The entire 90-minute appointment felt like pure heaven! My nail artist, Yen, did an absolutely superb job. She is meticulous, skilled, and truly made me feel so relaxed and refreshed. Beyond the excellent service, I have to praise the atmosphere: The facility was spotlessly clean. The ambient music was at the perfect volume--nothing was too loud. Massage chair was so comfortable. The unpleasant surprise came when she was getting ready to apply nail polish, but some of my nails were not cut properly to the point that it would've made a whole in socks. I politely asked to address it when I noticed that the rest of the nails were hardly cleaned and cuticles still there. I asked if she is planning on cleaning the nails and remove the cuticles properly. The answer was no as I selected the express service which means 20 minutes. I attached the description of the express service- nowhere it says 20 minutes or the fact that job will be half way done. I questioned the price to value ration since $40 for 20 min means $120/hour and I know college graduates and nurses who don't make $120/h. When I checked out, I was told that if I pay with card is $4 more. This is another way to make money as the card fee is 3% for in person charge which is $1.2. I paid cash, but have not received a receipt. The disappointment was doubled when I learned that she was the owner of the nail salon.

When she was done ruining my hair she tried drying it. I told her I used a flatter on my hair so she pulls out this tiny little pink flatter that I knew would never get through my hair. She never got the underneath of my hair dry and she didn't know how to control the kinks and fluffiness of my hair so she kept taking handfuls some kind of hair product to try and tame it. by the time I left my hair was full of goop that felt like glue, my hair looked like boozo the clown.I couldn't wait to get out of there and go home and wash my hair and put some dark streaks in to balance the drastic bleach blonde. I got a seasonal pedicure that featured an orange scrub (smelled delicious!) She also cleaned up my fingers with a buff and shine - it was an easy way to get my hands back in shape without committing to nail polish. The salon itself is the nicest I've ever seen. I paid $53 for a $45 manicure... Avoid the Groupon! So that was the initial pricing drama... Then for the manicure. The hot stone massage was decent. Then she was shaping my nails which were short to begin with and she just gave up on shaping. I had to ask her to please at least smooth them out. So unshaped nails and then came the polish... She did it so spotty and didn't even get it to the edges. Literally the worst polish job I've had yet. No cuticle work, so I looked at my nails when she finished and they already looked like they were a week old. At this point I had gel polish on my nails and there was nothing that could be done unless I got it fully redone. It took 2 hours from start to finish, so there was no way I could wait around any longer. They agreed that it didn't look great, but said there was nothing they could do and still charged me the extra amount for the gel polish and claimed my Groupon. The lady was nice (I believe her name was Tammy) but it seemed like it was hard for her to see super well and that's why the attention to detail was off.
