Update. We used this business two years ago and thought they were great. Recently, one of our AC units stopped working. I called Pro Tech & left a voice message, sent a text, and put in an online service request (all of the methods they suggest). I did not get a response at all, so I ended up calling another company. On your website, "Our Service Area" includes Severna Park, MD but when I called they said you're out of the area. Needed a mini-split repaired or replaced and my heat pump serviced for annual maintenance. Waste of time to call them and they need to correct their website!! read more

Came home from a weekend away to find my house at 78 degrees. Assumed the thermostat had just shut off the AC automatically while I was gone only to realize about 8 hours after I got home that the house wasn't cooling. Warm air was coming through the vents. Called Chris and he was at my house within an hour. He confirmed on the phone when I called that the outside unit wasn't running and when he arrived, he quickly zeroed in on a blown capacitor. He replaced it and was in and out within 30 minutes. I appreciated that he walked me through everything he was doing and explained what he was looking for. He wrote up the invoice, walked me through it on his iPad, and processed my payment via credit card. Super easy and I highly doubt anyone could have done it at a lower price as I was only charged for 30 minutes if his time and the cost of the replacement part. read more

I called Pro-tech because they were recommended. They did a great job, but the technician charged me for TWO TRIPS at $150 each! He needed a part for my A/C and had to go to the warehouse for it. I feel that I should not have been charged for two trips and I wasn't told by the technician that they offered a military discount. Still, I will need their services again for my other unit in the winter, but will make sure I don't get charged twice for a trip fee and get my military discount. read more

Pro Tech was very responsive. My AC went out in the hottest day of summer during Commissioning Week. I called them at 6:00 PM and they responded that night and arrived at my house the next morning. They gave me a quote for repairing the unit and also for a new unit. I went with the new unit, which they installed within a few days. I called three other places. They took days to call me back. Unfortunately this company is no longer trustworthy. I have used Pro-Tech in the past, and they were always great to work with. Because of my past experience (and all of the great reviews here), I hired them to replace my heat pump unit when it was finally necessary to do so. About halfway through the install of the new system, the owner of Pro-Tech sent me a text that stated that the new system would not be compatible with my existing Nest thermostat. Obviously this would have been good information to know prior to making the decision to buy that particular brand of heat pump. As my old heat pump was already removed, and the new one was half in, there wasn't much that could be done about it. I asked the owner, Chris, if he would install a different brand of smart thermostat that was compatible with the new heat pump if I purchased it at my own cost and provided it. Chris agreed to this. 2 months later, despite many emails and texts, it remains undone. I would not recommend trusting this company with your business. No integrity. read more

Pro Tech came to the rescue when our AC stopped working right before the weekend. All the larger HVAC companies "put me on the list" to be seen on Monday. I decided to call this local company...Chris came out THAT EVENING and assessed our unit. He was extremely helpful in diagnosing and finding a solution for us. He came the back the very next day to make sure his solution was still up and working. After today I understand why Chris (owner) and Pro-Tech have a 5-star rating from almost every single customer. Awesome customer service! It's not too often that the owner himself contacts you, works around your schedule, and comes out the next day. When my 14-year old heat pump stopped working on a 90 degree day, I was bracing for worst case scenario. Three years ago I had a larger company work on it and told me I should've replaced it then. Well I've gotten another 3 years out of it and figured it was time. Chris arrived on time and was polite and professional. Instead of selling me something I didn't need, he spent over an hour running up and down multiple flights of stairs and into a crawl space to fix the slow leak in my existing unit (did I mention it was 90 degrees!!) He said I could get another few years out of it! He has definitely earned my business for any future work, including the new heat pump that I'll eventually need. It's so refreshing to work with someone so honest who wants to earn my trust and business. No wonder they're rated so high on Angie's List, Home Advisor, and the better business bureau (A+).
