This company is freaking amazing. I'm an attorney in LA and used this company today to deliver documents in-person to Mendocino County, 8+ hours north of me, on short notice. (Process Server One is a national company, but this was the only Yelp entry I could find. I'm not sure which office helped me.) I have a brand new client in Mendocino County and needed to file her documents today there. It was already close to 1 pm today when I found out that Mendocino is super backwards and makes you file in person. LA has allowed fax filings for at least the last 7 years and now has mandatory e-filing, so this was unexpected. I tried to use my usual attorney service (OneLegal), but they require submissions by 11 a.m. the day before. The others that I checked out wanted to pick up the docs from you in person and file them, which obviously would not work for me at that point. I set up an account with these guys and, within minutes, they called me and sent me an email asking me to send them the docs and they would file them same-day, as well as advance any fees. Other services take forever to order from because they make you fill in sooo much information that is on your documents anyway (case number, department, etc.) They also sent me a same-day very clear invoice that I can send to my client. Some other services that I have used commingle the billing between clients so badly that it would take my assistant the whole afternoon to sort through them and bill. You guys really saved my life!!! Complete waste of money they were horrible! I used Process Server One for eviction paperwork I needed served. They were fully aware court was in 1 week and I paid expedited rates to have it processed quickly. Two days before court I hadn't heard anything so I follow up and was told no one had looked at it and they thought they had 30+ days to serve. They apologized for letting it slip thru the cracks and said they would get it served that day. I followed up the next morning and nothing had been done and I was told they were having issues with their process servers in the Phoenix area. I reminded them I paid $350 to have this paperwork served and they had dropped the ball and needed to correct. They sent someone out that afternoon and lo and behold when they sent the photo for proof of service they had delivered to the completely wrong address. I informed them immediately and they initially said it would be another $150 for the rush job. I said absolutely not and reminded them I already had paid for rush service and the address I gave them was 100% correct. I also submitted a photo of what the front of the residence actually looks like along with a detailed map. They then avoided my phone calls and emails going forward. Process Server One never tried to correct the issue or issue any type of apology / excuse etc... they just ghosted me & ran with the $350. They filed the "proof of delivery" to the courts stating they delivered to the correct address but that was fraudulent. I ended up hand delivering the docs myself. This company is a scam!!! I have used them 4 times to serve Court OSC AND CONTEMPT MOTION, they can never make service on the individual . They take your money and do nothin... they pretend to attempt service, but just keep your money. My next complaint against them will be to the BBB, because I want my money back for falsely claiming that they are a legitimate company. NN read more

Terrible experience. On 9/8/23 I submitted all of my information requesting a subpoena be served on a police officer. I received a confirmation saying they had received my request and would bill my card on file. I then received an invoice on September 15th showing I still owed money and that the price was $100 more than what I had been quoted. I reached out and he said that he must have hit "1" when he should have hit "2" when he was giving me my quote. Seriously?? I agreed to the increase because at that point I was on a tight deadline. I was told, again, that they would bill the card on file. I asked for confirmation that it would be served on time. On the day of the deadline for the subpoena to be served, I reached out again asking for confirmation that it was being served on time. A different person at the company said that service doesn't commence until the bill is paid and it wasn't paid until September 18th. They said they couldn't guarantee service on time and all they could do was refund my money. It cost both me and my client a lot of money in time wasted and I had to continue my hearing. Despite showing emails that I did exactly what I was told to do by the company, I never even got an apology. Horrible company. read more

I was quoted a price for 3 rush services that were to take place within 5 days. I was also told payment was to be made immediately. I paid the invoices but billed immediately at a higher amount than I was quoted. I was told the service would take place within 5 days . That did not happen. It took 3 weeks but was charged for rushes on all 3 services. What you do get is weeks of sending email after email trying to get an update to see if the services took place and if you are lucky you will get a vague response. I was emailing Ed, Jim, Andria and Laura and between the 4 of them no one could could let me know if the services took place. When you try to call Process Server One to get an update no one answers the phone but if you press the sales number they immediately answer the phone. So do yourself a favour and do not use Process Server One. read more

