The Good: Super knowledgeable and do have a very strong expertise of Mustangs and really all sports cars for that matter. A strong wealth of knowledge that will walk through in detail the fixes needing to be completed. Also very well connected with local folks i.e. paint, exhaust and other services. Overall the businesses does have a good intention to take care of the customer. Opportunities: 1) Timelines are horrendous and not even close to what the actual will be. Prices tend to be much higher than originally anticipated (not all on the business as things do tend to come up outside of their control). Was originally told get ready, we are going to get this thing quick. Paid 2500 up front in November of 2020 with a target of 6K. Car was still not completed as of June of 2022 12K later. Dreadfully slow and really unreasonable. There will be a follow up I am sure about covid, parts suppliers and staffing. Kind of funny on parts I ordered myself no issues. Staffing I get, but prioritization was really bad. Saw several cars come and go while mine collected dust. 2) Coordination with fellow partners (Exhaust) was also super slow. I resulted to check on my car myself. Come to find out there was no communication when it was dropped offer. Car was fixed and sat there. Follow up was trailer broke. Was true, but after this many months its a lack of planning. 3) Follow up was rough. I would go weeks without an update. I understand the team is busy, but when spending money dropping a line once in a while would be nice. Overall I am 12K in and resulted to having to tow my car back to my house incomplete because of the above and frankly just lost faith in Promodular. I wish them the best, but unfortunately do no recommend. I will be checking out 210 performance in San Antonio who already has a much better response. I entrusted Kirk with my 1999 Mustang Cobra Convertible, and was extremely disappointed. He worked on the car on multiple occasions, starting with a brake and clutch issue. I also had a "loose" feeling in the back suspension, which he incorrectly diagnosed as a bad tie rod. Strike One: I was charged for an adjustable clutch cable, which I was told by a tech on my next visit it was never installed. The cable did finally get installed when I called Kirk out on it. Strike Two: The "loose" back end wasn't a bad tie rod. It was a bad wheel bearing discovered by another shop. I don't understand how that got missed. Strike Three: The clutch wasn't installed properly. I told Kirk it didn't feel right, and he argued that it was "in my head". Another shop not only discovered the loose clutch, but also that ProMod installed the transmission brace backwards when they put the car back together. I thought I had found a shop that I could trust, but I won't be going back. read more

Before taking your car here, call any other performance shop in the Austin area and ask for a recommendation where to take a mustang/ford. I was told "no, I cannot recommend anywhere trustworthy in Austin" and "I know a guy, but I would send my worst enemy to him." among other things. Unfortunately, I did not know this beforehand. This was from me calling around over the last few weeks to find somewhere else to take my car to be completed. My car has now been at Pro Mod for SEVEN years. Currently, I am being told by Kirk that the only thing needed is a dyno tune, but have been told that for the past two years. The car sat for so long, I guess uncovered and probably out in a field (what I've heard from others), that it rusted a hole in the headers. This was after he backed into it, damaged the front bumper and the sent it to his "storage facility" instead of sending it to a body shop immediately. Recently, Kirk decided to attempt "friendly" conversation by texting me pictures of work he had done on his bike and sending me "positivity" songs. At this time, I asked him for an update on my car. I sent four texts between April 12th and May 19th without a response from him. Finally, I stopped into the shop and confront him face to face. This is when he told me about the headers and said he couldn't find any because they were all backordered. I did one google search and found them immediately at American Muscle. At this moment, he is again ignoring my texts and emails. He said my car has been moved to his "new location" in Marble Falls, but ignores my requests for this new address. I have also asked for a video of the car running to show a potential buyer which he agreed to, but took two weeks to send. Update: Kirk sent me a bill on 7/21 stating that the balance owed for work on my car was $27.73. On 9/12 he reprinted the bill with the exact same charges and it now says I owe 4k. Parts he said he would cover (I.e. fuel pump since he left it sitting so long waiting for body work), I am now being charged for as well as labor that I was told would be discounted is now full price. read more

