending up-charge... But Alexis and Seminole Pool Supply would honor the price quoted over the phone. Done deal! Their tech - a tall, good looking (no homo!) dude named Kevin - brought me my new (to me) motor, and passed along some sage advice on connecting it to power. Alexis took my money, and sent me on my way. I got home, connected the power, and everything was all good! My neighbors will like me again without the 100 decibel scream of my old pool pump, my pool can go back into service, and I can crack a beer and look back with pride on a job well done... I am no longer doing business with Seminole Pool Supply. The last time they did a repair, it took them well over two weeks to do it (they were called on March 27th, and the bill was sent on April 15th). During that time, they had four no-call no-shows. That might not be a big deal to them, but when I set aside time from my schedule to make sure I'm available when repairmen show up, it displays a serious lack of respect for their customers. One of the times they did show up, they didn't have the right part because the person who came out to do the assessment "miscommunicated" with them. When concern was expressed to Lance that the employee who did the initial assessment seemed stoned at the time, he laughed and said, "Probably." Normally, I wouldn't care, but the man drove one of their trucks through a neighborhood a block from an elementary school. Not once did they apologize for their unprofessional behavior. I've also done research and found they charge $224.99 for parts that can be purchased on Amazon for $159.99. I used to go to Seminole Pool Supply for all my pool needs. However, since they invested in their fleet of trucks, their service, especially their customer service, has gone downhill. read more

The team at Seminole Pool Supply just finished a "remodel" of our in-ground swimming pool. New tile, pebble-tec, lights, vacuum, automation, etc. Kevin and Alexis are first-rate. Very knowledgeable. I have used this pool cleaning service for several months, and must say they are mediocre at best. When they first started, they were fine, but now they do little to keep my pool clean. They were here today for about 10 minutes. Brushed the pool poorly and left. I guess it's time to find someone else for the job. read more

Called the repair man to fix a pump seal. After he was done the pump was making a very loud noise. He said the pump had bad bearings. I told him the pump was not making that noise before. So basically he fixed one thing but broke my pump in the process. Now I have another $300 fix. Do not recommend these people to fix your pool equipment. read more

I had a propane pool heater that needed replaced. Seminole Pool came out, removed the old unit, redid the pluming for the new heater and installed it. They did a fantastic job. The new unit looks professionally installed and they even fixed a small leak I had on the pump. I highly recommend Seminole Pool, no question. Wow! What a great company and great owner. I found KEVIN and The Seminole Pool Supply team on Craigslist and didn't realise that they now own the old Dockside Pools in Sanford on French Ave (they have those cups on the fence spelling their name). I had a blown pool motor and called KEVIN to see if he could repair the motor. He offered to look at the motor for free after trying to diagnose the problem over the phone (something most companies won't do). He offered to help and said to come in any time so I went in a couple hours later on a Friday afternoon just before closing. Kevin diagnosed the problem and offered three possible solutions for a new pump (ranging from $200-400 based on brand and features). I agreed to order a new pump as mine was not able to be repaired, however less than an hour later after I left he called me and was able to offer a used pump that met my needs for less than half of what I would have paid earlier. Kevin offered an amazing warranty on the used motor, and even talked me through the process of installation by phone after I got home (on a Friday night!). I'm sure that's not standard nevertheless it really made my day! Please check out this business and its new owners if you have any trouble with your pool. They apparently sell hard to find parts, pool maintenance products/chemicals, and offers home pool service and repairs. This level of service and features is just what our community needs and I'll be using Kevin and Seminole Pool Supply now that I know they are in business again. read more