I had a similar experience to the numerous other one-star reviewers here - I was quoted a price for a confirmed rush service which wasn't completed, and charged an additional fee which was neither authorized nor included in the original quote. So they failed to complete the rush service and they charged 65% additional in an unauthorized fee. They have not paid me my invoices for work done on their behalf. They are very unresponsive to emails or letter about paying us. They Sub contract their work in Nevada as they are not Licensed Process Servers for Nevada. They make profit off us, and I am sure that they do this to other process servers as well. Do Not Use them as they highly unprofessional. read more

BEWARE! If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. My experience with Process Server One began in October 2023. I contacted Process Server One to issue a bank levy concerning an outstanding judgment. I spoke with Ed, who assured me that the process would be completed in a matter of weeks. I asked Ed to conduct an asset search to complete the bank levy. Ed put me in contact with a person named Laura who provided me with an Asset Search memo that was completely littered with errors and mistakes. When I highlighted the various mistakes I had noticed in the memo, Ed first insisted that the memo was accurate. Laura followed up with a revised memo correcting many of the issues I had identified. Skeptical that the memo was accurate, I again asked Laura to confirm that the bank she had identified was the correct one. Laura insisted that it was accurate. I then asked Ed and Laura to proceed with completing the bank levy. I constantly requested an update from Ed and Laura, and some of my requests went unanswered. With each request for an update, Ed and Laura requested new documents or information. At some point, I called Ed to express my displeasure with the service that I was receiving. I pointedly asked Ed whether he would be happy with the service he had provided to me. Ed refused to answer the question and instead proceeded to scream at me and accuse me of being rude. Three months later, Process Server One had still not conducted the bank levy. After the three months had lapsed, I realized that Process One Server simply did not know what it was doing so I terminated my business relationship with them and asked for a refund. Ed refused so I was forced to contact my bank to dispute the charge for services that were never rendered (I won). I subsequently hired a lawyer to complete the bank levy. That was when I was told that the bank that Laura had identified in the asset search did not have any records of the business. I contacted Ed and Laura and requested a refund for the asset search because it was incorrect. Instead of offering an apology, Ed refused to issue a refund. I also reached out to the company and they also refused to issue a refud. I feel it is my duty to alert the public about my experience so that people can make informed decisions about whether to proceed with Process Server for their business needs. read more

Terrible process servers. Ignore your calls and requests for updates. Upcharge all over the place. The one employee Laura tried and I don't fault her. Aside from her, their respond with rude defensiveness if you get upset. They got mad and told me that I should forget about trying to get anything served in one particular area because I was upset about them trying to charge me $450 for serving papers in Mammoth Lakes. Not exactly a backwater of California. Their response was "All jobs have been completed. There is only one server in Mammoth Lakes- I will call her and tell to NEVER DO ANYTHING FOR YOU! Goof [sic] luck getting anything done up there. Cancel all his jobs and do not give him any proof of services. " Like I said, terrible process servers and rip off prices. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! We used this company for a basic need to serve court documents to a defendant and have them filed with the LA county court. They couldn't do anything and the contact we had was horrible. Specifically: Did not charge what they said; Charged $196 vs $118, Didn't file with the court until we asked them about it and when they did, they simply just put the papers in a drop box at the courthouse and they were filled out incorrectly according to the judge. Thank goodness he accepted the paperwork after our explanation on the stand. read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. They falsified a Proof of Service, saying a witness was served who was not. But that was after they charged my card twice for the alleged single transaction. They refuse to discuss the double-charge or send actual invoices. My telephone and email inquiries resulted in hostile "customer service" and no resolution. If you're not local to California, do not, I repeat, DO NOT trust your credit card info or important documents with Process Server One. They will charge your card repeatedly and not perform the services. Appalling. read more