I brought in my 15' SRT 392 for a tune.. I have Texas Speed Long tube headers installed and needed a tune. After beginNing the tune there was a small hiccup because the install I had done previously before bringing it to pro mod had exhaust leaks. After getting a partially restored '83 Jeep CJ-7, I needed considerable work on the carburetor, steering, exhaust, and electrical system. I also wanted to put a few accessories (lights, rear bumper tire mount, new seat, console, etc.). My first trip was to JeepMasters, where I spent a few thousand dollars and came away less than satisfied. They could handle the simple accessory add-ons and basic repairs, but didn't solve the real issues I had with keeping it running consistently, and charged $800 for electrical "clean up" that actually made things worse when I picked it up. After a couple months of searching for someone that I felt could handle the work, I ended up with Kirk at ProModular Performance. Within minutes, he was able to diagnose issues and explain why it was running so poorly. I actually waited 3-4 months before writing this review, because I wanted to make sure the initial improvements lasted...and they have. The Jeep has consistently run extremely well, and came with about a 15-20% gas mileage improvement. There was a combination of things, ranging from timing and carb adjustments to wiring changes and exhaust enhancements (it doesn't reek of gas and exhaust now). At first I thought PMP was the place to go! I called Kirk and told him about my exhaust system set up and needing to connect to my headers. He also mentioned I need to get the car tuned due to the headers and the car running rich. Well after $1,300 later, I got the tune...can't tell the difference though, and he did connect my exhaust. However, I got a CEL and the code was a knock sensor. When Kirk saw that he kind of scratched his head and did not know why. I asked about tunning out the sensor, but he said that would not be the first choice, but instead to change the brand of gas I use. This was a good advice, but it seemed like it was the only advice he had. I tried to call him back about the CEL, but he would not return my call...figuring it was during the Christmas/New Year holidays, I waited until after the holidays. Tried to call, text and email him and no response. I now had a crack in the weld on my exhaust where the connection was made, sent him pics, and nothing. I called twice and each time he would not pick up, and I could not leave a message as his mail box was full...tells me he doesn't even check his voice messages...very bad communication!! I ended up taking my car to Three Point Automotive today, and they took my car up and had the crack welded up in 20 minutes...cost $15! As for the knock sensor, the dealer took care of that under warranty. As mentioned, I thought this was a great place to take my car in the future, but now I don't think I'll go back there again...too bad, I guess he is just too busy to help his customers...maybe he needs to lose some of them to other shops! read more