Seminole pool supply is my new to go all pool fixing needs! I read Yelp reviews religiously before I make a decision on almost anything. Some times reviewers are spot on, other times they may be off a smidgin, how ever all the reviews about Seminole pool supply are 110% spot on!!! These guys are amazing. My pool motor started smoking just after hurricane Irma, I was pretty nervous about turning my pool system back on for fear it would blow up, so I turned off the power supply so that the timer wouldn't turn on my pool automatically. That's when my search began. When you start calling pool folks for a new motor, well let's just say so many other problems are mentioned to lure you to not only worry about the motor, but the maybe your mother board, electrical problem, your whole pool system, etc.$$$$$$$! It just doesn't seem like there are many honest companies out there! This is where my journey begins with Kevin of Seminole pool supply! I sent a message to the company through Yelp, Kevin responded very quickly! He advised he could stop in that day! Still a little hesitant wondering if I would get charged an arm and a leg! I looked on line, motors can run in the 4-500$ price range, and then to get it installed another couple on Benjamin's! So Kevin came out, turned on my pool system to asses the situation, sure enough the motor blew out! He looked at everything. He advised the motor was gone! If I wanted a new one, it would run me in the 400$ range which I already knew, the alternative was a rebuilt motor that would last me just as long as an new one and he would give me a 1 year warranty for 1/2 the price. He said my turbo cell salt converter looked like it was on its last legs, I told him I bought it only a few years ago, he told me I should look to see if it has a manufacturers warranty. He didn't try to push one on me. I asked him to check my pool light since it hasn't worked in more then a year. It was no problem! He took a look at that while he was there and in no time told me what was wrong with it and offered a solution! He told me he could come out here install the rebuilt motor, change my pool light system with a light switch rather then the way I had it through a remote control which didn't work and would cost more to fix then a simple switch! He would do all that for 350$!!! I couldn't believe the price and was super ecstatic! Had I just bought a new motor on line, I'd have paid 4-500$ no light switch, no installation, just the part!!! Then I would have had to find a pool tech to come install it which I'm sure would have been at lest 160-200$ maybe a tad bit more for the new light switch!! I agreed to pay the 350$, Kevin even poured some algae remover while waiting for the rebuilt motor, to prevent algae build up in the mean time. Kevin was there within a few days and the work was complete 110% to my satisfaction! The motor purrs like a cat, the wallet is happy, and I couldn't be happier!!! Kevin was honest, reasonable, has over 17 years of experience, and very considerate of his clients budgets. He offered reasonable options, estimates, and solutions! I'm very happy I chose Seminole pool supply! Because of Kevin's hard work, it's now cool to jump in the pool again.......and I can see clearly now the light is on.... After my old single speed pump died on me I asked a neighbor of mine, who works for a local pool resurfacing business, for a recommendation and he immediately pointed me to Seminole Pool Supply. I am very happy he did! I talked with Kevin on the phone and he set an appointment to come out a few days later to take a look at my pool setup. He arrived on time, was very friendly, and very informative. I had let him know I wanted to take this opportunity to also replace my old filter, move to a salt chlorine generator, and replace my old crumbling concrete pad. After evaluating my setup he recommended certain brands/models for all three components. I received the quote the next day, which I thought was a very fair price - compared to some web searches that provided expected ranges. Kevin and a member of his team came out a few days later for the install. I thought they did a great job with the equipment layout to ensure everything was compact with a small footprint, but easy to get to for maintenance. After they finished the install they gave me a primer on how to use the equipment and let me ask any questions I had. It has been just over a week and so far the equipment has been working great. He even indicated he would come back out a week or so after the install to ensure everything is working well. As another plus, I had also mentioned some stains I had in my pool which he helped me treat. Overall I was very happy with the experience and would recommend them to anyone in the area looking to get pool work done. They were all super friendly, helpful, informative, they did good work, and were pleasure to work with. read more

My Wife and I hosted a house party for our daughter's Confirmation, but of course our pool decides to break down, rendering it useless, five days before the party. 4 companies over the week made attempts to fix and on Friday at 11am, a day before the party, one of the pool service people recommended Dockside Pools. In a panic I made the call. Kevin, the owner of Dockside Pools, assured me that he had the proper experience and that he would run right over.