Before placing any order with this company I called them to find out the cost. I was specifically told that someone would call me to approve the cost before the order was processed. That they "would never charge without telling you the cost first". This never happened. I placed the order online as instructed by the person I spoke with. Later in the day I received an email stating that my card was charged nearly $300. I assumed that since I had been charged they had gone ahead and served the papers. The next morning I requested a status updated and was told they had 5-7 business days to complete it since it wasn't a rush order. I said that the time frame wasn't the problem the issue was the cost and the fact that I was told I would have the opportunity to approve the charge. She attempted to contact who ever would be in charge of that but couldn't contact them and told me someone would call me back. Later that day I did receive a call back from a man, named Jim, that said he was the one that would have been in charge of doing the pricing and such. He requested that I send him an email with my documents and that we would go from there, because I explained that I was upset I was charged and never approved the amount even though I was told I would have that opportunity. He told me on the phone that "they have been in business for 30 years and that it would be no problem for them to refund my money if that is what needed to happen." I emailed him back to tell him to cancel my order and refund my money. I was then told it was too late. Additionally on their website it asks for you budget. I selected $100-$200 and was then charged $270. I have worked in property management professionally and have had several notices served to tenants, never have I seen it cost that much to serve someone a notice. I am an attorney and had to serve 4 out of state subpoenas. I contacted Process Server One on February 28, 2023. The hearing was set for March 16, 2023. I alerted them to the hearing date multiple times. They charged me a total of $3,481.40. They billed me immediately and told me I needed to pay before they could start the process. I did. I kept checking in with them as the hearing got closer asking when they would serve the subpoenas as I was getting nervous. They did not respond. The day before the hearing, they told me that they went to the court to get the required approval to serve the subpoenas and the court said they could not do that with one day turnaround. I went to the hearing with no evidence to present and the hearing had to be continued. I asked them for a refund immediately. They then proceeded to tell me that they did their job and they were at the mercy of the court for approval. I told them of course they would not get approval the day before the hearing (not to mention, that would not be giving the witnesses adequate notice to appear.) They told me I "would have had trouble anyway" because the schools, where two of the witnesses worked, were closed for spring break. I told them that is why I had contacted them over two weeks in advance, and if they had started the process as fast as they demanded advanced payment they would have gotten to the schools before spring break. They told me they had done their end of the deal and they would not be put out for the expenses they had already paid. I told them I had paid them for a service that they did not deliver, and that they should not be paid for partial work that resulted in me showing up for a hearing with my client and telling the court that I had hired someone to serve subpoenas and they didn't do it. My client now has to wait until May for the hearing as that was the court's next available date. They told me they would look into it and get back to me. I did not hear from them again. I contacted them this morning to tell them I would be pursuing any means to reclaim the $3,481.40 I paid them. They called me immediately and told them they would only refund the service fees and nothing else. They told me otherwise I could sue them. I should have done this before paying them $3,481.40, but I just looked up their reviews online. It seems like this is a common practice for them. I believe them to be a fraudulent company. read more

My brother had started a partnership business with one of his closest friends, but they could not get through because of the unavailability of some documents. They felt stuck, and that's when we stumbled upon Process Server One had fixed an appointment with them at the earliest. For a week, I was preoccupied with family gatherings, therefore I needed to find someone trustworthy who could assist me without jeopardizing the quality of my job. After verifying availability, one of my lawyer friends drove me to this firm and scheduled an appointment for me. I opted to employ them since I was impressed with their demeanor and vast expertise. I was sluggish in inquiring about the status of my request, but they took care to keep me updated with texts and emails as they went through with it. read more

We reluctantly agreed to allow them to try again no charge. You get what you pay for. DON'T USE THIS SERVICE. I requested a rush service for papers to be served in another state, and I was told that the person was going to be served in less than a week, via rush. In my application, I included very specific information on how to find the person to give them the papers. This service is advocated by the court. After 5 weeks of not hearing anything, my case got dismissed, because they never served the court papers. They are very unprofessional. I gave them a lot of extra information to find the person at their home and work, and then after the case got dismissed from the court, I reached out to them, and they said that they were unable to find him. They lied in all sorts of different ways. It looks like they helped the person that was supposed to be served, and gave me a lie saying that they couldn't find him, because the person to be served has connections there. The worst part is that my case got dismissed because of the incompetence of this company. The Bridgeport CT court gives out their number, and that is very dangerous. I trusted these people because it came from the court, and look what they did to me and to a lot of people. read more

I hate to sound like a cliche but I wish I could do a ONE star. I sent an email to Jim and told him I needed to have two subpeonas done and wanted his company to be a custodian and deposition officer. Further, I told him that i have the two old ones he can go by and they are attached. He served the old subpoenas. I paid Wednesday morning before 11am and he told me they would be served within two days. On Sunday, his status service stated they had not been served. Of course, what process server would serve an old subpoena. This was May 11, 2022. I still have not been issued a proof of service and it is now June 7, 2022. They have not refunded me the money for being a custodian of records, which they cannot because the subpoena is old and they will not issue me a refund for the deposition fees, which again, they cannot clearly be a deposition office. Why would they keep my $542 for doing nothing. read more