Finally I broke down and agreed to a diagnostic which he over charged me for but the worst part is that he called a friend of mine to tell him FIRST what was wrong with my vehicle. What horrible customer service. I get it if he has a man crush on my buddy but I was the customer not him. After the over priced diagnostic he stated he could fix the issue provided a deposit up front as if it was some huge job. I asked my friend if the guy has ever asked him for a deposit before and he replied, "hell no..and I have had 3 times the amount of work that you are having done to your vehicle. I never had issues with a mechanic in my entire life until I met Kirk. He paints a pretty picture in the beginning, comes across as if he's your best friend, but once he has you money, he will ask for more, more and more money. Basically, he did the following; custom tune, installation of headers, Boss 302 intake and CAI. Kirk said my car would pass state inspection and that I would not have a check engine light...guaranteed. I asked this several times. Be careful and heed my WARNING. If you decide to go to his shop, he will ask for a down payment. For me it was $3,000. Once you give him your money, you will be forced to sign a document that has all kinds of disclaimers such as, "PMP does not guarantee emission test results or passing of emission test either expressed, etc". He has you sign this after he takes your money. This contradicts what he told me earlier. Why have this written down and then make false promises? I had no choice but to follow through because guess what? There are NO REFUNDS. I was forced to do business with this guy or lose $3,000. Also, keep in mind, the initial estimate he gives you in writing will increase. Ready for the bad news? The check engine light came on after this shop worked on my car. It was obviously not going to pass inspection. Each time I would take my car back to the shop, Kirk would ask for more money. After several attempts to get my car running as it should and trying to figure out why that check engine light kept coming on, I finally gave up. On top of all that, the car runs crappy as well. All he does is guess. He throws on parts and doesn't have a clue what he is doing. He loves to charge you more money and continuously lies to your face. Also, after doing research, I noticed he has the bad reviews removed from Google. Guys, look around, even if you have to go outside of Austin to find a real professional tuner. Kirk has had my truck for many months and charged me insane amounts of money to fix basic Bolton parts and time my carb . I constantly get the run around and don't get return calls ever . I've literally called him from my personal phone and he forwarded me to voice mail and called back within 30 seconds from a different phone and he will pic up it's like playing games with a two year old that has my 30k$ show truck . So after all this he gives it back to me on a dark rainy night I drive it home inform him that the over drive isn't shifting he says drive it around for a week or two bring it back and see if u find anything els that isn't working correct . Mind you he's had my truck for almost 5 months now . I take it the next morning to wash it as is been sitting outside and getting dirty also PARKED OUT FRONT which I was assured it wouldn't be . When I was washing it I noticed a giant chip in the hood mind you I got the truck back at night while raining and this is what I get the next day after him holding my vehicle for months . I pop the hood and my show ready firewall and hood wer set on fire . I instantly text and call him and his reply was oh yeah I forgot about that and then he lies and says it was like that for a while which is a lie I stopped into check on my truck with concern many times and took video and pics of the non progress. He says he will have it repainted I'm like no sh*t Sherlock I'm going to take you to court if you don't . When I drop it off I also informed him the truck will not shut off he said that the first time that he has a hard time tuning in the carburetor which he charges me three times to take apart and decided that it was not usable mind you it's a brand new carburetor and charge me another $800 to put a different carburetor on which is insane so when I take it back and I ask him to take a look at the car but the transmission he gives me this runaround story and says that's just the way it is now and it also sends me an email saying I'm sorry you're having trouble with your truck he really does not acknowledge how much he screwed me over and put me in a financial bind. Do not do business with this man ask around at other Performance shops before you go to the shop because he has a really bad name in the area I wish I would've known that before I just looked at reviews . Also since he's had my truck I've called and emailed many times to see the progress on the paint it's been almost 2 weeks and there's been no progress apparently he also asked what I would be willing to sell it for and when I told him the price he asked well what's your bottom dollar and I said that is what I want out of it and he never called me back. I feel like he's holding my truck to try and get me in the worst financial bind to where he can purchase my truck or have somebody to purchase for much much cheaper predicting my financial instability because I've told him about this through email many many times I want my truck back Kirk and I want the work I paid you for completed and I want to not have to chase you around to get MY vehicle back that I paid YOU to work on . I really wish I could rate this business a -*. That is right a negative star. The experience we had with this company is unimaginable!! We conducted business with Kirk. After giving him $4200 in labor, purchasing our own motor for $1800 and having it sent to them. They totally screwed us. We picked up our 85 Cutlass from them after a month. They then charged us an extra $727 dollars for additional labor which we were shocked but paid nonetheless drove the car 2 blocks and the car cut off. We called Kirk as he is whom we deal and was very surprised with his nonchalant response. He came and started the car and it cut off again. He told us that his job was done. We paid him to put the engine In and he did that. So I guess that it matters not that the brand new engine did work. He was not supportive at all in helping to come to a resolution. Not only is that not business like, the customer service was NOT important. I have never in my 45 years of life been treated with such disrespect. Especially when I spending that type of money I fully intend to file a report with the Better Business Bureau, as well as a civil suit. PMP worked on my 1992 Mustang GT for 9 months and he charged me 10k. Took my car in for very easy engine mods upgrades and at the end of 9 month, with tuning/dyno my car ran like shit. I went back a week after I got my car to talk with Kirk and he said he'll look into it but of course he wanted more money. Screw that!! Til this day he has not called me to check up on my situation with my car. So I took my car to S.A. to a shop called 210 Performance so he can fix my car and make it run the way it should have. Kirk is a nice guy but his customer service sucks and at the end they did a poor piss job. Save your money and go else where! Becareful with PMP! read more

Had some work done on my 1993 5.0 that had been sitting for awhile. They had it for about 2 months chasing down wiring issues. Once I got it back, it ran fine but there were many things that they"fixed" with the wiring that looked like crap. Wires and relays not secured where they should be, no plastic loom to protect the wires from squirrels (which is why it wouldn't run), rusty razor blades and electrical tape scraps left here and there. We agreed for them to have it towed back to their shop at their expense but their towing company (Rodriguez Towing) picked up the wrong car! They picked up my mom's car which I had just finished polishing and waxing a couple days before and the wrecker driver got his greasy handprints on it and scratched the paint with his gloves. I was not home when they picked it up and the driver drove through half of my front yard and broke two sprinkler heads in the process! They don't have a phone line for the shop so they can't answer any questions that I may have. The number rings the owner's cell phone and he always seems to be "out of town." He takes forever to respond to text messages or voicemails. I sent him pictures of the things they supposedly fixed and just responded with "K." I told him I would be fixing it to my liking and he didn't care. read more

I took my 1984 Jeep CJ7 in for a complete 350 v8 engine swap which is no easy task. Kirk and team took the time to do a complete inventory or all the parts it would take to a quality engine conversion; engine mounts, cooling fan, radiator, drivetrain, ...... All the way to every bolt. Proper expectations were set up front and was the most thorough shop by far that I had reached out to. Other well known Jeep places were way over priced, Just Jeeps failed to even Followup after multiple attempts and others just did not seem to have the expertise PMP portrayed.
